As I am sure you all already know, the Grammys were tonight! I’m usually not way into awards shows, but I’m all about the Grammys! Music keeps me alive. I can listen to music and instantly be in a completely different mood. I could go on and on about music, but that’s not what you are here for. My love for fashion and beauty is pretty much equivalent to my love for music, so naturally I have stalked down all the stars on the Red Carpet. There were many many looks that I loved, but Carrie Underwood was just absolutely stunning! I may be biased being from Tennessee and growing up on sweet tea and country music though. So here’s my version of Carrie’s look and how to achieve it!
Carrie had a totally flawless face as a base for this look. We all strive for perfect skin, but it’s not always that easy. Laura Mercier’s Silk Creme Foundation has incredible coverage, and will leave you looking something close to Carrie. I know many people who have used and loved this product, including myself. Apply it with a brush for the most even coverage!
She doesn’t have much color on her cheeks, but I think MAC’s Powder Blush in Mocha would give that nice subtle flush. My mom and I both use this blush and love it! It is matte and and the perfect color for any skin tone. This is the definitely the shade that comes to mind when I simply hear the word blush. It is just the right mix of pink, plum and rose tones all in one little pot! A light brushing of this on your temples will work wonders.
As far as shadow goes, Carrie kept it fairly basic. You can’t see her lids and the makeup completely, due to the extreme eyelashes going on, but it’s definitely tones of browns. I think the Dior 5-Colour Eyeshadow palette in Grege would be great. It has more cool toned browns and a nice grey to add that smoky feel. Oh, and like always, apply your favorite eye primer pre-shadow. Urban Decay Primer Potion is my personal fave!
You can barely see it, but Carrie has a a smudge of golden shadow right under her bottom lash line. It really makes her eyes pop and adds instant glamour! L’oreal’s Infallible Eyeshadow in Eternal Sunshine would work really well for this look. I would probably dampen a brush similar to MAC’s 214 Shader and apply this shadow lightly under the bottom lashes. She only really has it concentrated right under her iris, but make sure to blend it out to the inner and outer corners. We don’t want any harsh lines here!
While at Target a week or so ago I picked up Revlon Luxurious Color Smoky Crayon in Black Smoke. I didn’t have very high expectations, but I wanted to give it a shot. Boy, I was really surprised with this pencil! It’s super creamy and smooth! The liner rolls up out of the tube, and a convenient little sharpener is hidden in the bottom end. The first time I used it I was thoroughly impressed with the application but didn’t really think it would last long. This stuff didn’t end up smudging one bit! It reminds me of Urban Decay’s pencils, except this one is a bit more crayon like and soft. You can smudge it any which way you please and the color payoff is awesome! Apply this to the top lash line and use it to tightline the bottom. You’ll have an amazing dramatic eye the second you put it on!
Now we are at the real show stealer…her lashes! Woo baby, those are some serious falsies. At first glance I didn’t really care for them, but now I’m really into the almost clumpy, separated look. MAC’s 44 Lashes are my pick to best achieve this look. They have some longer and shorter pieces just like Carrie’s, and they are the closest thing I could find! If these are too long for your liking you can always easily cut them down to fit your style. Glue these suckers on, and after a bit of waiting go over them (and your real lashes of course) with your favorite mascara! My current favorite is Maybelline’s Colossal mascara!
Carrie let the light shine on her eyes and left the lip neutral. They are a pretty basic pinky nude, and I think MAC’s Lipstick in A Perfect Day would do just the trick. I adore MAC’s lippys! They are super moisturizing and don’t leave your lips with that icky dry lipstick feel. This lipstick will leave you with a little sheen, but you can always add some clear or nude gloss on top for extra shine! And of course, always make sure you exfoliate your lips before hand. There is nothing worse than lipstick on top of flaky lips!
Who was your favorite beauty at Grammy night?! How do you feel about Carrie’s look? I personally love it! It’s glamour and natural in perfect unity!
