i've always been attracted by hand made things and clothes and i really want to learn all about it .. so i try to make something simple...any advice for a shirt or a skirt??

There's a thread on sewing in the "Everything Home Related" forum, if you go there and use the "Search" button and type in "Sewing" it should come right up. I've been sewing for 25 years (since I was 6), and I love it. I know the member "Sew Amazing" is a sewing teacher, so you could send her a "private message" if you have any questions. She seems really enthusiastic about sewing, so she'd probably be good for beginner's advice.

I sew too. I make most of my clothes. There are some tutorials for simple things on the internet. If you'd like some links let me know, I think I have some bookmarked.

I suggest you start yourself with an easy commercial pattern, such as Simplicity or McCalls. Cut out the pattern in your size, trace and cut from fabric, and follow the instructions ^_^

Craftster.org is a brilliant sewing and crafts resource with tutorials for everything from sewing your own prom dress to making skirts from pillowcases. Go have a look, it's full of ideas for things to make.

I used to sew and make clothes for dolls when I was small. Now I don't do it any more. But the thought of trying again sounds interesting

Wow! It sounds great. I haven't sewn anything in about 13 years. I had to do it in middle school during my Home Economics class. I wasn't too shabby at it. I'd really like to learn again. My mum has a fab sewing machine.

i don't sew clothing from scratch i just alter it. like if my pants were to big i would sew it to my figure. if a shirt was too plane i would add stuff to it. small stuff like that. but it would be cool to learn how to start from scratch.
