Ipsy Glam Bag: January 2014 (Spoilers/Discussion!) - Page 2

Hoping for another amazing bag!  I have Decembers in my purse right now.  It's been my favorite so far.  I would also love a body scrub.  More tools would be nice too.

I'll be happy if I manage to avoid anything taupe or beige. And no hairspray. :)

I agree with all that.

I don't have any specific brands  I want, but some general products I'd like: a body scrub, an eye primer and a blush.

I'll be happy if I don't get another red lip product.

Although I'm taupe queen, I agree. I have enough taupe shadows to last me a lifetime. And I'm just not a huge fan of getting hair products in general since I am a crazy coupon lady and get most of my hair products for free/less than a dollar. No taupe, no red lipstick, no Big Sexy Hair, or Be a Bombshell and I should be pretty happy, haha

Yes please no more Be a Bombshell! I'm pretty sure I never need to actually buy anything from them, because it seems like every sub sends them!

My only wish list is no red. I really want a blush that again....isn't red.

I'm lucky enough where I've only received them in my Ipsy bag, as I don't get the other subscriptions that also featured them, but I know they've been putting their products into every sub lately. They need to cool off awhile, I think!

Agree on the no red and the blush. I overlooked blush for a long time in my collection but now I'm obsessed and I just want ALL THE BLUSHES every time I see one haha

I also liked last January's bag since it wasn't super makeup heavy.  I got the nude polish and a concealer brush.  I thought it was kind of a refreshing start to the new year.  I'd enjoy a similar bag this year.

I'd also be happy to without another Be A Bombshell product for a while.  A lotion or body butter would be nice, my skin is so dry!

I agree. I enjoyed the bag because it was less makeup-heavy. I have a small drawer for "Ipsy Makeup" because 80 percent of the makeup I receive either doesn't work for me at all, or is something I probably wouldn't use a whole bunch. I noticed that every month I get Ipsy, I only end up using on average 1 product from each bag. So this year I'm going to be super critical of what I'm using/not using, and being brave enough to cancel if I'm not using what I'm receiving. I love Ipsy and think it's a great value, but if I'm not getting stuff I can use then I really shouldn't be subscribed! haha. January's bag last year was awesome. Simple and well-put together. I'm hoping they kick off the year with a bang!

I would love to get a brush for once.  There have been a couple of brushes offered in the past and I never got them.  Since I got the dreaded lashes, I do hope (after my negative review) that I don't see those things for a long time!!

I would also love a scrub of some sort.  I have exfoliating as one of my "loves" and it would be nice to get something like that.  I don't need anymore body lotion.  I am drowning in lotion and foot creams!! lol  I think I can go for a whole year without any new lotions.

I would love to get a NON vit C serum.   John Master's line would be great to showcase at ipsy - they have a wonderful scrub and the bearberry serum is fantastic!

I still want a makeup item or two - lol.  but NO MORE REDS.  NO nailpolishes either.  I would love a really pretty powder blush -maybe even a loose mineral one (I know, lots of folks hate the loose mineral stuff, but I love it!).  Something in a nice pinky/mauve color with perhaps a touch (just a touch) of shimmer.  Not a lot.

The brushes that were "My Glam" brushes in the pink case that they sent out over the course of a few months were terrible. You weren't missing out on those, at least in my opinion. Although the Soho brush I got last January was a crease brush and I really liked it!

I know there are a lot of nail polish fans out there, but I agree. Enough with the polish, Ipsy! I received a polish 5 month in a row so far!! And received a polish 8/12 months of 2013. That is complete overkill if you ask me, especially for someone who only casually paints their nails.

I definitely wouldn't like an entire back void of makeup, but I would probably be ok with one 50/50. I am not into skin care or hair care products (though at my age I should be more concerned with skincare lol), but would be ok with getting some as long as I was still getting some makeup with it.

It seems like an eternity before January bags will ship haha. Knowing all the holiday stuff coming up, i'm not sure if it will make time go faster or not.

Plus, I wonder if because of New Year, and it falling on a weekday, shipping will be pushed back a few days.

I was sooo against anything other than makeup in my sub boxes for a long time, but then 2 years passed and I began wondering where all this makeup came from that I will never use, and why I was buying skincare instead of using samples! LOL :) I just think Ipsy in particular is a bit too makeup-heavy. It would be nice to get something even slightly different, like a lip scrub!

I am hoping they don't push back shipping as most people already are getting their bags mid-late in the month. I think what they might do is just have the sneak peeks pushed back by a day or two. But maybe not. We'll have to wait and see! I think it'll be here sooner than we realize. The holidays will keep most of us wrapped up and before you know it sneak peeks are going to start! haha :)

I hope we get some contour or highlight product.

Do you think if we all repeat "no mascara" like a mantra it will work? Here's hoping!

YES! I have no good highlighters. Why haven't they included any?

I'd love a body scrub as well! I just got my hands on a sample of Josie Maran's argan oil from Sephora and I am incredibly jealous that last January's bag had a sample. I know a lot of people don't like oils but I would love a sample of face oil or an oil cleanser :)

I'd also be down for something that's not-quite-makeup, like clear brow gel...It's a bit monotonous to get lipsticks, mascara/eyelashes and eyeliners every month.

I'd love to get more brow gel! I got some of the Anastasia brow gel a few months ago and I adore it! I really just want to get something different, and unique, but that's useable and wearable.

Hmm, I'm considering cancelling Ipsy to try Glossybox with their LivingSocial deal... Decisions, decisions...

I totally agree about more tools! That would be awesome!!

 Wish list:

January - Start the Year with a Pampering

1) More Michael Todd OR Vasanti (I actually fell in love with Vasanti face scrub I got in a Pick 2 from BB)

2) Body Scrub OR Lip Scrub (scrub me Ipsy)

3) A really good moisturizer. My hands are dying! OR a good nail hardener/strengthener - hand washing a bunch kills my nails/hands (Yay medical field)

4) Lavender oil OR Body wash - something to help you get a good night's rest (think B&BW line that has Lavender & Chamomile/Vanilla.

5) Lip balm that actually works

6) Wouldn't mind more brushes from Coastal scents - the one they sent me has become my go to brush.

Bag:  A pretty silver and a royal blue

Same here, I love the Coastal Scents brush I got!

OMG I love Lush! I've seen a lot of people on MUT and on the ipsy site mentioning Lush products and I know that they do read those post (like when everyone said they wanted em cosmetics and then two months later we all got something from em...) so I'm hoping that if enough of us ask for Lush they will try to do something about it for us!

I moisturize every day and all that jazz but skincare is something thats so ehhh to me so I don't shop around for it so I'd love ipsy to introduce me to more. I got the H2o a few bags back and LOVED it! So maybe like a mask or something. I always get the hair products that are of NO use to me (Beach Spray with a pixie, NO) so I'm hoping for a hair product I could actually use.

Perhaps we can compromise with Ipsy and make this a year of

  • mascara/eyeliner not black
  • lipgloss/lipstick not orange or red
  • Or items that make sense when distributed (use our profiles or pick 1 type of item then give out multiple colors/brands such as nail polishes, brushes or skin care)

I still want a quilted bag with a snap closure (royal blue with silver stitching would be perfect). A girl can dream.

I would love to see a navy bag with silver snowflakes on it. Something "winter" themed.
Skin care is cool with me, and please no red lippies, zombie-pale lippies or mascara smile.gif I'm open to anything else.

Me too! I actually ordered a whole bunch of them after getting that one. I loved the feel of it.

Ooh, more Michael Todd, yes!

I would DIE for a Lush sub!
