Although there’s no better feeling than fresh, clean hair, sometimes we’re so busy that it’s just easier to skip the shower in the morning. Life happens. But if you hate walking around with greasy, unwashed hair all day, consider trying out dry shampoo instead. Of course, it’ll never be the same as an actual shower, but dry shampoo can be a great alternative.
But just what is dry shampoo, and how does it work? Is it right for you? Learn the answers to these questions and more, and then let us know in the comments if you use dry shampoo and if so, what is your go-to product?
Dry shampoo is just what it sounds like; usually in the form of aerosol spray or powder, dry shampoo soaks up oils and dirt in the hair in an attempt to restore volume and freshness. The product is perfect for day old hair, or can even be used on clean hair to add more volume and texture.
Most dry shampoos work same way: to use, flip your hair upside down and spray. If you’re using a loose powder, then gently shake near the roots. (This is where most of your oils will be.) Let the product sit for a few minutes to absorb everything, and then gently brush the dry shampoo out. After that, simply style as you normally would.
There are lots of benefits to using dry shampoo, like its ability to trick your friends into thinking you’ve actually washed, but there are some downsides, as well. If you don’t get all of the product out, the dry shampoo can leave a white sheen to your hair, aging you instantly. Additionally, sometimes dry shampoo makes your hair feel more weighted down than before, or may not last as long throughout the day as you’d like. The key to finding the perfect dry shampoo is to experiment.
Luckily, there are so many different types of dry shampoo on the market, so experimentation won’t be difficult. If you want a spray can, try Batiste Dry Shampoo in Tropical. This spray has been one of the more popular products on the market, and the fun tropical smell will distract people around you from any dull, lifeless hair. If you want to try a powder, Oscar Blandi Pronto Dry Shampoo is a good one to try. The brand is top notch in hair care products, and this dry shampoo definitely delivers.
