So me and the girlfriend are looking for a motorbike, me cause I always wanted one her cause she always wanted one and so she can cuddle on the back of the bike.

While looking at bikes I seem to notice a trend if a bike is say 2005 and cost 8500 BRAND NEW the person will sell the bike 8300 used.

WHY!? How can a used bike cost almost the same brand new??

Also to any of you girls out there that do ride what do you ride, pics if possible.

I'm not sure why. I'd go for new then, if you can afford the extra - you will know where it has been and what use it has got, which are not things you'll know if you go for the second hand bike.

I'm interested to see what pictures are posted, since I know some of the other ladies here are riders!

Unfortunately, the answer is simple. Supply and demand. With the cost of fuel going throug the roof, demand for these previously "unwanted" vehicles (at least here in the US) is going though the roof. I suspect the suppy will loosen up as more are sold.

I agree with Lisa, I've seen more and more bike riders lately due to gas prices. We used to have two and recently my brother in law got a new one thats really pretty. Its red with green glazed on top so depending on where you're looking at from, it'll look red and then green and even some gold in it

Depends on the seller. Some people feel they should get almost what they paid for it and some just need the money and sell for cheap. Just keep looking around and I'm sure you'll find something. BTW, craigslist.com is excellent! Look there. Oh and here's my bike:

This is my motorbike


This pic is at least 15 years old, this bike does not any longer have the panniers, the faring and it now has a 4 into 1 pipes as those chrome ones rusted out. Ever since my seperation its been unregestered as I cannot afford to keep so many vehicles on the road at once (I have 3) with my present finances. Its sitting in my shed and one day I'll put it back on the road. Its 26 years old and it only about 35,000kms (21,000 miles) on the clock.


In answer to your question, as Lisa said its supply and demand, the value of any vehicle depends on its condition, mileage, popularity of the vehicle, replacement cost of the new current model and demand. I feel if a person is selling a used vehicle for close to what they paid for it new, it will be hard to sell as usually most new vehicles do depreciate.
