Sometimes I can't stand myself

I feel so needy and desperate lately. A lot of it has to do with having a lot of time on my hands - due to looking for a job. I hate it. It gives my mind time to think and obsess and get anxious and just drive me crazy.

I'm trying not to tell my boyfriend, I don't want to scare him. I'm also hoping that if I sleep on it I'll feel better in the morning.

Its nothing specific, I'm just an anxious person and now everything is getting to me.

Ugh. Advice?

Re: Sometimes I can't stand myself

awww, hun, sorry to hear that.

Basically, the only suggestion I can think to make is to busy yourself with a whole lot of tasks. It's hard when you don't have a job, because you obviously want to save money so you can't randomly join a club or take up language or dance classes.

BUT! give yourself tasks to occupy your mind. Maybe do a massive clear out of your makeup, shoes and clothes. Go through everything and re-organise it all. Alphabetize your books! try to apply for a few jobs a day with online job sites or in the local paper. Update your resume, practice some interview answers you might give. Basically, fill your days with as many things as you can. Before you know it you won't have the TIME to feel sorry for yourself.

please cheer up! if there is anything we can do, or if you ever need to talk, pm me

Re: Sometimes I can't stand myself

Good ideas Rosie! Maybe something else worth looking into is volunteering somewhere until you have a new job. That would be something to occupy time, and I know hospitals need volunteers most of the time, even if it's just helping out the mailroom or something.

If this is a "chronic" problem, the anxiety, then you might want to talk to your doctor. You could have some sense of anxiety disorder, and the last thing you want to deal with are anxiety attacks. Best of luck chica!

Re: Sometimes I can't stand myself

I find that sometimes writing things down helps. Whenever I feel anxious about something, or feel emotionally, mentally unstable, I try to keep a journal. I let everything out on a paper, just randomly, what I'm thinking, how I'm feeling, or just about the weather... and then I feel a bit better... well, for a little while anyways. And it also helps me figure things out too.

Re: Sometimes I can't stand myself

I'm in the same boat as you right now. I'm currently unemployed and it stresses me out. Like mentioned before, I try to keep myself occupied during the day or else I drive myself crazy. Keep searching - don't give up! Something will come your way soon.

Re: Sometimes I can't stand myself

I applied for two jobs today; one that I would KILL for. It's at a local public library, being an assistant part time. The pay is good, and the hours are right. I also applied at an Ulta. Not my first choice (kinda far away, being tempted with makeup, and the beauty field can be rough), but a job is a job.

I just find it so hard to get excited; I don't want to be disappointed again.

Thank you, ladies!

Aquilah; I am on antidepressants, and have talked to my doctor about the anxiety. I don't know what to do about it. Thank you, though
