I agree! I choose my friends based on personality and if we have a lot in common, I've never even thought about not being friends with someone because of their looks. That's so shallow, I think it's a lot more common in high school then when your older though.

That's definitely true... in high school, things were much different. People were a lot meaner and shallower... once you get out of that high school and into the real world, you see that the cool kids aren't any different than you, they just knew how to 'work the system', or something along those lines.

Nope. I do weed people out on character traits, like if you're someone who always sees the glass half empty(can't stand that!).

Re: Ever Choose Friends Solely Based On Their Looks?
I can completely agree on that one... I can't stand to be around people who are negative all the time. I know everyone has their down moments and that's what friends are for, to get you out of those moods. If you're always like that though, it's no fun to be around... it actually puts YOU in a bad mood and who wants that? Not me!

I'm the opposite! I choose less attractive friends so I look better in comparison!
Just kidding. Friends just kinda happen. They're the people I got along with, the personalities that clicked with mine.

Nope, never have. It's definitely shallow.

No I haven't. Mine range too. But I do choose who I'm going to go out with on how they are. Obviously I'm not going to go shopping with someone that doesn't like it. Or if I need opinions, someone who's style is the same as mine.

Friends just happen for me. Looks have nothing to do with friendship.

Re: Ever Choose Friends Solely Based On Their Looks?
uhm yeah i think i do generally strike up a conversation with a person man or woman based on looks or style That I think would have the same interest as me!!!! I mean i talk to everyone different styles race gender etc but choose only certain ones to be actually friends with otherwise I'd be hanging out with someone & have nothing to do or talk about!!!!!!! i mean EVERYONE does that EVERYONE I never seen a Gangster, a punker, a surfer, etc all go out to party together!!!!!!!! but of course im not gona not be friends with someone just cuz of soley how they look!!

Re: Ever Choose Friends Solely Based On Their Looks?
I would never choose someone to be my friend based on their looks..
But with that being said, all of my friends are attractive people to me!

Re: Ever Choose Friends Solely Based On Their Looks?
No. I'm pretty friendly with everyone, but I get close to people who share my sense of humour and general outlook on life. If they are good-looking, well...then they are.

Re: Ever Choose Friends Solely Based On Their Looks?
Well sorta i guess im drawn to certain people more than others, but mainly because i like a certain quality about the way they dress of do their make-up, or hair.. if it reminds me of me, or someone i love im more likely to want to be thier friend. however its personality and if they are a kindred spririt that really makes the diference!...

Re: Ever Choose Friends Solely Based On Their Looks?
I used to think about this all the time, because honestly, I don't have any "ugly" friends... they are all a pretty good looking group of peeps!
and then I would think- am I that superficial? To only have good looking friends?
But then my husband made the comment that maybe it's because I love them and so therefore, I can't see them for being unattractive, because their souls are attractive...
But then he also agrees- that we don't really have unattractive friends!
Who knows... I hope I am not that superficial.
EDIT
I just noticed I am 1 of 2 people who answered this way. I think it has to do with the way I used to socialize before getting married and having a family, and my friends that I have are extensions of that part of my life (in my former life, I just liked to party... and mostly dance... but a lot of partying- and I had no money so I would make sure I was getting in to places for free, so that meant a lot of schmooooozing and being in a certain "scene" in order to get away without having to spend a dime). This is in no way an excuse, but it may be a reason for I have the type of friends that I do...

Re: Ever Choose Friends Solely Based On Their Looks?
No, Jen... I totally feel how you feel.
I'mma say, some folks tend to gravitate to those who they find attractive or in the same group of attractiveness like themselves. I read about it in Psychology/Sociology class. I do see pretty folks hanging out together, I do see big girls hang out together... do I think it's a bad thing? I dunno. I don't think so - like Jen, I find all my friends to be pretty attractive looking but it could just be attractive to their personality?
