I have a friend who just raved and raved about MAC Cosmetics so I gave in and decided to try one of their foundations. From the get go I was not impressed. The makeup artist picked a color that was way too dark and I ended up picking out a lighter one myself and applying it with them watching because my skill was better than theirs. Even the lightest one was a little too dark making it hard to blend effectively into the jawline. Like an idiot I thought it was just the harsh store lighting but color looked worse outside! I echo many reviews in saying that this product is very yellow!! Not for us pale girls at all! Coloring issues aside it does provide nice coverage for a short time, but I found that it tends to slide around and clump together if you don't reapply powder several times a day. I am sad to say that I would NOT recommend this product, and I had such high hopes!!!!
This make-up is ok, but nothing spectacular. I have extremely oily skin and acne and this founation covered pretty good and controlled the oil alright. I did have to blot a few times and reapply powder throughout the day. And the color match was not good at all. When first applied it matched perfectly, then it progressively started looking orange. Estee Lauder Doublewear is much much better!!
Pros:Coverage is ok, a little goes a long way. Cons:Too expensive, colors are not good.
i first tried this in usa and have loved it with all my heart as its the only brand that actually covers my dark blemishes and works flawlessly in my skin colour.
Pros:full coverage, doest get oily, easy to use, lasts for a long time. Cons:just its price.
Pros:First off, a great choice of colours. Second off, it goes on easily with fingers, blends well, stays put all day and gives a porcelain look to my skin (I'm using NW25). As a little goes a long way, this foundation is worth every single penny I spent.
Cons:The bottle should be improved w/a pump. I wouldn't recommend Studio Fix to people with acne as it offers a light-medium coverage. Maybe the price (€ 27 here in Italy).
I can't figure this foundatoin out...everytime I go to the store, they say nw20. But once I get it on it's like too orange...maybe I'm not doing it right but it is also very thick, I guess this is somewhat good becuase it is nice coverage but most times I have to "dilute" it out.
Pros:coverage Cons:thick, colors seem to be hard to match
This foundation comes in a pump which I love. It gives you a glow because the foundation has a bit of shimmer in it, so I'm not sure if it is suitable for mature skin and oily skin. It gives light to light-medium coverage. Smells kind of like play-doh. The scent is really light and goes away quickly.
Be careful with MAC foundations as it breaks some people out.
I want to echo the feeling that this foundation is just to yellow. It has great coverage if you don't mind looking like you have a mask on. You could probably mix it with another color to tone down the yellow but why do that for the money your paying.
I didn't really like this. I had high hopes for it, and it does cover blemishes etc, but i found that it left my face feeling wet all day. This didn't dry in at all and if i touched my face it would come off on my fingers & leave them damp. The size of the bottle is really good- you're getting a lot of product and the range of shades are good, but overall i wasn't impressed
Pros:value for money
good size Cons:left my face wet
rubs off
I have tried numerous foundations: Prescriptives, Mary Kay, Revlon, Cover Girl, Ebony Fashion Fair to name a few. I finally broke down and tried MAC Studio Fix liquid foundation. I just KNEW it would break me out. The SA at the counter was very generous in giving me samples. I got NW 45 and NC 50 to see which I would like better. Believe it or not, both seem to match my skin tone pretty well. It doesn't feel thick on my skin when I apply it with my foundation brush. It has decent staying power despite the fact I am VERY oily in the T-zone. Used with the pressed blot powder by MAC, it makes my face look smooth and even toned. And best of all, it didn't break me out like the Studio Tech foundation. I believe I will purchase when my samples run out.
I really like how matte and long wearing it is, but I didn't like the colour selection because the lightest shades available are all too dark and too orange. The bottle is glass and I'm too clumsy to deal with that and the pump is sold separately and I prefer one for liquid foundations because it's more hygenic. After a couple of weeks I broke out and I don't have acne prone skin. I tried it a couple weeks later when my skin was clear again and it broke me out again.
Pros:long wearing, matte finish Cons:broke me out, didn't have good colour selection, poor packaging.
Nice foundation. Good coverage but I do wear concealor for blemishes and dark circles. Nice packaging. I like a pump but you have to purchase it extra. Good quanity for price. One of the cheaper, higher end foundations. Buildable. Large variety of colors. Like SPF. Good yellow tones, not orange.
I really like this tinted moisturizer, on me I get a nice dewy finish from it. One bottle seems to last forever even with daily use, you only need a little bit if you're looking for light coverage.
Only drawback with this product is that you do need some kind of powder to set it, or you'll find it smudged off on papers around you and your clothes etc.
Well worth the $ though since it gives such a nice, natural finish.
I love this foundation. It makes me look great and I love the coverage on me and it lasts a good while without touchups. Alone, it has a dewey finish and can also be set with powder. I also love the fact that the bottle is already designed with a pump. Its a little pricey but it is MAC and I still think its worth it. I would definitely buy it again.
Pros:goes on smooth, great coverage, long lasting, bottle designed with a pump Cons:none really... maybe the price.
I have oily skin esp t-zone and love this foundation. I use MAC 190 foundation brush to apply this. It has a great buildable, long lasting coverage which is perfect IMO as it covers my freckles =) though drys pretty quickly so you have to blend it in quite quick, leaves the skin with a great matte, flawless finish and doesn't look cakey at all.
To me, MAC just has the weirdest shades of foundation, particularly the Studiofix makeup. Shades are just too yellow!! The foundation feels quite thick in consistency and dries fast so you need to blend, blend, blend really quickly! Overall I am very disatisfied with this product, the MuA sold me a color that was too dark for my skin and i just hated how it darkened on my face and looked yellow
This is my first Mac foundation, and probably the last. For the positive feedback, i have found my shade, NC30, and the MuA were very helpful. They know their stuff, I appreciate that.
It gives a medium coverage, so if you have big scars to hide, it may be not enough. Though you can easily built a look by adding another cover of foundation on your face (my cheeks for me and some pimples). The foundation is easily applied on the face and blends well.
Now, there is also some risks at buying Mac foundations. Each time I use itI risk having acne breakouts, shame because I was finally getting rid of my pimples.
Pros:-lots of shades, you can surely find one suiting you Cons:-may cause people breakouts
-you have to buy a pump or you risk wasting some product
Well, I like the coverage. You can kind of build it but it works better with concealer. The only thing that I don’t like is that it fades. By the end of the day it looks as if I have nothing on. However, the primer does help a lot, plus it doesn’t make me break out as much. This foundation is awesome for everyday use.
MAC Select SPF 15 Foundation in NW20: I received this sample as a RAOK for a lovely user here on MUT, when I was on a quest to find a shade that would work for me. At the time there was no MAC counter near by that I could get a sample from. This is a water based foundation and gives medium to full coverage, buildable.
This shade was too light for my skin, but gave me a good idea on it’s performance. This was not a perfect foundation for my extremely oily skin and I wanted to try the MAC SFF as I heard this has more oil control to it. This may work in the winter months, but no way in the hot summer months. Even though Select says it’s water based and non-oily, I needed more oil control in my foundation. It did however glide on nice and blended very well…again just need more oil control.
My skin: NW25/sensitive/hyper-oily/acne prone w/ pink undertones.
Pros:water based, medium to full coverage, buildable Cons:not enough oil control for my liking
After getting a good sample of this, I find that I really like it..I don't think it gives me any more coverage that my PX foundation..it's just a diffeent kind of coverage..more refined...It does make the skin look flawless and even healthy looking...but, it takes more blending that PX to get that look and a good polishing brush really helps. It lasts all day on me..and doesn't break me out..The color selection is a bit darker than the others..so I really recommend getting matched...I will be purchasing this..just to give a different look when I want it..
Well, I'm definitely of two minds about this product.
I like the formula. It has great coverage but doesn't feel heavy or break me out. I'm not a fan of liquid foundation, but I do believe it looks more natural than powder.
Unfortunately, the color range on this isn't as comprehensive as the Studio Fix powder. I'm a half shade and have to mix two colors together to achieve a good color match. And honestly... that's a lot of hassel.
I will have to decide how much I like the formula and coverage and if I'll be will to custom match every day. I think a big indicator will be how well this formula lasts through our mega humid east coast summer.
