  1. My September rules: -The only drugstore item I can purchase is my Covergirl Outlast foundation, because I'm out of it, and the only foundation I have that I like more is too hard to find/expensive to obtain here (because it's only sold in Europe) so I want to ration it out. I have to find it on sale/with a coupon, though. No other drugstore purchases! -I can purchase one more expensive item. I've realized I'm getting to a point where I'm a lot happier to have 1 nicer item than 4 drugstore items in most cases. I'm thinking about this being the Naked Basics 2 palette, or maybe a setting powder since I'm still on the hunt for the perfect one....Whatever I decide, I will probably purchase it in store to avoid the trap of buying more stuff to get free shipping. And that's it. The end, no more. If I desperately need something else, I can use Birchbox points or the $25 Amazon gift card I got recently. (I can also renew 2 BB subscriptions for October when a good code comes along.)

    Birchbox September 2014 - Spoilers!

Y'all, things have been crazy and I totally spaced on the sample selection That's the whole reason I was getting three boxes this month, and I forgot all about it! Oh well. I hope I end up with good boxes anyway. Kinda sad though.

I work at a university, and summer was SO nice, there were some classes going on but not too many. Now the semester has started, and finding parking is terrible, and people keep coming in and wanting me to solve all their problems even when I tell them that their issue has nothing to do with my department, and it's just really annoying. As are people who come in with problems they should have solved weeks or months ago but apparently it didn't occur to them to figure this out until they showed up. So all of you annoyed with your classmates, I get it.
  4. WHOA that's intense. I wish we knew what it was so I could try it! (Somewhat OT, I have kind of a funny mascara story. My mom always complains to me that her mascaras are not impressive and her lashes never look as good as mine, even when I give her mascaras that I like. Recently I learned she only ever does one coat of mascara....that might be why!)
  5. Was it for sure the last reveal? If so, I'd say it was definitely worth the wait and a good one to go out on I definitely want to say thank you again to those of you who were planning to replace this package. I am honestly so touched that all of you were willing to pitch in and get me something if this gift was lost. I am so grateful to be part of such a wonderful community. A lot of the internet is full of people using anonymity to be awful to one another, and this really is a special little corner of the world wide web where people are so sweet and caring and kind and wonderful. And of course, thank you again to @@Bizgirlva for being such a wonderful swap buddy!
  6. I know, I'm pretty shocked myself, I never expected it to turn up after so much time! After the first week, I pretty much gave up on it, but I'm glad the makeup gods were still looking out for me
  7. Okay, I need to start by saying @@Bizgirlva was the best swap buddy I could have asked for and she really went above and beyond! Everything she got me was something I would have chosen for myself, and I can tell she did some seriously good stalking It is amazing and she was SO generous I couldn't even believe it. It was worth all the stress of trying to find it and thinking it wasn't coming! My package waited in post office purgatory of some kind for three weeks, but it finally made its way to me, and here is the awesomeness! (Sorry some of the pictures are sideways, I think someone posted how to fix that at some point but I couldn't figure it out.) To sum it up, I am so so grateful for everything, and this was an amazing gift that I never thought I'd even get to see. But there was some sort of post office miracle, and today is an amazing day! I definitely want to thank @@Bizgirlva for being so amazing and generous, but I also want to thank all of you for being so sweet when my package was missing. I was so disappointed and sad and stressed out trying to track it down, and you were all so wonderful. And I know some of you were working behind the scenes to put something else together for me so I do want to say I really appreciate anyone who was a part of that effort. MUT is full of such amazing people and I'm so grateful to be a part of this community.
  8. OMG you guys I had the best swap buddy EVER. Seriously overwhelmed by all the awesomeness and generosity. It was worth the wait and all the stress! OK, I"m going to go try to figure out how to upload all these pictures now.
  9. I also posted this in the discussion thread, but I don't know if everyone is still checking that so I am going to share the most exciting news ever here as well! After 3 weeks in post office purgatory, my package has mysteriously arrived!!!! SO EXCITED!! Off to open now, pics in a few!!!!

YOU GUYS YOU GUYS! GUESS WHAT! IT IS A POST OFFICE MIRACLE!!!!!!! @@Bizgirlva ! I just got home after being out of town for a few days, and guess what was waiting for me???? MY SUMMERSWAP PACKAGE!!!! I don't know where it's been for the past few weeks but it's here now!! Actually apparently they left a notice for it on Thursday like it was no big deal, and my friend who was picking up my mail for me went to get it since he was going there anyway (and he didn't tell me while I was gone because he didn't realize it was important apparently). BUT NOW IT IS HERE!!! I am going to open it now and will be back with pictures shortly! SO MUCH EXCITEMENT!!!!

Well, no, I'm not saying that, but they may be trying to cobble together a living wage from a variety of sources -- maybe they're crocheting, working part time at a store that won't give them more hours, babysitting neighborhood kids, and selling used books on eBay. And every part of that income might be important.

No worries, I just posted it today - wasn't online much towards the end of the week as I had family in town. Do let me know if you hear anything. I guess I don't really have high hopes, though, but it's so sad as I've never even had a really negative experience with USPS before. But this is just awful. Of all the things that could've been lost/stolen, this is the worst.

Donna, I think the stuff that you make is amazing and I'm glad that you're going to be able to make some money from it! I do want to say, though, that you're lucky you have time for a hobby, and that it's one that could make you a little extra cash, but for some people what they make is actually an important part of their income. Maybe they're unemployed, maybe they are a stay at home parent struggling to make ends meet, whatever the reasoning, but they're charging for their time because they *are* working. After all, they say if you love what you do, you never really work a day in your life! But that doesn't mean you don't still need money
  14. Crossposted from the discussion thread in case anyone has stopped reading that one but cares to know: I spoke to the post office several times before someone even talked to my mail carrier, finally on Thursday they told me he didn't remember anything about the package. So I guess probably it was stolen. I just hate this, I hate that I didn't get to see what @Bizgirlva picked out for me, I hate that all her effort was stolen by some creeper, I hate talking on the phone so I hated the whole trying to track it down process, and I'm just really sad about how this turned out
