Review on: Foundations - Powder Alima satin matte foundation
I really wanted to like this product. I had really high hopes. I did like the feel and texture. It's very soft but the coverage is very sheer, I couldn't seem to build it and it didn't seem to last long. I may try this company again since it was one of my first ventures into MMU and I didn't have my application down yet. I really liked their bronzer and blushes. Nice quality.
Pros: lots of colors to choose from
Cons: sheer coverage
Review on: Primers Larenim Dusk 'til Dawn Treatment
Not really a primer but I like to use it as one occassionally. It's labeled as a night treatment for reducing inflammation. If you use a morning moisterizer that leaves you a little shiny, putting this on before your mineral foundation will help it grab onto your skin. I love to use this when my skin is just not happy but I can't use it too often because it dries my skin out. Great to dab on problem areas to dry out pimples. I just feel a little better that I have it on hand. This is my favorite Larenim product.
Review on: Finishing Powder LaurEss Fantastic Finish
At first I didn't like this finishing powder. It seemed to not absorb oil/shine, seemed blothcy than non-existant and it just wasn't right. I later discovered (after some advice form you wonderful members) that I wasn't using the right brush and the application was my problem. After I switched to a more fluffy brush, it was able to work it's magic. You only need a little bit of this stuff to cover your whole face and set your make up. It's finish is so soft. Not powdery, flat, or cakey. It comes in the same size jar as the foundation, it's going to last a loooong time and very well worth the money.
This foundation is lovely. It goes on silky and feels so smooth on your skin. Especially great for if you like a luminous finish. This one is better if applied lightly on me or I get a little more shiney than I'd like in the T-zone after a few hours. I like a more matte finish (I prefer Minimalist) so I will touch this up once in the afternoon to blot some shine but the color doesn't slip or fade.
Review on: Foundations - Powder Blusche Matte formula (powder)
I bought cheap samples of this brand back in January. The matte formula is good although if you have dry skin like I do, I would recommend mixing it with the satin formula. I plan on trying just the matte formula now that it is summer, my skin is less dry and its more humid out. This product doesn't irritate my skin or cause break outs. I would recommend trying this brand.
Review on: Foundations - Powder Blusche Satin foundation (powder)
I bought (cheap) samples from this brand in January of this year. The satin formula gives you a glow with a light to medium finish. It doesn't irritate my skin or cause break outs. I would highly recommend trying it.
Review on: Foundations - Powder Pur Minerals compact foundation
Convenient light but buildable compact mineral foundation. Covers well and the compact allows this to travel well in purse.
Pros: Comes in convenient compact case. Light coverage but is buildable due to it's slight sheerness. Lasts nicely through the day and is portable
Cons: none
Review on: Foundations - Powder Lumiere Cosmetics Luminess
I love Lumiere products but this is the one product from this excellent company that sorely disappointed. It left my complexion looking gray and shiny. No amount of buffing altered this look
Review on: Foundations - Powder UGloGirl foundation
Beautifully milled foundation that leaves a natural finish with a very very slight glow. Stays fresh looking all day. Blends easily and stays that way.
Pros: Beautiful finish. Easily applied. Lasts all day.
Cons: Limited color selection.
Review on: Foundations - Powder Everyday Minerals Original Glo
Everyday Minerals was unbelievably cheap, but the products made me break out terribly.
I used the products for a four weeks (o-glo foundation, mint concealer, and silk dust), and ended up with a rash that took 2 months to heal. I had to enlist the help of a dermatologist and strong prescriptions to get rid of the rash. After it healed, I tried using just the o-glo formula, but the rash returned.
I know that most people have great results with EDM, but there are a group of people who do break out when using their products. Based on my interactions with people on the EDM forum over the last 3 months, o-glo seems to be the best formula for sensitive skin types - it just didn't work for me.
Pros: cheap
lots of foundation colors to find perfect match
Cons: not good for ultra-sensitive skin types
poor management
Review on: Foundations - Powder Bare Escentuals Bare Minerals
Like many of the other posters here I had itching after using Bare Escentuals. I didn't have issues with it not looking right-- it covered just fine, blended well, and I was pleased because I HATE heavy foundation-- but not long after applying it it felt like I had poison ivy.
Fortunately it didn't look that way, but there's no reason to suffer to look good! Was disappointed because I am trying to green up my makeup collection. I won't use it again.
Pros: Looked fine, blended well
Cons: Made me as itchy as a flea with a rash in a wool sweater
Review on: Foundations - Powder Bare Escentuals Bare Minerals
This foundation leaves a very obvious shine to the face, enhances big or small fine lines and wrinkles on the face instead of hiding them, and it itches on the face after long wear.
I don't know whose face could actually benefit from this stuff as it has simply isn't a great base makeup product at all. And, even though it claims to be made from all natural minerals from the earth and considered good for sensitive skin. There are unfortunately alot of womens skins that cannot handle bismuth oxychloride touching coming in contact with their skin.
Pros: It claims to be all natural
Cons: It has bismuth oxychloride in it which is a known skin sensitizer; it has no oil-control properties to it at all; it is very shiny; and it creases on the face.
Review on: Foundations - Powder LaurEss Minimalist Foundation
I have tried about 15 or so mineral makeup samples. I couldn't find the right match, my skin would break out, my skin would itch, it was too hard to apply, too cakey, etc.
I finally found a great MMU for me. Lauress is fabulous! It doesn't break my skin out like some minerals did. In fact, my skin looks so much better since using this. It doesn't make my skin itchy or red. It doesn't look cakey or too made up. I use so little and it covers everything (acne in chin area). It is so light and makes me feel like I'm not wearing a thing. There is not a great "learning curve" in applying this product. I sweep it on with a flat top brush (sometimes I use a kabuki but prefer the flat top) and brush it around on my face. I start with the outer parts of my face and do the pore area last.
I use the radiant gold in minimalist. For reference, I am a NC20 in MAC, Y/O Cream in Px. If you are still searching for a MMU and are getting frustrated, try this. Lauren is so helpful and emails responses quickly. My order was processed very fast and my samples came in jars (I hate the baggies, they are too messy).
Pros: feels light on, not cakey, covers everything, doesn't break me out, great colors
Cons: n/a
Review on: Foundations - Powder Arbonne About Face
I have been using several of the products found at http://rheality.myarbonne.com for several months now and have never had my skin look and feel so healthy! The products are all natural! No animal byproducts are used. The products are dermatologist and vegan tested and approved. There are also products for babies that are approved by a Pediatrician. The foundation and/or powder comes in a variety of colors for different skin tones. They have a great variety of products and there is something for everyone! There is even a Teen line! I love this site and they always have monthly specials.
Pros: all natural, vegan and Doctor approved. Says what it says it will do.
Cons: takes a week or so for items to arrive
Review on: Foundations - Powder Bare Escentuals Bare Minerals
I love this product soooo much!!! I try not to use anything on my face besides this products, it's a little pricey, but not out of my budget ( well, most of the time )
The started kit is pretty awesome, it comes with 3 brushes, that are pretty decent.
Pros: Porcelain looking skin
Cons: It made me itch the first times.
