Re: Do you get scared when you are home alone?
I actually never get scared when I'm alone ... I live in an apartment so I'm never truly alone anyway (though I wish I had a house all to myself). I used to get scared when I was younger and on my own after watching some horror film, but not anymore.
The only time I can remember that I got really really scared was after a bad dream some weeks ago. I'd dreamed that someone was breaking into my flat and coming at me, tearing my hair and everything - it felt so real, I got up and turned all the lights on to see whether there was anyone there.

I watch way too much CSI and other forensics shows. lol.
So, at times, I definitely get freaked out being alone. lol.

Re: Do you get scared when you are home alone?
Amanda, I do the EXACT same thing, almost to a T, but instead of a pug, I'll make sure I'm either on the phone with someone or act like I am, haha. As soon as I get home, I open every door, turn on all the lights, etc. Never go into the bathroom and close the door without opening the shower curtains, etc. I am not paranoid per se, but better safe than taking a dirt nap =/

It is amazing what darkness and an over active imagination can do. For years every camping trip seemed to have a huge bear sitting right outside my tent... of course it was only the wind moving the leaves.

Re: Do you get scared when you are home alone?
I get spooked out sometimes at night, especially since my apartment complex is not as safe as it used to be. I'm going to be moving out next year, though. We had a shooting here recently and have had lots of theft. Also, we had a serial rapist prowling around a few years ago.
I make sure that my windows and door is locked and I even sleep with my cell in my bed at night so I can call 911 if need be.

Re: Do you get scared when you are home alone?
LOL Tony!! I probably shouldn't be scared. My house has video surveillance and my BF stashes knives everywhere. I have a rusty machete under my mattress....haha.
I guess I should say" I ain't skeered, I'll slice and dice anyone who makes it into my house"

And if they don't die because of the slash, they will because of tetanus (isn't it a rusty machete? LOL)

Re: Do you get scared when you are home alone?
lol wow. um, JD.. actually, i'm a woman and believe it or not.. i do not have a crippling fear of jogging at night.. but, i do have common sense. why, as a woman, would i insist on putting myself at RISK? why would i make it a point to go jogging at 2am when there's 24 hrs in a day in which i could do so, more safely and practically? it's not always about fear. sometimes it's just common sense.
anyways, i'm an only child and my mother works alot so i've been home alone since i've been 11-12. i used to be really paranoid as a teen but, over the years i've gotten used to it and i don't really have any fears about being home alone. i guess that means i should leave my door open at 3am, though.. according to JD.. as to not let fear overtake me lol.. pbfttt.
there's absolutely nothing wrong with being cautious.. even extra cautious as some of you ladies are.. that's your choice and it's human nature/common sense.

Re: Do you get scared when you are home alone?
Ah don't worry Some of us don't live in Wonderland, so we have to be extra cautious.
Like me - i live in a violent country , where almost everyone i know has been robbed at least once or was around a violent place before - damn I was once inside of a robbery that took place on a store right beside my condo!
But i'm not afraid of being home alone that much, because i don't live at a house, but on an apartment , and it's nothing fancy.
(i got a bit afraid last night, but it was night, without any lights and i was alone)

Re: Do you get scared when you are home alone?
Usually, when I'm home alone, it's during the day so I don't get scared. However, I have never once showered in an empty house. For some reason it freaks me out! Even with a lock on the door. I always take a bath instead so that there's no chance someone could sneak up on me.
I also get afraid in the dark. Even if I'm just walking from the bathroom to the bed, every scary movie/horror scene I've ever watched pops through my head. Particularily, "The Sixth Sense."
