A little bit sad...
This probably sounds silly but leaving work today a sad feeling came over me... I've worked in the same building for 25 years.. And just a few minutes ago I realized that I'm never coming back there ever again..
Were moving to a new corporate office over Labor Day and I'm going out west next week so when I come back it will be to a new office.. New building.. Different location completely.. so no more running over to the mall at noon.. Or Kohl's.. Or Home Depot.. Were going to be out in the boonies relatively speaking.. Nothing to do and no where to go.. And my new office sucks!! Don't even get me going on that..
That reminds me I have to find a new place to get the cars inspected since I would just drop them off at Sears accross the street...
I'm going to miss the old building.. Like loosing an old friend.. See told you it was sillly.. Sigh........

Re: A little bit sad...
Aww, Karren
People get that feeling often when they felt comfortable living or working at a certain place, you get attached to places just the same way you get to people or pets, so i totally understand. But there is always a reason for things happening, you never know, there might be something good about this new place, even if you hate the office and you have nowhere to go, if that is surrounded by nature maybe its life telling you, you need to get away from the stress of the city and relax around nature?
Once you get used to working there you'll be ok i think
25 years is a lot of time, and it can be hard to get used to be in a new place but im sure you'll find something good about it!

I'm sure you'll get used to it in time, it may even have some positives your other office didn't have!
I felt exactly the same when I left school. The school got knocked down 5 months after I left. That upset me. I was really attatched to that dumb old building and it would have been nice to know it was there to walk past every now and then and just to know it was there but they went and bulldozed over it! (Not with the students inside I might add )

Re: A little bit sad...
If memory serves me, aren't you going to be close to the Penguin's training facility?
Why not have an open house and invite Sid and the boys over?
Also, think of all the ways you can decorate your new office! You could blow up some of our avatars and frame them - no shooting darts at mine lol!

I get sad and nostalgic over things like that, too. Hopefully the new office won't be too bad.

Re: A little bit sad...
It's not at all silly! When I was sent to the Ellis campus from Bellevue, it wasn't the greatest feeling at all! A much bigger hospital, and no offense to any nurses on here, but OMFG the b*tchiness! Blah! TG I was able to go back to the Bellevue campus! It's not the same as it was though

Your feelings are perfectly understandable, I'm sure hope it wont be all that bad and you will get in to the swing of things there.

Re: A little bit sad...
It's normal to feel like that! You've worked there a long time, I guess the only thing that I have been through was leaving school... was there for 6 years than all of a sudden I have to leave, I know it's different, but I get ya! Hopefully you'll adjust nicely into your new office

Re: A little bit sad...
Thanks!! I'm feeling better today.... Just that last walk out the door I guess...
Carolyn yeah!! Right accross the street from the Penguins practice arena but training camp doesn't start for a month or more.... We had an open house for the new building today and I drug the family there and it's ok... Funny though I won two tickets to a Penguins game in our company's sky box!! : I feel much better now!! lol

Re: A little bit sad...
Congratulations on the tickets - and especially watching the game from a company box.
Now if it were a match against Toronto you'd have the perfect evening!

Yeah!! I have to wait and see when they are.... and my daughter keeps trying to steal them from me!! No way!!! Let her get her own!!
My office didn't look as bad as I remembered and if I can change some furniture around i can make it work... for another 9 or 10 years... lol

Humans are creatures of habit and I also dislike change. Maybe decorating or changing around the furniture will help. It takes time but you will be okay.

Re: A little bit sad...
glad to hear you're feeling better! It is hard to get used to working or living in a new place. It's just a little bit scary, even though the new office may end up having heaps of positives you never saw until you're working there!
and congrats on the tickets
