So I wore the smokey eyes to work. I used amber lights on the lid and smoked it up with contrast (both by MAC). I then lined the upper and lower lids with my MAC smolder pencil and 2 coats of Rimmel Eye Magnifier mascara.

I get to work and the cashier in the caffeteria goes "You always do your makeup so nice. Not everyone can do their make up like that. You're really good!"

I was stunned - I mean obviously I know it looked good, or I never would have gone out like that, but wow! I wasn't expecting any compliments at all. I felt sexy - but not overdone all day! I'll be doing a daytime smokey eye at least 1x or 2x a week from now on. I don't go clubbing, so I thought what's the point of perfecting the smokey look, if I never wear it out?

I actually did a smokey green look today for work/school and i think it looks adorable, not "omg what have you done" kinda look but yet nice and different than the norm!

Im glad you did it and it worked out for you. I know, I get so confused when I look at how much eyeshadow I have. I wear eyeshadow now like once or twice a week tops. And when I did that grey smoky eye I felt so overdone all day, I dont know why lol I liked it when I did it in the morning, but I kept getting looks, so I guess I didnt do too much of a great job on it.

Smoked eyes are really all about the technique and the effect, rather than the colors you choose. Most associate a smoky eye with black and gray or black and silver etc. But in reality you can do so with whatever colors you choose as well as softly for a different effect.

It is one of my favorite looks personally, and I tend to use it in a lot of forms all the time!

I think it really depends, but I definitely think a smokey eye can be rocked in the daytime
