Better Quality Drugstore Dupes for High End Products

Ever find something that you really want, but the price point is as pleasant as a spinal tap? Researching ingredients and how brands are related can yield some super surprising results. A little background knowledge can keep your wallet heavy and your train case full.

If you’ve ever strolled through the department store and made a pit stop at the Lancome counter, you may have seen their Color Design Infinite 24 hour shadows. They come in glass jars in a wide array of beautiful metallic shades. The texture is smooth, like a pressed pigment, and they apply like they’re already wet. They’re absolutely dreamy. THEY’RE ALMOST TWENTY FIVE DOLLARS!
What you may not know is that Lancome is owned by
L’Oreal.Yes, that’s right. L’Oreal, whose drugstore products you love, also manufactures Lancome products. You know what that means? A lot of drugstore overlap. Including the L’Oreal Infallible Eyeshadows.
The packaging is very similar to Lancome’s version of the product, and believe it or not, L’Oreal’s shade range is better. The pigmentation is not just equivalent, as in most cases, Infallible provides deeper and richer color. The best part is that you can get THREE L’Oreal Infallible shadows for the price of ONE Lancome Color Design Infinite shadow. You can’t beat that!
ImageYou’ve definitely heard of the Urban Decay 24/7 Glide On Eye Pencils by now. You could probably name five shades off the top of your head, even if you don’t own any. They’re the most ranted and raved about eyeliner pencil in the online beauty community, regarded as the best there ever was. Have you ever tried the NYX Slide on Eye Pencil? It doesn’t come in as many shades as the often lusted after Urban Decay Pencil, but there’s still a wide enough range to give you plenty of options. They’re equally as pigmented, but that’s not the shocker. The big news is that the NYX pencils last longer on the waterline – for less than half the price.
I tested these rigorously and can say with total confidence that NYX’s Slide On Pencil in Jet Black is equally as black as Urban Decay’s 24/7 Liner in Perversion, and that the NYX Pencil will last at least three more hours than the Urban Decay pencil without needing a touch-up.
The only downside about the NYX Pencil is that it’s more difficult to remove. I don’t know about you, but I’d rather use a pencil that’s harder to remove than one that’s harder to keep on!
