In fact, it could happen. The kind of allergy that you have when you wear something, like a earring or in this case, makeup, has different mechanisms of that kind of allergy that happens when you eat something or inhale polen. It's complicated to explain, but to shorten up, let's say that the first one takes a lot more time to show up than the second one and the immune system responds slower.

Have you ever tried a clinique tint that's very very light and has sunscreen on it? I used it once and it was really amazing *i had a makeover done at Saks 5th avenue at july

Have you changed anything else in your MU routine that may have affected your skin?

Re: Foundation...

No. I usually don't use foundation at all (with the problems of finding one that won't make me break out or itch my skin). In fact, I've not worn foundation in almost 10 years. At first, it was just because it was so heavy.

But, I don't remember having this problem...even when I was younger. Since I hit my 30's it seems that my skin is becoming more sensitive to a lot of stuff. I cannot use "regular" face washes...it burns my skin. So, I use something called Miracell to remove my make-up, I wipe it off with "Sensitive Skin" baby wipes and then wash my face with a baby shampoo. Anything else and my skin is peeling, or burning. Must be the 30's thing...at least, in the past year, I've used the same brand of everything and no problems. I stopped using Maybelline eyeshadows because they make my eyelids itch. Milani, MAC, Prestige, Stila, and Urban Decay do not do that...

Oh, the mystery is killing me!! LOL

Re: Foundation...

Venus, just read your post; i haven't been on this forum in ages. don't give up on mineral makeup, because of BE. Be has one or two ingredients in it, can't remember names, but they are known to cause alllergic reactions. Get a pure mineral, like cory mineral or some of the others that don;t include those harsh ingredients. I had the same response to BE, especially that warmth stuff.........got red blotches from BE.
If you want to email me , I"ll look up some names that don't have those ingredients that can irritate.
I agree with other poster about Jane Iredale, chalky and cakey stuff, yuk!
hope this helps peggy

Re: Foundation...

BE has bismuth in it (think that's what it's called) and a lot of people are allergic to it. But i agree that Liquid foundation does feel like a mask when u wear it and in this summer weather ... ehh ...

but ... just cuz BE didn't work for u, don't give up on Mineral Mu .. .it's the best thing ever. there's other company out there that makes MMu free of bismuth ...EDM is one ..

btw - have u found a good foundation yet ?

Re: Foundation...

Hi, thanks, no I haven't found a good foundation yet. All of the ones I've tried have either broken me out or made me itch really bad (it happens in stages, the first day it doesn't start itching until a couple hours after, then it happens sooner and sooner).

If you could list the other Mineral MU, I would greatly appreciate it. I don't like wearing foundation all the time, but for pics and special events, I would love to use it.

Thanks, all!!!

Re: Foundation...

I also like Prescriptives, I get the custom blended (your skin/face but better) and I also use the custom blended powder - love the look and feel of both. Good luck to you....

Re: Foundation...

I really like Prescriptives Custom Blend as well-- I like the look and the formulation isn't very heavy. Its a little pricey but well worth it.

Smile Re: Foundation...

I've tried so many different foundations from liquid to mineral makeup. The liquid foundations were too mask-like on me. My skin couldn't breathe. The mineral makeup I tried either made my skin itchy or blotchy. I never could get the hang of the way to apply it.

I have now switched to tinted moisturizer. My favorites (in order) are: MAC tinted spf 15, Stila spf 15, Prescriptives spf 8 and Laura Mercier spf 20.

When I use the Prescriptives, I have to use another sunblock because it has such a low spf. I wish they would change that!

Good luck with your search!

Mary

Re: Foundation...

i'd say use a tinted moisterizer or just spot foundation on uneven/troubled spots.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
it sounds like you should really try a mineral foundation!!!! I have used both Sheer cover and Bare Escentuals and both are great, but there are several other brands as well.

Sheer cover was my first mineral make up, it is great!!! Then I switched to Bare Escentuals because it matches my skin tone better then sheer cover. But sheer cover did have better coverage than BE if you have a lot to cover.

I don't understand...I took it back to Sephora and am now trying some water based foundation in hopes that it may work. *sigh*
Some people say that BE can cause allergy in people with very sensitive skin because it has mica in it. Maybe you could try a mineral foundation without mica....

Re: Foundation...

Omg.. i had the same problem with BE when I first got it.. When I wore it, my face started itching too.. my skin also turned was reddish n irritated. After trying it for a few days like that, I desided to used a SYNTHETIC BRUSH with the BE. I had no problem with my face itching. It could just be the brush that the BE came with. Try the BE synthetic face brush. It works really good...

I also love Prescriptives foundation.

Hope you find a good foundation.

Re: Foundation...

I concur with everyone who suggested mineral makeup. My aunt is super sensitive to almost everything under the sun, and she's had great success w/ BE... I liked it myself, but in the end, I decided to stick with my regular liquid foundation. Best of luck to you!
