Not really a rant... I don't rant much... More of a whin... And I always hated my kids whinning.... But the move into the new office building has gotten to me.... Yeah it's closer to home but I forgot to take into account the High School in between... and the highway is like a parking lot in the mornings so I have to take the back way and it takes me the same amount of time to get to work as it uesd to. 10 miles vs 3 miles both taking 20 minutes... I haven't been filling up my truck every week which is good.....

Then the new building is beautiful!!! Better be for 90 million!!! But my office sucks... it's small, and dark and I just don't enjoy working in it at all... Just about everyone else got giant offices with big windows and plenty of sunshine and I got a dark broom closet with a bad view.... I don't even have a table to put maps on because it wouldn't fit...

And who ever laid out our departmetn was an idiot... other departments were logically thoughout... with work groups placed together and copy areas organized with everything you would need... Our was like someone picked names out of a hat, and tried to break up work groups and spread them apart as much as possible... Our work/map room is in another departments area.... there's no table by the plotter to trim maps... Just no friggin common sence at all!! Makes getting things done less efficient..

And now we have a Bistro in the building, near the front entrance.... and it has great food... and that's the problem... I've gaind 6 pounds in 3 weeks.... In the old building we had the mall accross the street so it was a hike to get to... But now food is so near and they have the greatest cinamon rolls... I guess I'm so depressed over the new digs I'm eating out of control!!! I'm walking at noon more and playing ice hockey but my eating is like out of control and I have to stop soon....

And another annoying thing.... no light switches... the lights come on automatically and go off if there's no movement.. and since my monitor screens the sensor when I'm using the PC..... they just went out while I'm typing this... now in the dark!!!

I miss being near the mall and shopping... Were out in an technology office park and there nothing to do here.. The nearest shop is 7 miles away... Except for the ice rink accross the street where the Penns practice.... just large office building after large office building.... My wife also miss's my ability to run errands for her.... the good side is I'm not spending any money on new anything!!! sigh.......

And another thing.... one of my co-workers, every time I pass his office, calls me in to look at something... every friggin time!! 3 or 4 times a day!! So now I had to find a different route to the restroom... Which I did yeaterday and guess what... He shows up in my office yesterday afternoon... Hey Look at this!!! I could have screamed!!! hahaha

So I guess that's it... my whinnnnn No big deal and I'll get over it, I always do and life goes on...... The friggin light just went out again!!!!

it sounds like your office sucks but, on the plus side, all that extra walking to get away from the 'hey look at this' guy might work off all that extra cinnamon roll fat!

Seriously, once the league gets crackin you will be so focused on the Pens, you'll forget all about the room with out a view.

There was no was to tell whoever manages the place the layout sucks major ass is a re-do in assigning rooms can be done? Is that too much of a stretch, lmao.

Everyone hates the lghts.. And Friday I took left over stew for lunch and went to heat it up in the microwave.. Ever area has a galley with a nice frige and a sink and a microswave.. Wekk they mounted the microwave so high I couldn't see what I put in as it was heating and when I went to take it out it felt like lifting a bowl of boiling hot liquid out over your head.. I'm 5' 9" and there's no way anyone shorter could even use the stupid thing without getting potentially hurt.. I'm sending an article I found online about microwave safety and placement to out VP of safety tommorow.. Just plan no common sence..

That is so irritating Karren!!! That light thing would tick me off..and the microwave thingy! That is so against occupational health and safety regulations for sure! I hope you get some action after you send in your article!

The VP of safety is a friend and he will listen... There's also no sidewalks connecting the one around the building with the sidewalks by the street so everyone that goes walking at noon has to walk in the driveways with the cars... which I think is really stupid...

Sounds like things weren't really thought out as much as the higher ups thought they were. See if you can get one of the interns to take your room and move into the conference room.

All the interns have gone back to school, Lisa!! Sigh... But I sent off an email to the safety dept highlighting the microwave and a few other safety concerns.. I talked to one of my shorter female coworkers and she said she can't use the microwave at all.. And that a couple others have complained.. So we'll see...
