I honestly do love the MAC Select Cover-up Concealors. I have very dark circles and this comes in a shade of lime green and covers beautifully. I simply blotted it on my under eye with a sponge and smoothed it in--it covered beautifully. The packaging was just there, nothing special, price for 10 ml was 14.00 which I thought was pricy but all together it is the typical great MAC product. Defineately will buy again
I am a MAC NW20, pale olive skin, brown hair and eyes, oily
I have this in NW15. I use as an undereye concealer only. The consistency is definitley sheer and light, almost watery, but this is nicely pigmented with really good natural looking coverage.
I put this on before foundation to avoid the raccoon eye look. It takes some effort to blend properly and you have to work quickly, but this is an excellent every day concealer
(NC30) At first I was disappointed because it was so small, considering how much it cost, but this is my HOLY GRAIL of a concealer! Seriously I am so soooo impressed with it. I apply it with a Ruby&Millie foundation brush on areas a want to cover. Then i apply my regular foundation over it. My skin looks PERFECT!! Annnd a little goes a long way!
So glad I found this!!!
Pros:covers any redness, don't need to use too much, lasts all day! Cons:NONE at all
i have tried alot of concealers ..its one of the most important day to day items i use..i tried using mac's select cover up and studio finish.
Mac select cover up: personally i hated this one by the end of the day it made lines more visible it had gone into all the creases..i have oily skin and this was terrible it caused a break out..great cover but it didn't even last half a day for me.
Mac studio finish spf 35: definatley a better concealer the the select cover up ..but it caked on ..it was very thick..and does have amazing coverage i even tried to cover a bit of my tattoo with it and it worked ..just it looked like you could have scraped a layer off my face ..
i wouldnt reccomend either of these concealers especially if you have oily skin
It's a very thick concealer, and there's tons of product, so it'll be awhile before it runs out.
It does tend to settle into fine lines and it does tend to cake a little bit, so it's essential to make sure that the conealer is well blended before you set it for a smooth finish.
Pros:Tons of product. Cons:Cakiness. Settles into fine lines.
With SPF 15 it would seem as if it would be good, but that's not the whole case. It serves better off as just a regular concealer rather than eye concealer. While it does a pretty good job covering blemishes and skin perfections but it may cake on you quite a bit. It has a nice color selection an is packed in a deep,PLASTIC, container and is highly portable with a flip-top lid.
Pros:Cover well, deep pan, product will last you long. Cons:Cakes quite a bit. A little hard to blend in the eye area.
I have been using this concealer for about 6 months or so and I am
really happy with it. it does an amazing job at covering those dark
circles and blemishes. I am lucky that I found a perfect color match
at mac. I use my concealer brush to apply the concealer around my
eyes, lips and any blemishes.
I was hesitant to try this because of all the mixed reviews...but, I have to say that I really like it..has a pretty good color selection..It's in a little tube..in which I like better than a pot..cause then you don't have to stick your fingers in..It takes only takes a smidge for me and I didn't find it at all hard to blend..by either using my fingers or a brush. It also stayed smooth and lasted throughout the day...didn't really accentuate any lines. I don't have really bad dark areas under my eyes ..so it covered well and evened out the color. Have to say that I haven't had a bad experience with it. and actually the price is not bad for the comparison of others that I have tried.
This is exactly what I wanted the Select concealor to be. This is thicker and has infinitely more coverage and I love that it has a high level of SPF.
I'm not sure why, but MAC SAs don't reccomend this. When I was browsing through, the SA actually tried to redirect me towards the Select Cover Ups even though I told her that I had already used them and was unpleased with the results.
She was hesitant to sell me this and I can't understand why. I'm just thrilled that I can finally stop using Studio Tech as a Concealor because this really gets the job done.
Me: NC43, GGG, Green Eyes, Jet Black Straight Hair, Combination/Sensitive Skin
Pros:GREAT coverage Cons:Wish there were more color choices
Before buying this, I would use Studio Tech as my concealor because their was a great color selection and its so uber pigmented.
I was in a wedding last February and decided it was time to put on my big girl pants and buy a real concealor. Unfortunately, I bought the wrong one. While I can tell this is a great product, it just doesn't suit my needs. I want a formula that's thicker and can really cover spots and hypermentation scars from past spots. This product just couldn't do it.
This is supposed to be builable, but it starts to look obvious if you put too much on in one place.
I do kinda like this product. But not enough to repurchase.
Me: NC43, GGG, Green Eyes, Jet Black Straight Hair, Combination/Sensitive Skin
Pros:Great color selection. Lots of product for your money Cons:Too liquidy and not enough coverage
this is by far the best full coverage concealer i've ever tried. kevyn aucoin's sensual skin enhancer is full coverage and i love it, but it's nowhere near as moisturizing as studio finish. i can apply SF by itself and it'll blend like a dream. i use it to cover my acne/scars and it works very well. i also love the fact it has spf 35, which i've never seen in a concealer before. this wears well, but only if you press loose powder over it, which basically goes for all foundation makeup. the reason i gave it a 4 is because sometimes it does get cakey, but you just have to apply it with a light hand. this isn't meant for piling on. i'm definitely gonna repurchase when i run out!
i'm a little torn about this. i originally bought this for acne scars because alone, i i knew it wouldn't cover my dark circles very well. because it's so moisturizing, i just don't think it's deal for anything but eye area. it didn't really cover my scars up too well. one day, a user on the forum recommended mixing this with a hard-to-blend concealer, like kevyn aucoin's (which i've reviewed, as well). i tried it and it's now a part of my HG dark circle combo! the moisture in this helps blend the very opaque concealer. i'd also like to add that the packaging is great and simple, like most of mac's, but for some reason, i always find it leaks out when it's not in use. it could be just mine, though.
Pros:moisturizing, color selection, price, easy to blend, widely available Cons:packaging seems to leak
I have a huge problem with redness in the winter and I've heard before that green is supposed to neutralize the red. So I've tried the green colour correctors from Maybelline and Body Shop and though both kind of worked, I find that the Mac Select Cover Up in Green works much better! I absolutely love it! It doesn't leave a chalky/dry look after application like the other two did and it gives great coverage!
Pros:Works great! Cons:Some stuff squirts out when you first use it.
This is my heavy duty concealer, used to cover undereye circles and dark pimgent spots. This covers well but will creep if not touched up with powder during the day. Great color range. In comparison it to Bobbi Brown's Creamy Concealer, and this is the winner. Bobbi's colors are a bit too yellow.
The MA recommended this for me since I wanted something that wouldn't settle into fine lines or crease around my eyes. It doesn't do any of that but it's just too drying for me and hard to blend. It's okay for the face but I don't like it for my eye area at all. It was also too light for me but it's the shade I normally wear in the studio finish so I dunno just not too impressed with it.
First what a great price for the amount of the product in the tube and the quality of it. Secondly I am very pale and finding a concealer that is light enough is a problem. Finding one light enough and that works too... almost impossible until I tried Select Cover NW15. I love it, it covers my dark circles w/o settling in my fine lines and does not break me out. For me I think I have my HG concealer, time will tell because I am always looking at new product.
Pros:Covers my pale skin without settling in my fine lines. Cons:None so far.
Re: the MAC concealer stick... I would be TICKED!!! Anyway, I was a makeup artist for more years than I will admit and my advice is to go back to that MAC store, ask for a manager or someone in charge, (bring a hand mirror with you) and go outside of the store. Apply the concealer stick and show her the ill matching one you were sold (I hope you have the receipt, if not you will get credit) and that you wanted it to use just on spots and without makeup.Ask that she make the purchase right and give you the correct color or credit, whchever you want. The lighting in the stores is NOT the same as day outside light and the make up consultant SHOULD have taken you just outside the door to check the match. That is what I did for all concealers, bases.etc to get the REAL color and never had a return due to color. She should have known this. I remember customers saying "I can't see any color" until I took them outside. I also remember customers leaving with bags full of product and looking like crazy hookers when they left because the consultant didn't explain the lighting difference, didn't show them the difference and the customer insisting on MORE. You were sold the WRONG product and as a consumer deserve and have a right to have it corrected. If there is a problem ask for the MAC main office number and speak with a supervisor there. They know that an unhappy customer is one that will tell ANYONE AND EVERYONE about their experience in their store. Good luck and BE STRONG!
I am not too crazy about this concealer for under my eyes. I found it to be a little too heavy and it settled in the fine lines I have making them more obvious and not less. I think it is versatile as I use it as a base for my eyeshadow and to cover spots on my face.
I love this concealer!! It is moisturizing and does not settle and cake into fine lines under eyes. Brings light and helps to cover up dark circles without looking obvious. Blends very evenly into the skin. Love the wand applicator that helps make it very easy to apply just where needed.
