when purchasing makeup whats more important to you, the content or the packaging?

Re: content or packaging

The content.

Re: Content or Packaging?

The content. If the packaging looks cute or is convenient that's just an added bonus for me. It's not like anyone will really see the packaging besides me anyway, but everyone I see will see what the contents looks like on, so that means more to me.

Re: Content or Packaging?

The content, though I do like nicely packaged products.
The only thing I gripe about with package is whether or not it's travel friendly. If I have to whip out a brush to reapply lipstick or carry around a huge jar- yeah, probably not going to be my first choice.
But your finished face is what people are going to see, not the products used to apply it.

Re: Content or Packaging?

The content is more important, of course. Although, I am definitely a sucker for nice packaging. But, if the product inside the nice packaging is crap I won't buy it again.

Re: Content or Packaging?

i think anyone is going to say content. but sometimes ill pass up a good recommendation on a product because it's ugly.

Re: Content or Packaging?

Content! If it works good, that's all that matters to me!

lol.. i read a study some time ago and it basically said women shop for cosmetics product based on packaging which is why companies spend so much on theirs. maybe the trends are changing?

Re: Content or Packaging?

the content for sure. but, if the packaging is really dumb looking and not my style, then i won't buy it. lol.

Re: Content or Packaging?

Content, BUT if I'm shopping on a whim packaging and appearance will ALWAYS draw me in, so princesstoni I think there is still some truth in that study because companies put alot into product marketing and it works!

Re: Content or Packaging?

content all the way.
the bottle can look super cute, but if the product sucks, its just a waste of money.

Re: Content or Packaging?

both. everyone appreciates a good packaging that catches your eye among all other products. and of course content, because if i had a bad experience with a product, i'll tend to stay away from the brand.

Re: Content or Packaging?

i'll admit that i've bought products because the case it comes in was pretty! for the stuff that i NEED (like foundation) my decision is not based on packaging, but things like eyeshadows/ palettes i do like the case to be pretty

Re: Content or Packaging?

Re: Content or Packaging?

Most definately content. Cute packaging is only a plus. I HAVE bought things before b/c of the packaging though.

Re: Content or Packaging?

I'd perfer quality, cause after you take it out of the box, package, etc, your just left with the product. Although i have been tricked with cute packaging before. *shakes fist*

Re: Content or Packaging?

Content. For everything (and I mean everthing in life, even people). It is about what is on the inside that counts. No matter how pretty the wrapper, if what is inside is crap you have crap.

COSIGN!! Its the quality of the product that counts the most. Sometimes packaging catches my eye also. I've always loved Urban Decay's packaging.

Re: Content or Packaging?

good packaging definitely lures me in, but it's really about the contents in the end...

Re: Content or Packaging?

The content, of course. As for the packaging, It's a big plus. It depends on what the content looks like. Even if the packing looks lovely but the content dosen't look good, I won't buy it.

Re: Content or Packaging?

Omg I am such a sucker for nice packaging..

If the content of 2 brands are really good, but one is $10-15 less & isnt packaged as cutely (is that a word?) I will totally get the more expensive one just cuz of the packaging..
I always have to repeat in my head while shopping that the quality of the product is what matters most! Hahaha..

How important is packaging to you?

well? how important is it?

for me, I usually but based on reviews, advertising, and inspecting the product myself. But, if I saw a new range, I'd be more tempted to try it if the packaging was cute.

Take for example, stila, bloom or paul and joe - they all have gorgeous packaging!

how about you? are you swayed by cute containers? I am - especially if the item that will get seen by people, like lipsticks or powders that I'd put in my bag,

Re: How important is packaging to you?

Hi,

If the packaging is attractive, I am more likely to go over and sample the product.
