Canon powershots are very good.
But they aren't actually the cheapest.
Sonys are affordable and are good enough but they aren't the greatest.
You don't need to get a cam with more than 7.1 MP.
But you do need macro to take close up pics.
And thats all I can think of right now.. LOL

I always go to various sites for information before I buy electronics. I like the reviews on Tech product reviews for cell phones, computers, MP3 players - CNET.

NIKON I swear by it. If you are going for zoom go for high optical zoom NOT digtal zoom...They come a ton of cute colors....but my second choice is the Sony Cyber Shot....I can't believe noone has recommended it...Go to best buy and just try all of them out...

I have a Canon Powershot A75. I really like it. They still make the powershot series but with more pixels etc. The A75 is an older model. Canon is a wonderful brand. Another great website for reviews on cameras is Digital Camera Reviews and News: Digital Photography Review: Forums, Glossary, FAQ .I hope this helped.
