hi all- im about to go back to school and want to be really organized this year. any organization tips for the closet? any help would be appreciated...im very disorganized and need all the advice i can get

Sections, sections, sections....I believe in them. lol...
-Separate the bottoms and tops
-I put all my camis together because I tend to layer a lot and I just go straight there to start, And then I do my t-shirts together, button downs together, just mainly grouping stuff
-Color coordinate the tops once they're in their sections, if you like
-Do your bottoms in a lovely little order from jeans, capris, shorts, to skirts
-I keep all my shoes in their original boxes, although I would love to get some of those clear shoe boxes from the Container Store (http://www.containerstore.com/browse...4&PRODID=59729)
-Purses are great going into those hanging shoe bags (http://www.containerstore.com/browse...RODID=10012679)

You should really check out the container store. They have all sorts of storage solutions. I hope you get organized!

hmm i usually put the stuff i wear more often in the middle of my closet so i don't have to go searching.

I organize everythibg by types of clothes--pants,jeans,skirts, blouses, tunics,camis, etc.--and then by color. I tend to always stick to my "by type"rule, but have a much harder time staying very long within my secondary order of color.Oh well!

I haven't worried about it in a while lately, but my closet is generally broken into sections.

Dress shirts, t-shirts, tank tops, sweaters, sweatshirts, dress pants, jeans, lingerie, jackets, etc. I've also been known to color-code my closet too *lol* I basically hang up everything except night shirts and pajama bottoms *lol*

I'm a little crazy when it comes to organization so maybe you dont need to do this much but on the far right I start with pants and jeans then t-shirts, assorted by color, then tank tops, then dressy/evening tops, then mid-sleeve shirts, then hoodies then button-down/bussinesswear tops, then sweaters then jackets/coats (i have a long bar). This helps so I can quickly find something according to occasion/weather. On the top shelf I keep some shoes in their original boxes so I know what box has what shoe. Then Under that I have all my handbags. On the floor of the closet are my boots and my hamper. My dresser keeps my undies and stuff, pjs, comfy house clothes, more pants/jeans. I love organizing! I wish I could come and help you, haha (i know, i'm a little compulsive)

this is what i do:

one folded pile for tanks
one folded pile for shirts
one folded pile for jeans
one folded pile for casual skirts/shorts
hang all dressy tops/dresses/dress pants/dressy skirts

and oh, it depends on the season. right now, all winter stuff are neatly folded and stored away in a sealed storage bin ready for winter.

and i have pjs, undies and socks in a drawer
and i have my lingerie neatly folded, wrapped in paper tissue (like the ones we use for gifts) and stored in its own special box

yeah, there's really no room for my hubby's stuff! we need a walk-in closet! lol

I organize by type of clothes.
I fold: T-shirts, tanks, jeans, casual pants, sweaters
I hang: dressy stuff, jackets, coats
Drawers: socks, underwear, PJs

I'm pretty much a neat freak and I like organizing things... This is how I organize my clothes:

Closet: Everything goes from small to big. On the right side of my closet: tanks, short sleeved shirts, long sleeved shirts, jackets. Left side: skirts, capris, work pants, jeans.

Dressers: I put everything that I don't like to hang in different drawers. Here is how I organize them, from top to bottom)- Dresser #1: a seperate drawer for my accessories, socks, undies, bras, socks. Dresser #2: I have one for jeans that I don't hang because I hardly wear them, work out clothes, pj's. Dresser #3 is all sweaters, in each drawer, it goes in order of thickness.

Everything is also color coded and folded or hung so they are all facing the same way. I have too much clothes. I'm really OCD about how I organize my things, my boyfriend won't even try to put my clothes away when he helps with the laundry. One time he tried, he put my shirts facing the wrong way. I was happy that he helped so I didn't want to say anything, so I waited until he went away and then turned it around.

One thing I think of as a must have is a large "bin" with drawers. I have one that has a large drawer and then two smaller ones. Big bin is for out of season shoes and the two smaller are for underwear.

And I dont know how crafty you are or how many scarves/belts you own but.. If you buy a hanger and take like 4 pieces of wide ribbon and throw it over the bottom bar and then hot glue the sides together, and then hot glue clothes pins to that it saves a lot of drawer/closet space. Plus your accs are easy to get too!

This is how I organize my closet:-(basically the same as PinkBundles)
a folded pile for each catogory...jeans, tanks, shirts, casual wear, pants, sweaters, pjs.
And, I hang dresses, formal wear, coats, jackets and some other clothing materials that are easy to crease.
I put all of my shoes in their original boxes on the very bottom level of my closet. I do have moisture absorber and freshener in my closet.

i have a super small closet (damn apt. i miss the walk in one i had back home). so dresses, skirts, and vintage is hung in the closet. i have little storage things for the rest of the stuff.
i just dont have room for my tshirts so at the moment they're either on my floor or in the tupperwear giant container until i can figure out what to do about room.

i generally keep camis, t-shirts, button down shirts, jackets, etc organized by type rather than color. the container store and ikea has some great organzational tools. i really like the belt hook hanger from the container store. it holds 12 or so belts on one hanger, which is pretty nifty. at least i think so.
