Movie Rant!

ok, so at the moment, magnum ice creams have a promotion where if you present the wrapper at greater union cinemas and purchase a regular ticket, they will upgrade you to goldclass for free.

I have been planning on going to see Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants 2 with my sister ever since I found out the release date, which was the thursday that has just been. We wanted something fairly girly and lightweight and relaxing to watch.

Well...

They've pulled it! without any explanation. It's no longer listed on our major cinema websites, hoyts or greater union, and they haven't given any explanation at all. The yahoo answers website says that it's been pulled since it did badly in the US, but what annoys me the most is that there is no official word on any of the websites!

I was really looking forward to it and now it's not offered at all! and there aren't any other girly movies out at the moment that we can see either!

so disappointed

Wha...? well that sucks! i wonder why they did that? but that is pretty odd and disappointing! even more if you are looking forward to go to the movies to watch something nice and all of a sudden is not available anymore! i wonder what happened?..

nope! so after waiting like an extra 1.5 months... they don't even bother to tell us they're not releasing it at all!

Thats kinda dumb. They should have at least let it show for the weekend to see if it makes money or not.

Are you kidding? I thought they released the same time... That kinda sucks tho... How long does it take for you guys to get the DVDs? Cuz that's what it sounds like it's gonna be...

There's another all-woman movie called The Women - just released.
Don't know if it's any good but it seems to have decent reviews and a steller cast.
Canada doesn't always get the limited released movies either.

That's so weird. I never heard of pulling a movie out when there was a release date, due to poor views in another country. Something popular here might not be so popular overseas and vice versa.

That is no good, I did enjoy the first one, it also sucks we don't get movies when the rest of the world gets to see them. I've been wanting to see Mamma Mia but fate has not been kind to me and I probably wont get too

Maybe they will release it on DVD Rosie?

Amber, gold class is like... hmm. It's more expensive, and they have a bar area and you can order restaurant style food which they will bring into the movie when you ask them (like, a cheese platter halfway through the film or whatever). It's adults only and it's nice for a special date or as a pamper type thing. The chairs are reclining chairs and its a much smaller cinema with more room between seats!

AND! I spoke to my local cinema since I wasn't getting anywhere with the big chains... apparently the release date is now in DEC!! PTCH! but better than straight to dvd I Guess! still... there's not much showing tonight that's any good
