Re: Pressing mmu

I put the e/s sample in a little jar (I was using a 5g), and added about 3 drops of sanitizer. Stirred it up with a toothpick, adding little drops of sanitizer until it was that wet clay consistency Korin talks about in his EnKore video. Then I scraped it into the compact well, tamped it down as best I could with the toothpick, and then I covered it with a cotton cloth (I used a crummy bandana) and pressed it down with my thumb. Depending on how much product was in the well, I sometimes had to press deeper with a forefinger (the sample sizes were rather erratic - kind of surprised me!). Then I continued on with the next color. I made sure to keep track of where I put which color, so I could write the color names on the back, over top of the corresponding color.

ETA: I read through the ingredient listings on the hand sanitizer bottles for quite a while before I found the one that I decided to use. They don't all have glycerin in them, or aloe. I *may* try dissolving a bit of Monistat gel into some for a touch of dimethicone....but I have no idea if that would work or not.

I used my pressed samples today, and they work very nicely! They *are* rather hard, so it's a good thing that I usually do a wet application. Picking up color with a damp brush worked just fine. I know that some of you warn against getting them wet....but I figure these are SAMPLE sizes, and I'm not going to have them hanging around forever. It's better than keeping track of a million little baggies or jars, anyway!

I pressed some Joppa samples I got during their last sale....and it was almost not worth it to do. Whoever it was that complained about how small SheSpace samples are needs to know that Joppa's samples are about HALF that size. Barely covered the bottom of the tiny little well in my compact! Cory samples are plenty big enough, and Meow samples are big enough to completely fill a well. Signature samples completely fill, too, some with a little left over!

Re: Pressing mmu

i don't if any of the other guys have, but thats what i was suggesting someone try.
the way i see it, its 4 bucks, and prolly enough liquid to compact at least 20 5 gram jars. besides that, it keeps bacteria from growing on the compac, which gives it a longer "shelf life" so to speak.
