Every once in a while, we wake up with minimum energy levels and we feel like not doing anything but sit in bed and watch movies. While this is an acceptable Sunday activity to rest up for the week and sleep off those extra margaritas we drank the night before, it has become frowned upon to do this on say a Thursday, but this shouldn’t always be the case. It is perfectly acceptable to need a day to relax and take intermittent naps while binge watching Netflix every so often during the week. We all work hard and put forth our best efforts to have a productive week, but hey, we can’t all do it all the time, and instead of feeling down on low energy levels, it’s time we let ourselves give in. Now, I am absolutely not saying this should happen every week, but once every few months or so we are allowed to give ourselves an out from reality. In fact, as I sit here writing this article, I have had a day of watching Sex and the City in bed.

It has been a struggle for me to accept laziness as a good thing sometimes, and instead of giving in, I have been infamous for giving myself a hard time for it, until now. As of very recently, I have decided I am going to give myself a day for myself if I feel I need it not only because it is relaxing, but because it keeps me from getting burnt out and going crazy. I have found it hard to always be a go-getter, and as a person who prefers to take care of my mental well being rather than overwork and over-do life, I have decided it is time for us to take our lazy days back. The one thing I require on a day where I call in sick to work is at least a 30-minute walk to get my body moving. After all, it is a day to give myself what I have been missing which is rest and time for ME. So, instead of getting down on your hard-working go-getter self for needing a day off that isn’t a weekend, just go for it, and treat yourself to a day of candles burning and TV watching.

6 Tips for Relieving Pain and Soreness After Your Workout

How to get the perfect beach waves!

Beach waves, or what I like to call Mermaid hair, is a classic summer trend that will always look flawless. It’s an effortless look that looks casual yet classy all at the same time. Who doesn’t want that?! If you want to achieve the perfect summer hairdo but don’t know exactly how to, keep reading!   Hair Prep To get the ideal mermaid hair, use moose to prep your hair. When you step out of the shower, brush your hair so it’s tangle free. Then grab your favorite moose (the choice is yours, however, I encourage you to purchase one that mentions “curls” or “volume”).  Using the moose, scrunch the product throughout the hair. Once your hair dries, your hair will be prepped with your natural wave and/or curl.   Bring The Beach To You! If you have naturally straight hair and the moose is not enough to prep, bring the beach to you with sea salt spray! Sea salt spray adds texture to your hair to fake that tousled “just came back from the beach” look. Spray your sea salt spray on to your dry hair and work it through the hair. Tip: If you have naturally dry, or curlier hair, I would encourage you to SKIP this step. I have naturally dry/wavy hair and I find that sea salt spray dries out my hair more and makes it a bit too frizzy.   Different Curls Photo by Jeffrey Roberts via Instagram   Using a straightener or curling iron, curl your hair in different directions to make it look more natural. For one strand of hair, curl toward you. Then, for the next strand, curl away from you. It’s also important to shake out the strand after curling it, you never want the waves to look too tight. That would give the illusions of curls.

  Skip The Heat To get mermaid hair without heat, try sleeping with your hair in two buns or braids. For the bun method, split your hair into two top ponytails. Then twist one of the ponytails into a bun, and hold in place with a hair tie and bobby pins. Repeat with the other ponytail. When you wake up, undo the buns, and brush your hair gently. You should be left with wavy, beach hair. For the braid option, sleep with your hair in two french braids, when you awake your hair will be crimpy and wavy. Both are totally easy and non-damaging ways to achieve mermaid hair this summer.

Waxing VS Threading... Which is better?!

If you’re like me and want to find alternatives to shaving but can’t afford laser hair removal, you’re stuck between two options: waxing or threading.   Which is the better option?   Waxing Waxing, I believe, is the most convenient way to remove body hair. Waxing removes your hair from the root, meaning you’re hair won’t grow back for three to five weeks (depending on your hair type). Waxing also prevents ingrown hairs, which is great if you’re prone to getting those hurtful things. Like all hair removal, waxing does cause some pain. It also could cause some irritation or rash due to the heat of the wax. So, before waxing your whole body, test it out first on a smaller part of your skin. When it comes to making your next appointment for waxing, your body hair has to be grown out by two to three inches, at least. Or else, the hair won’t remove properly. This means you will be a bit hairy between sessions.   Threading When it comes to the face, threading is my personal go-to for hair removal. Our face is more sensitive our legs, arms, or other body parts, which means we have to be more gentle. Our faces require the natural oils that waxing so harshly removes. Threading is also more precise compared to waxing. When removing eyebrow hairs, you want to be as careful as possible to avoid pulling too much hair, sometimes waxing can lead to thinner eyebrows than expected. Personally, when waxing my face, I would always break out because of the heat of the wax. With threading, however, my skin is free from redness, irritation, or breakouts. Threading is also more sanitary, we never truly know how clean our wax is and how long it’s been sitting out.   So, which is better? If you are removing your facial hairs, threading is the way to go! But if you're removing hair from your legs, arms, or stomach, waxing is the faster, more practical way to do it.   Which method do you prefer?
