I'm finally gonna quit smoking! I've been sayin I will for the longest, but my daughter has "guilted" me into quitting tomorrow! She said Friday that "smoking is bad for your bones" and that I needed to quit. I told her I will, but it's very hard. So yesterday, as I was smoking a cigarette outside, she came next to me and said "cough cough, it hurts my throat" so of course I felt bad. I know I NEED to quit, but dayum, is it tough! Any former smokers who can give me any tips? I am quitting cold turkey, and have been chewing cinnamon gum like mad, but it's not helping! I had to bum 2 smokes at work today cuz I couldn't take it anymore! Any tips or suggestions would be great!!

I wish I had tips for you but I've never had to quit something like that, just try to stay focused and keep your goals in mind (your health, your daughter). I wish my bf would quit

I never smoked, but my dad who started smoking at age 12 and quit COLD turkey at age 34 I believe (which was 5 years ago), he quit because my little brother got really sick and my dad was scared for him cause he is always sick. I think he was 8 years old at the time and my dad prayed to God that if my brother turned out ok, that he would quit smoking. He hasn't since and I think it's pretty cool he did it just like that.

in australia there is a hotline you can call for tips and stuff. I'm guessing there must be a website with lots of ideas to help you stop smoking.

Good luck!! I quit several months ago. I stopped cold turkey and it was hell for the 1st 2 weeks, but if you can make it through that, it's ok. I still want one but find other things to do..............like posting here. You can do it!!!!!!!!!

Check my posts, I wrote about it in here--once even sereaming that I wanted a cig. Think of the make-up you could buy if you didn't spend that money on cigs. Too expensive girl!!! Can't buy make-up, gas, and smoke too????

i quit 3 weeks ago, and havent craved one ciggi, besides after meals.
i didnt plan on quiting, i took my last drag, and was like, im quitting, and i did.
no patches or medication to help me
its all in the mind.
the craving goes away in the 3rd week, after that, its the habbit that is tough

Thanks all for the support! And thanks Ms. Pout for the links! So far so good, have been craving like crazy, but found that besides the gum, chewing ice works well for me! I'll make sure to update again soon with any progress!
