I am so lost!!!
I guess I'm just ranting right now but I'm sitting here trying to figure out what do with my life. Yeah it sounds like a broken record but I seriously don't know what to do!!! I'm a 23 year old loser! I have no degree no skill in anything and I don't want to work crappy jobs all my life and live with my parents (or any other family member as a matter of fact)
I just don't know what to do, everything is all over the place! I've thought about school but I seriously don't want to go back...it sucks!!!
Ok I guess my little rant is over

Re: I am so f**kin' lost!!!
Sorry that you feel that way. I know that at times we feel like we lost our path and we don't know what to do. I know that I am almost 30 (god, I can't believe I just said that) and I am not fully content with my job/career. However, it is not too late to change.
Think about what it is that you like to do. What are your interest? I think we are all great at something but we just have to figure out what that something is. What do you envision yourself doing? Write it down and then figure out the path to get there. Perhaps you would have to go back to school but is something that is necessary to reach your goal.

Re: I am so f**kin' lost!!!
If you don't know what you want to do or what you want out of life, make a list of everything you don't want or will not do. This might help you narrow things down.
I am a huge fan of volunteering - and I do volunteer, not just paying lip service.
Find some organization that you like and respect. Maybe they can train you to do something you have always wanted to try.
As well, focusing on someone or an animal that needs your help, can really bring your life back into perspective.
And volunteering looks great on a resume!
Best of luck

Re: I am so f**kin' lost!!!
Im 21 and in your place exactly..I cant choose to do anything and stick to it but do University courses online it advances me and its a good pace if you were interested.. Volunteering is also good like Carolyn said,It could lead to a passion you would wanna do job wise. If your not ready now, it wont stick..just try to stay happy and make a list of the things you want to do (goals) and start small. Im sure everything will be fine xox

Re: I am so f**kin' lost!!!
hmm have you tried those career assessment test classes online? they can match you up with jobs based on your personality, interests, etc. an like monica said, try to stay happy! motivate yourself & know that you're not alone! a lot of people don't know what they wanna be..but you will find your way.
and you definately don't have to go to college to have a good career, there are plenty of jobs that hire people with on-the-job training, etc. so just try not to feel discouraged.
good luck!

Re: I am so f**kin' lost!!!
I'm 22 and I'm right there too - but, even though I hate school with a passion... believe me, it's the last thing I wanna do. I decided in order to further myself, I had to get it done. It's not so bad once you get into the grove of it - just stressful at times. I have to remind myself I don't want to start my career late into my 20s. I wanna finish early so I can still enjoy my damn youth, lol.
I can't offer much advice since like I said, I'm with you... but there are many different types of learning programs. Some last a few weeks and other a few years. My friends done phlebotomy classes in a few weeks, some have done bartending courses in a few weeks, there's programs at local community colleges that have courses to get a certificate in less than a year. There are many options - it's just finding what you think you'll do best in and like.
I see it, haha, living with family - it helps me save up money and free rent, pfft hell yeah!

Re: I am so f**kin' lost!!!
If you find something you really enjoy, school won't seem like a chore and something you hate. Sure it does get tough sometimes but nothing worth having is going to be really easy all the time and not challenging at all. Since you're a member of this site you obviously like makeup so why not take advantage of your skill and become an MA? The hours might not be the greatest but at least you're selling something you like. Just a thought anyway. Of course you don't have to go to school but it would give you something to fall back on if you want to do something else in a similar field. The longer you wait to decide on something the more you're going to regret putting this stuff off.

Re: I am so lost!!!
When I was younger I had no idea what I wanted to do, so I got a job with a large government department. That way, I could change jobs whenever I got bored, and they had offices all over the country. So I changed jobs every 6 months for a few years, till I found a job that I loved, and I've been doing it for about 8 years now.
So my advice is try to get a job with a large company, and move within the company regularly, until you either find a job that you like, or figure out what it is that you want to do.
And remember, nothing is forever, so if you decide to do something, and then change your mind, there's nothing wrong with that.

Re: I am so lost!!!
I feel the same way too. I have two degrees that have nothing to do with each other (accounting and art history). Im working in a really crappy environmental company that really could care less about the environment except for making money off it. Im giving my 2 weeks notice tomorrow. Im trying to get my financial licenses in the hopes i can do something with that. If not ill find something else to do. lol
I really believe that it doesnt really matter what you study in college as long as you have a degree. I think employers are just looking to see if you finish. Now im not saying that i can become like a doctor with an art history degree but its something.

Re: I am so lost!!!
I'm in the same place too. I'm 20, been out of HS for 3 years, and I'm not the school type, even though I can get excellent grades. I have wanted to do the beauty school thing, it just hasn't fit w/ my schedule yet. But the more I think about it, I think I'll be better at mechanical stuff. Like a tech school! It's not glamorous, but it's more worthy I guess, and I think it would suit me more.
IDK, idk, idk. I'll have to look into it. I am definately the type to be able to handle a small business, or making sure people work hard
I agree with 4get me not!

Re: I am so lost!!!
the ladies have given awesome advice. I think that to make a plan, and then work toward it is really the best idea. And as speedy said, if you change your mind, that's ok too.
There are lots of jobs out there that don't require any specific qualifications, but some do, so you might have to do some study in order to eventually work in the area you want
best of luck!

Re: I am so lost!!!
Do what you HAVE to do, to do what you WANT to do.
I recommend school, not because it's fun, but because you can use it to your advantage. If you try, you just might like learning about new things. It's all about growth, not necessarily money.

Re: I am so lost!!!
i feel the same way..right now i feel like im just taking classes just because, but they're really for nursing. i want to be a nurse, i really do, but i just feel like there's competition between every student in the courses. it really sucks. and i feel like it's going to take me forever. all of my friends are off at university's and private colleges with good part time jobs, while i'm still stuck at home with my parents going to a junior college..i feel like i have no direction and that i've become more and more anti-social.

Re: I am so lost!!!
I don't know if you'd be interested, but my brother's friend apparently got a bartending license online, there are different courses and procedures but I think it's all mainly onine so now he's a bartender.

Wow thanks everyone! I haven't been back in this thread since I started it. IDK I guess I was afraid of the answers I guess. Yeah dumb I know.
