Question Should I?....Shoudn't I?

Ok so I quit my job back in August, I thought that after I had a little bit of retail experience I could get another one really easy. Well boy was I wrong, I haven't been lucky in the job department......so I was thinking about going back and asking for my old job back. Basically I am ready to beg!!! The hours were not that great and the pay wasn't that good either but at least is was something!!
So should I go back and beg????

Re: Should I?....Shoudn't I?

Finding a good job is tough. Are you sure you want to go back though? If you were unhappy in the first place, I doubt that will change when you go back. Maybe an unemployment agency could help you find something. But if you are in need of money and have to go back I would be honest with them, maybe they will meet your needs.

Eh, I wouldn't. I'd stick it out and try even harder. I wouldn't be caught dead 'begging' for anything, especially, a job. Plus, it's only worse that you didn't like it in the first place. Nope, I wouldn't go back.

Re: Should I?....Shoudn't I?

Okay i would keep looking. It hasnt been long enough for you to give up. My motto is -find one before you quit your old one - but thats me. Go out of your bubble and apply for a range of jobs in a range of locations- walk in all dressed up and nice and keeping filling out applications until you find a store that needs to hire someone asap. PS: NEVER tell them you "just need a job" - always say "i really like this store" "i love retail" "i would be excited to work HERE" ..etc. Keep trying. You quit the last one for a reason.

Re: Should I?....Shoudn't I?

I'd keep looking. I've gone back to jobs I wasn't happy with and it's only worse the second time around, especially cause sometimes they can look at it like they're doing you a huge favor.
Here's a tip I've learned, don't just ask for an application, ask to speak to the manager, dress nice, and act VERY excited to work there. Tell them you have experience.
But if you catch a managers eye, you may just get a job that day. And if you can, make up a nice resume to bring with you, they'll take you more seriously AND they may not make you fill out an application (those can get old!). That's the best way to do it.
GOOD LUCK!
