Re: Careers?
Telecom here. I do central office work programming switches and fixing stuff hehe. It's boring to most people, but I enjoy it and it pays good. I also do web design on the side. I was a CS major, so I have no idea how I got into telecom... oh wait, yeah that whole new grad needing a job thing... That was a few years ago now though. :-)

Re: Careers?
I finished my Theatrical & Media make-up course recently (doing free work through-out the year) so just continuing doing freelance work for free and networking. So far i've done an independent film, kids days (face painting), a low budget musical (which I got paid for- yay!) and a few other bits and pieces (make-over days for the public etc). Its a bit annoying having to work for free, especially when I have an apartment and a little boy to look after but its what ya have to do in this industry!
Then in September im going back and doing my beauty therapy course.

Re: Careers?
I work for a local hospital as a Community Education Coordinator. I'm still in debate on going to Nursing school to become a Nurse Manager, or if I should get my Master degree. Believe it or not, I'll actually make up to $20k more per year as a Nurse Manager than I would getting my Master degree. Not to mention, since the hospital I work at has a Nursing school and excellent tuition reimbursement program, I'd be spending about $15k+ less!

Re: Careers?
I'm a Beauty Therapist (Aesthetician) and also have my nail technology certificate, so I'm a Nail Technician too I really enjoy my job, I just don't know if it's what I want to do for the rest of my life, but right now I am content to continue working in the beauty industry.

Bec do you ever feel like people look down on you because of your job?
When I worked on one film the majority of actors were lovely but a few of them were sorta snotty like theyre above me or something. I find that in certain jobs, people will look at you a certain way.

I feel the same way sometimes, but my dream is to operate a manufacturing business that distributes my own line of cosmetics. I feel that any dream is worth going after. I don't wanna get old and say well I wish I did this or I wish I had done that. You have to fight for your dreams whatever they may be and know that your future is totally up to you. (Hope i wasn't getting all mushy lol.)

I am in school to be a Social Worker and already hold a degree in Youth Care Work/Counselling.. but what I really want to do is Forensics.. aka be a Medical Examiner..
