Southern Belle help!

So I got this adorable Southern Belle costume to be for Halloween, but it doesn't look much like a Southern Belle. Does anyone have any suggestions on what to add to it to make it look more like a Southern Belle minus the embarrasing bonnet? I'm also not pressed on being a Southern Belle, I know that I can transform the dress into a Princess, beauty queen, or fairy... but does anyone else have more creative suggestions? Input very appreciated! Oh, I also included a picture of the outfit below if it would help some...

Maybe you could add some pig tails or something. I'm from the South, so yeah...I really can't think of anything else right now.

Now that's a naughty Southern Belle outfit this Southern Belle needs! LOL! I LOVE that outfit! I dunno really what to tell you, because I'd wear it about as how she has it on!

Aren't southern belles notorious for wearing like giant hats - not a bonnet - but like those really big hats with flowers and stuff on them?

I'm originally from the South (Kentucky), but that dress doesn't look very Southern, as it looks to be made out of taffetta (definitely not a Southern fabric). To me, the fabric should have been Gingham. I agree with the suggestion to add a Minnie Pearl hat, but I'm not sure it would help out the outfit. I don't think even adding a pinafore, gingham pumps, or carrying a straw Aigner bag could help, it's just the wrong fabric.

i agree and i knew this when i purchased it. im really not too pressed in keeping it as a southern belle, i just liked the dress and was open to suggestions anyone would have as in what to do with it.

I think it would work very well as a Tinkerbell costume. You would have a lot of fun with the makeup for a Tinkerbell theme.
