Beauty Treatments You Can Find in Your Pantry

Who doesn’t love treating their face, body, or hair with fancy regimens? Contrary to popular belief, you don’t have to spend a lot of money on expensive beauty treatments. In fact, you may not even need to run to the store, based on how stocked you keep your kitchen cabinets. There are a variety of everyday food items you can use to get the perfect look – you just have to know where to look!



ImageIf you want shiny hair…

Over twenty-one? You most likely have a great, little-known hair treatment right your fridge: beer! Beer is a great way to fix dull, damaged hair because the proteins in the drink repair hair cuticles for a perfect shine. If you’re a minor (or simply choose to abstain), you can make a egg shampoo to get more bouncy, shiny hair. There are various recipes on the internet, but my personal favorite is to mix 1 large egg, 1 teaspoon of lemon juice, 1 teaspoon of olive oil, and a 1/2 cup of cold water. Let it sit in your hair for  a few minutes and rinse.

Unless your one of the few lucky individuals who never gets a pimple, you’ve probably been bothered by an acne flare-up. The good news? You don’t need to slather lots of chemically acne treatments to rid yourself of zits. There are lots of great tips all over this site for at home treatments. Toothpaste is a common spot treatment, but foods in your fridge can also help. Cut grapes in half and rub over the face for a natural facial cleanser, or make a cucumber face mask to cool and smooth the skin.

It’s a major problem for anyone who is addicted to nail polish – repeated manicures can leave your nail beds dull and dead. Routinely treat your nails at home to avoid any long term problems. If your nails are prone to staining, soak your fingers in lemon juice to help brighten and whiten. (And start applying a good base coat so you avoid the problem all together!) Increase your iron intake – whether through iron pills or more meat in your diet – to keep nails strong
