Workplace Rant - How effin rude are you!
LOL! So I said I wasn't gonna say anything, but I'm still pissed off, so here goes...
This dude that's on my design team came to me about 2 weeks ago, why? He needs help on this project he's doing, but he's overwhelmed... So I say sure, if I have time I'll help, cuz you know, team work, plus he's my senior, a source of a good reccommendation, you know...
So yesterday he emails me one of the lil thingies to work on for him, I tell him I'm working on my own stuff but I'll get to it. He tells me we need it this afternoon... I say ok, cool. I'll take a break and do it, which I did. He emails me another that same day and I remind him I have my own work, if it's not urgent I'll do it first chance, if it is, I can't. "Then you should stay late and do it" I laugh so he laughs too... Cuz obviously he was joking...
So first thing this morning I do the other one before I start my own work. Then I start working on my own stuff... He's walking past my office and stops in to ask "Did you get a chance to work on that stuff"
- "Yea, I did and I'm done, actually I"
- "YOU KNOW YOU SHOULD LET ME KNOW WHEN YOU FINISH IT!"
My face turns to stone, "Don't yell at me"
At which time he leaves my office. Later I check my email to see a message from him saying that appreciate if I let him know when I complete the work. So I reply back that the same info could be delivered without shouting. He responds that he wouldn't have to say anything "If you did your job right." I didn't reply...
What do you guys think?

I'm literally pissed reading this and this didn't even happen to me. I know it sounds childish but I wouldn't give him the finished work. I know theres a better way to deal with this but still... give him a taste of his own medicine without the shouting.

How messed up! He's a jerk and you should let him know that you didn't HAVE to do that work for him but did to help him out and he should treat you with a little bit more respect then that or next time he's on his own.

Re: Workplace Rant - How effin rude are you!
Here is my recommendation. Just give him the finished work and don't offer to help again. Don't talk to others in the office about this or your dislike for him. When you talk to him, keep it short and brief, just basic pleasantries. Yeah, you may want to tell him off or talk to your work buddy about it. Trust me on this, it's the best road you can take and will put you in the best possible light.

Re: Workplace Rant - How effin rude are you!
I would tell him that I was busy doing my own work and would politely tell him that you can answer questions but not do his work for him. He obviously has no respect for women because he's a dumb bully.

Re: Workplace Rant - How effin rude are you!
Next time he asks for help with something, I'd tell him "sorry, I'm too busy with my own work." He sounds like a really arrogant prick!

Re: Workplace Rant - How effin rude are you!
I'm not saying anything, and I've already decided I will be polite, but that will be the extent of it. Since I know where he stands, I won't be agreeing to working on any of his projects either... I will go out of my way to get projects elsewhere just so that I will be busy. Create more projects of my own...
He's not going to taint me. I'm an aspiring professional, and he's not going to keep/hold me back... This is good training, cuz the further you go, the higher you go, the more idiots you'll have to interract with who believe they have a moral foot to stand on... So I'm smiling my way thru this one.
Thank you for all your responses guys...

Re: Workplace Rant - How effin rude are you!
I'd say that if he's not your immediate boss... Then tell him that all work requests need to be routed through your boss first!! Doing a favor and helping out is one thing but this guy needs an attitude adjustment big time!!
