A daunting task-HELP!

ok ladies. here's the 411 on this fashion emergency!

My boyfriends band is playing at a burlesque show.
I am vewy, vewy frightened!
Busty babes are going to be wandering around everywhere....skantily clad and lovely in their own ways.
John has an old friend that is a burlesque dancer...I've seen pictures.
now I know john loves me, and I know I have little to fear...but I am an insecure and competitive female.

so, to the challenge.
I need pictures of burleque fashion/clothing and costume ideas for the show, which is in a month. Please help me ladies! I need it!

Re: A daunting task-HELP!

well my first thought is moulin rouge... old school burlesque!

I imagined more covered - like the one on the right in the red corset:

or if you want something more covered, maybe one of those skirts which is longer in the back and shorter in the front with a corset, lots of feather boas, fishnets and heels!

even something from the rocky horror picture show might work?

If you go to your local costume hire shop, I'm sure they'd have something suitable so you don't have to buy everything.

Aw, I'm a very insecure person too, but I'm sure he'll think you look gorgeous!

This is quite revealing, but I like this look, it's plain but sexy:

And I also like the red corset idea:

And yeah, go for a feather boa or something if you want to be more covered up

Re: A daunting task-HELP!

So you're going to be in the audience, then?

I would suggest going with burlesque-inspired clothing rather than a full-on burlesque costume. There's really no need for you to try to compete with the burlesque dancers or to pretend you're one of them. I think as long as you dress in the same vein as the theme, you should be good.

I'd recommend getting a corset top from Charlotte Russe (they seem to have a good selection of corset tops) or maybe Forever 21 or someplace like that. Then you could wear actual bottoms (pants, shorts, or a skirt) with it. That way, you get the burlesque feel, but you're actually wearing clothes rather than a costume.

Oh, and if you can, heels are a good idea for completing the look.
