This is a little random. I know it isnt very serious. But this year and the past couple weeks especially I have had A LOT of fruit flies in my apartment. Im killing like 5 or more a day ...

They aren't in one particular area. I dont know why we have them as we don't really have any fruit outside the fridge, no open food or sweets laying around. We dont leave windows or doors open.

I thought they were harmless but one was running around on my arm yesterday and it bit me! What the ****. I have begun to notice little red bite marks on my arms, its a little disturbing. They are brave little bugs too. They come right at me.

Anyway they are really making me mad and freaking me out. Im all nervous going to bed. Im afraid I will eat one while Im asleep or something.

How do you get rid of these little annoying things?! Do they sell traps or something??

P.S. Heres a really gross picture I found googling. I apparently have the red eyed wild type. At least they aren't mutants

I t usually gets cold enough by late Sept to stop them. Late Aug and early Sep is when I have the most trouble. Check your trash for banana peels, or veg scraps or whatever. If you take it out every day that will help.

I feel your pain! I don't like them either.
I have to take out the garbage everyday or else they will always find my apartment.

One thing I have done is keep peels, rinds, pits (anything fruit or veg that is garbage) in a plactic bag and keep in fridge if I can't take it out to the garbage right away.

put some really sticky fruit or fruit covered in honey into a jar or something? so they go "oooh fruit, yum" and then can't get out.

they come out more in the summer though i think, you might just have to put up with them!

Yea Ive been noticing its been getting cooler out and they aren't bugging me today. Its going to be a hot weekend though.
