Every once in a while, we wake up with minimum energy levels and we feel like not doing anything but sit in bed and watch movies. While this is an acceptable Sunday activity to rest up for the week and sleep off those extra margaritas we drank the night before, it has become frowned upon to do this on say a Thursday, but this shouldn’t always be the case. It is perfectly acceptable to need a day to relax and take intermittent naps while binge watching Netflix every so often during the week. We all work hard and put forth our best efforts to have a productive week, but hey, we can’t all do it all the time, and instead of feeling down on low energy levels, it’s time we let ourselves give in. Now, I am absolutely not saying this should happen every week, but once every few months or so we are allowed to give ourselves an out from reality. In fact, as I sit here writing this article, I have had a day of watching Sex and the City in bed.

It has been a struggle for me to accept laziness as a good thing sometimes, and instead of giving in, I have been infamous for giving myself a hard time for it, until now. As of very recently, I have decided I am going to give myself a day for myself if I feel I need it not only because it is relaxing, but because it keeps me from getting burnt out and going crazy. I have found it hard to always be a go-getter, and as a person who prefers to take care of my mental well being rather than overwork and over-do life, I have decided it is time for us to take our lazy days back. The one thing I require on a day where I call in sick to work is at least a 30-minute walk to get my body moving. After all, it is a day to give myself what I have been missing which is rest and time for ME. So, instead of getting down on your hard-working go-getter self for needing a day off that isn’t a weekend, just go for it, and treat yourself to a day of candles burning and TV watching.
