As I understand it, EM has their own manufacturing facility. It has been mentioned many times including articles and when Carina wrote about getting the new pressing machines for the new pressed powders.

I don't see why they couldn't upload the swatches, the new photos, new products, the video feature, etc. to the old site, instead of hyping it for months and have it not come out on time. It's clear that much hard work was done on the site, and I agree--it's beautiful, especially the photos of the models, but I'd still rather have new products on time anyday.
I agree with you. I think they wasted a ton of time and money redoing the site from the ground up. I think the new pictures are much more accurate, so I'm very grateful for that, but I hate that you can't just open product pages in browser tabs. That to me is super annoying. I think they should have just improved the old site which had a much nicer and more user-friendly layout IMO.

That said, I don't believe for a second that Carina postponed the soft launch on purpose. I think it was just typical IT crap with programmers that are not the most skilled. My company contracts out for computer tech people, and sometimes I think I know more about it than they do. I'm sure this whole new site fiasco cost EM a whole lot of money.

I'm not annoyed over it though. I checked to see if it was up occasionally over the weekend, but was expecting delays just because that's how technical stuff usually happens from my experience. They run into unforeseen problems, and I don't think Carina has enough of a technical background to anticipate the complexities and potential problems. Her team should have been more on top of it.

Also, I very much appreciated knowing what was in the works even if it took longer than expected, because I postponed ordering until the new products, samples and kits are available. I would have been much more frustrated if I had placed a big order and then surprise... I suddenly find I could have had many more options if I had waited. I've lived long enough to know that things usually don't get accomplished on time, so I am not upset when shit happens.

On a more positive note, I am really looking forward to seeing the new custom kit options. And apparently we will be able to choose custom samples to.

Carina posted that they are working on getting new sample containers that will be 80% recycled materials, biodegradable and hopefully allow EM to eventually offer 8-10 free samples in the free sample kit.

I'm sure it will take a while for that to happen, but one of the things I appreciate most about EM is that Carina is not greedy and goes against the trend of just maximizing profits as much as possible. Most companies, when they get popular enough, raise their prices as much as they can to increase profits while quality plummets. Carina on the other hand seems to be committed to keeping EM as affordable as possible while maintaining the highest quality. And that's I appreciate more than anything.

What are your future plans for Everyday Minerals?
No matter what, Everyday Minerals will remain the humble boutique brand it is today. We will actually work harder to reduce prices, create better products, improve client services, and make the brand just that much more accessible. For example right now we are setting up distribution centers in the EU and in Australia in order to provide quicker shipping. Everything this brand makes is reinvested into the company. We take care of our employees and provide them with the top wages and perks, and we keep things humble and relaxed at home. We still only drive one car, and live in a beautiful but modest little home in the countryside. Our plans dont involve anything else but giving as many women (and men!) the opportunity to have access to organic all-natural products at real and reasonable prices. It just makes sense. And it is a whole lot of fun too!!!
I have to say, I really admire that attitude and philosophy.

The models on the new site look Photo Shop/Airbrushed. I was hoping they'd put some 'mature' models on the new site too.

Re: EDM discontinuing products without notice !

I agree Laurie Lu, and I'd also like to see unretouched before and afters. That would be much more helpful IMO.

Yes, "before & after" photos are the best advertisement.

Well , I would be agruing this big time. I used to work in the IT industry for a long time and hubby still works there. It is true that there is a lot of crap programmers out there, as a lot of crap of everything. If you are not willing to pay for a professional service, you'll get what you are paying for.
Based on the condition of the site right at this moment, I maybe only maybe would announce the a fix launch date today for 2 weeks from today.
The custom kit feature link is not even working, so people can not even order a sample kit from the new site. This is a major issue.

Also I agree with the previous gals about putting pictures from 15 years old models with flawless skin is just so unreal. Most of the MMU site do not dare to put up real before/after pics from everyday people. Women who old, women who have problematic skin: acne, rosacea, dark undereye circle etc.

These newbies were posting stuff like they were long time loyal users of EDM products and it didn't seem genuine to me nor did they seem like real 'newbies'. I've been there long enough to notice how real newbies introduce themselves and ask for help finding their perfect shade. You see the progression of finding something new and learning how to use it and liking it.

These suspicious newbies didn't begin posting in this manner. To me they felt like they were 'planted' there to make the the opening of the new site more dramatic. Just like paid actors.

However I could be completely wrong though. I find the whole thing very intertaining in a funny kind of way. Such drama.
Reading through some of these posts, I thought I was totally alone in the handling of things at everyday minerals.

I've seen so many ladies hurt by the whole thing, it makes me sad. All over Carina's money, kwim? She's making millions, making promises she can't keep (the timelines) and I DO understand "stuff" happens, but my goodness! People hurt over makeup and then Carina herself starts "bashing" "groups"... very unprofessional if you ask me.

Not sure if I'll be ordering anytime soon. Seems like it will be a bit before any new specials are up and that's disappointing for me. Oh well.

The new site is still in beta format and being tested. That is explained in the "News" section of the old site.
