I tried this based on a recommendation from a friend.... I like the mascara, it does lengthen and volumize..... but it smells. It smells like roses. So for the first 2 hours of the day after applying, I can smell roses coming from my eyelashes. I'm ambivalent as to whether or not this is disturbing me enough to not buy again......

I wouldn't repurchase this mascara. It did make my lashes look voluminous but I found it too clumpy. The brush is huge and somewhat awkward to work with.
Ok, so let me start by saying I knew better. I have never been a fan of Maybelline mascaras in the first place, but maybe it was the huge bright yellow tube that enticed me.... I am so not impressed with this mascara. The wand comes out really gloppy, you have to wipe it onto a napkin before you can even get started or it is clump city. The smell was a turn off too, a really strong mix between a sharpie and and scented ink. (you remember those pens and markers that were supossed to be scented like berries and what not when you were a kid? Yeah, those.) I did not like it at all. The formula takes FOREVER to dry in between coats and clumps easy. Overall opnion is save your money, or go with Cover Girl Lash Blast instead. Much better formula.
Pros:none that i can see, maybe the color is a nice dark black? I am really trying to think of something nice to say.... Cons:Super gloppy formula, strong odor, takes forever to dry, clumps easily.
This mascara is good because it's very dark and it'll make your eyes pop. However, I do agree that it doesn't curl or give volume to your lashes but it gives length. The wand this comes with has bristles that are too far apart and that may be the reason it doesn't give that voluminous look. This is the only mascara that I use but instead of using its wand, I opt for the L'Oreal Voluminous wand.

I got his bogo at walmart and i did buy the one in the green tube. I am very pleasantly surprised. I don't however like the bendyness of the applicator where it meets the brush, its "bouncey" , although the green part itself is fine. I just used my lash out brush. I got a very flirty,long, seperated look. I curled after and then applied a light coat of waterproof and it looked amazing! And kept the curl. When i try that w/others the formula is too heavy and they fall after a few hours. I have tried numerous maybelline mascaras and this one is def the best! Next time i will try the volumizing one. Even better, i have been killing my lashes for the last few years with WP and this hopefully will help them go back to the way they used to be.

Overall I wasn't very impressed with this mascara.
Although it was very black which I liked I wouldn't buy it again. It was too clumpy and didn't really lengthen my lashes. Also, the brush was awful!! No wonder it didn't lengthen my lashes when the brush hardly had any brisstles on it!
Definatley not one of Maybellines best mascaras.

I got the Define-a-lash volume version of the mascara that's in a purple/red coloured tube rather than a green tube.
I really like this mascara! Makes my eyelashes crazily long and seperates too. No clumps and lots of volume! I would recommend it to anyone. I like the brush a lot although it hurts wayyy more than a normal mascara wand if you poke yourself in the eye with it! ouch!
Only thing that annoys me is a problem I have with the tube. It has too much suction and the hole is quite small (supposed to be so that you don't get too much mascara on the wand) so you have to pull harder than usual to get the brush out and I sometimes feel like this function has pulled all the mascara off the wand.
Apart from that, a great mascara over all.

Honestly I don't know why I ever bother to buy any other "high-end" mascaras. This is the best mascara ever!! I love blackest black and black brown right now.
I decided to give this a try, because many people love it(mostly because it was BOGO free). I really don't like it. It leaves my lashes sticky and weighed down. It's so heavy that it tends to pull out any curl in my lashes. It clumps up on me like crazy. It doesn't flake though, and washes off easily enough. It also is very black as the name suggests. Overall I was disappointed with this and will not be repurchasing.

I like this mascara, it definitely lengthens my lashes. But the primer goes on white, and I can never seem to cover it completely, so I never use that side. It's a waste of $ if you cant use the primer.

this is my total FAVORITE mascara at the moment! it gives a LOT of volume [even though it is a lengthening mascara!]. it really pumps up my makeup & makes me look more awake. it stays all day, no flakes. no clumps. VERY nice mascara. o but if you like to bend the applicator at an angle before using it, you can forget it with this one. the stem is very stiff & will not bend.

I do like this mascara a lot! I have super short lashes (sadness), so finding a good mascara for me is crucial - plus I am too lazy to apply falsie every morning. I have always used the expensive Lancome Mascara, which is fab but quite expensive. I have tried several coveted macaras as well. After using this mascara, I will never go back to the expensive stuff! This mascara does dramatically lengthen my lashes while separating them nicely and my lashes also remained curled ALL DAY!
I didn't like the short wand which made it a little difficult to apply and can get messy. There seem to be very little product because of its compact packaging - one side having microfiber basecoat.

I really liked this product! At first the bendy brush was difficult to use but once I got the hang of it I found it really easy. I liked the flexibilty of the brush and how it made it easier to get to all the lashes. Once I'd used it my eyes looked bright and wide awake. I definatley thought it lengthened my lashes! The only thing that wasn't that great about this product was the fact that it didn't make my lashes that thick and for someone who wants extra thickness I wouldn't go for this mascara.

I picked up the waterproof version of this a couple weeks ago. I really like how it makes my lashes look thick. It seems to last through the day. The only thing I don't like is that it is a fairly wet formula. I end up having it smudged on my upper lash line. I don't usually have this problem with other mascaras. For the price though, this is a very good mascara.
World's most overrated mascara. The brush it way to big and is impossible to coat each individual lash, so it will coat four or five at a time. It does lengthen and darken pretty well, but thickens with a clumpy mess. It also does hold curl, but I'd recommend the curved brush version instead.

One of the best overall mascaras I've ever used. It makes them longer than most mascaras, as well as thicker. The brush is amazing second only to the unstoppable brush, I actally keep it when the formula is gone.

This mascara is especially for people who are in need of volume and only that. It makes tehm longer and thicker, but not very much. It does make them darker.
