Here we go again - I was downsized, again!
Well, 2 years ago I was downsized from a company I had been with for 6 years. And now I've been downsized again from a company I've been with 6 months!  When I was downsized the first time, I got a job within a month or so and my manager was psychotic. I swear there was something wrong with her. She was abusive, inappropriate and discriminatory and I talked to her and that was a mistake. She became more abusive so I talked to our VP. No help there either. So I quit. I filed a report with HR and they actually took care of me, but the whole situation was mentally exhausting. So I did consulting for about a year and my last client, hired me. It was the PERFECT job. Great people, great work, flex time, great benefits, close to home. And my manager -the coolest woman! How could I be so lucky! Well, it couldn't last could it? I was downsized (with 60 other peoiple) by our HQ in London, UK. They are consolidating to a shared service center in Ohio, and we have until March. At least we have some time. But I am so bummed, pissed, sad, scared, and dumbstruck I have no idea what to do now. Oh well, I'll figure it out. Thanks for letting me vent!

So sorry to hear that...200 people throughout the region lost their jobs last week at the company I work for. 400 people got the same back in early summer.

No problem, doll. These times are already stressful...
But, hey, I was thinking...
How hard would it be for you to go independent? I mean, in your line of work, do you need the umbrella of a co. Or can you set up shop on yr own and do consulting (You can tell I'm not familiar) But seriously tho... If you can send your name out, network and stuff...
Just a thought I had...

i'm sorry to hear that. it always sucks to get laid off! ecspecially when you actually enjoy your job..but, i am a firm believer that everything happens for a reason, i'm sure that an ever better job will come your way!
