Hi everyone!
I have had a few questions about this, so I thought I would post info here to clarify why you received a confirmation e-mail.
I was preparing the sales letter for the 4th of July sale and realized I had so many people signed up for my
newsletter it had bumped us into a higher monthly rate for the service we use. Which is great since we want people to be interested! However, some of the subscribers had not been to our site in a long time and many of the e-mail addresses were bouncing back to us as undeliverable. So, in order to clean up the list we decided it would be best if we sent out an opt-in e-mail. Everyone on our list automatically received this opt-in. I realize this may seem weird if you had just signed up on our site recently, but we were unable to pick and choose who received it and we had some names from 5 years ago that signed up to be alerted when our site was officially open :/
If receiving this e-mail in any way confused or insulted anyone, we are deeply sorry. I was simply trying to keep our monthly costs down, since we only send out
newsletters about 6 times a year.
Thank you for understanding and I hope you all opt-in to receive our sale announcements!

I'm not sure why you would think it was rude to begin with. A lot of places send confirmation emails to ensure that you signed up. I realize thats usually right after you sign up and it had been 14 days since you signed up but it's actually polite rather than spamming you with emails you may not have signed up for.
