    EcoTools

I received a set of them and didn't like them. The powder products wouldn't stick to the hairs at all. I think they're the worst I've ever used. I did have high hopes!
  2. Hi everyone! I haven't been to MUT in a very long time, but I've returned to ask help picking out my wedding lipstick! I've set up a voting page with 5 different lip looks. My dress is traditional white, and our wedding theme colors are green, coral, and rose gold metallic. My hair will be an apricot color. Here is the poll: http://kristadior.kristardesign.com/2015/02/22/vote-for-my-wedding-look-take-the-poll-lips/ I'll keep the poll up for another two weeks and then move on to 'eye' look with the lip that was chosen by the people! Thank you! -Krista
  3. I honestly cannot recommend Bare Minerals to anyone. I had many clients (with a BE store being next door to my shop) who complained of cystic acne and skin irritations. We looked at mica allergies as being a big issue for some. Mica can cause tiny micro tears in the skin or become lodged in pores. Most makeup uses mica, but I am looking into brands with rice and clay instead.
  4. Yes, there is a YouTube video review here: This girl is completely insane in love with the Flower line. She goes into deeper detail about the cream shadows, calling them better than MAC paint pots. I am agreeing with her so far.

Le Angelique Straightening Iron vs. CHI

It's been many years since I started this thread...I am strictly using only the ghd because I did BREAK my original Angelique and the replacement doesn't even work as good. What the heck? I'm going to invest in a clipless curling iron next.

How do you deal with facial hair?

Yes, Tink is right. I have PCOS also, and the Emjoy epilator works the best for me.

    Break out after waxing

I don't break out when I use cold wax. It seems that the sticky wax with honey makes my whole face red and break out in little bumps. I prefer cheap cold wax from the drugstore, as bad as that sounds, I haven't had problems at all.
  8. Hello everyone, I was invited by Lucky Magazine to attend the FABB event in LA on April 5th and 6th. I'll be also making a fashionable entrance into the VIP Drew Barrymore party on the first night of the event. We're going to hopefully talk to Drew about her new Flower Beauty line and take lots of photos! Proctor and Gamble will be at the event, hopefully giving us free samples. Anyone else going to the event? I'd love to meet more artists and bloggers. I'll post event photos and details in this post upon my return.

    Flower Beauty

That isn't true at all. I purchased quite a few products and saw clear as day METHYLPARABEN written in the ingredients list of several products.
  11. The new cosmetics line that launched in February is simply named "Flower" and is only available at select Wal-Mart stores and Walmart.com. Flower can be found as a full display at Wal-Mart, and at my own local store, it was found right next to the CoverGirl display. The first impression was the packaging. Very clean, elegant and superb quality packaging. Made in America and no animal testing...something a lot of cosmetics lines cannot boast about. I will forewarn to those who are not fans of parabens: you will be disappointed. There are parabens found in several products that I'll list below. Drew seems like a sensible gal, I think if a few of us submit our concerns about parabens, she might help to change the formula (I've seen this happen with other cosmetic companies). I wouldn't mind paying a few bucks extra if better quality ingredients were used instead of parabens. The price point is just about the same price point as L'Oreal cosmetics from the drugstores. The highest priced item in the line is the anti-aging foundation with primer, which runs only $14 for quite a large bottle with a pump. We'll get into the specifics of the foundation later in the post. Items purchased from Wal-Mart in Mountain View, CA: About Face Foundation - LF3 ($15) Secret Service Cover-Up - CU2 ($8) Win Some, Rouge Some Creme Blush - CB1 Pure Petunia ($8) Flower Ready Set Glow! Blush/Bronzer Duo - Gloriously Golden ($10) Color Play Creme Shadow - Good as Mari-Gold and Orchid-ing Around ($8 each) Flower Lash Knockout Volumizing Mascara - Intense Black ($7) Flower On Your Mark Liquid Eye Liner - Black ($7) Flower Kiss Stick High-Shine Lip Color - Tulips 2 Kiss You ($7) Flower Nail'd It Nail Lacquer - Fanatical Botanical ($5) Flower Shadow Play Eye Shadow Quad - Foxy Browns ($10) Swatches of color: Color Play Creme Shadow - Good as Mari-Gold and Orchid-ing Around Pros: The packaging alone makes me want more of these creme shadows. I usually end up hating creme shadows due to creasing, but this product delivers highly-pigmented, smooth, shimmering color that doesn't budge. I do use E.L.F Cosmetics E/S Primer first, which helps it hold a bit better. Good as Mari-Gold is a perfect everyday "dab" on the lid and go color. Orchid-ing Around makes smokey eyes a snap and blends very well along with powder shadow, especially the Flower Quad powder shadows. Cons: Contains parabens. Studies indicate that methylparaben applied on the skin may react with UVB, leading to increased skin aging and DNA damage. (From Wikipedia) Flower Kiss Stick High-Shine Lip Color - Tulips 2 Kiss You Pros: The color is creamy, vibrant, long-lasting and top-notch quality. This opaque color gives you that "Barbie" lip look without being too garish. You can use this color applied with a fingertip to create a stain. I applied a peach shimmery gloss over the top (not pictured) and it looked absolutely stunning. I have worn this color every day this week and haven't become bored of it yet! Cons: Might be too bright for some! Flower Shadow Play Eye Shadow Quad - Foxy Browns Pros: I am a total sucker for quads, but I usually end up only using just two colors from the compact. With this quad, I've used them all, and frequently. Each neutral shade is superior in quality; a very fine and blendable texture, it looks airbrushed and flawless. Reminds me of the texture of the YSL quads that I've dreamed about owning for years. The darker brown and taupe are both matte and the copper and beige shade are both shimmer. Cons: Contains parabens. Flower On Your Mark Liquid Eye Liner - Black Pros: Soft black, not harsh. Easy to apply and was long-lasting. Cons: For some, this liquid liner won't look dramatic enough. The finish is a matte, soft black. More reviews: About Face Foundation : Pros: A gel-like texture in a high-quality bottle with pump. Feels similar to the Chantecaille $72 foundation. The coverage is light to light-medium with a satin finish. It's undetectable in natural light. Cons: With my oily skin, this foundation, although quality, didn't stay on too well. I do use a mineral setting powder by Jane Iredale on top. The coverage was too sheer for what I am used to (Revlon ColorStay liquid). Secret Service Cover-Up - CU2: Pros: Nice texture, almost like a thicker version of the liquid foundation. The shade was in a pinker tone, and I like that for a brightening effect. Doesn't cover acne as well as I hoped, this is more of a sheer concealer. Works well under the eyes. Cons: Contains parabens. Not pigmented enough to cover acne. Win Some, Rouge Some Creme Blush - CB1 Pure Petunia: Pros: The color is just adorable. Gives you that "dolly" look with a coral-pink pop of color. I use a foundation brush to apply this blush and it works very well. No shimmer! Cons: On my oily skin, it didn't last through the entire day. That's to be expected with most creme blushes on my skin. I may try this on the lips to see what it looks like with a gloss on top. Flower Ready Set Glow! Blush/Bronzer Duo - Gloriously Golden:Pros: Having blush and bronzer in one compact is very convenient. The no-shimmer bronzer and blush are easy to coordinate and look soft. I haven't used much of this, so I'll update this review as I go. Cons: Today I tried it out again, and I am not sure about the bronzer. I like to contour and highlight my face and this was a little too "natural" for me. Flower Lash Knockout Volumizing Mascara - Intense Black: Pros: The packaging caught me off-guard. It doesn't really match the other Flower product packaging, but that shouldn't be a concern. I LOVE this mascara. Very creamy, not at all clumpy, I was able to apply two coats with no issues. Doesn't leave my lashes stiff. Cons: I am not a fan of the brush. I use another brush with this formula. Flower Nail'd It Nail Lacquer - Fanatical Botanical Pros: This color is exactly the same color my mom used to wear when I was a kid in the 80s. She told me it was expensive ($4) and made with crushed diamonds. I don't remember what brand it was, but she wouldn't let me use it! I saw the color and I had to have it. It's very natural and feminine and since I hate my chubby fingers, this adds just a little happiness to my fingertips. These polishes are getting rave reviews online, too. Cons: These colors are similar to Essie, which can be purchased at Target. I'm hoping the line expands with more nail color choices.
  12. New Year's Eve Party Look: Pink Champagne at Midnight Foundation: I applied two coats of foundation: Beauty Society Liquid Foundation in “Dazzling†(let that dry) and the NYX HD Foundation. I let my face dry a little and then applied the Jane Iredale Amazing Base Loose Powder all over to set. After that, I applied a light coat of NYX Chrome Loose Eyeshadow in Sand all over for a glow. Eyes: I used a thin coat of Kryolan Aqua Color in White, which is used with a synthetic fiber brush and a little water. This makes a great base, especially when you plan on wearing bright colors. My inspiration for this look is New Year’s Eve at midnight & Pink Champagne. I used the MAC Pro Matte Pink Pigment in the crease and then a lighter matte pink shade above that color from the Coastal Scents 88 Palette. Above that shade, right below the brow, I applied the NYX Sand Pigment. I lined the inner rim of my eyes with the Stila for Barbie Cobalt blue gel eyeliner. Below that line, I applied a midnight blue shade of eyeshadow from the Sephora Studio Blockbuster Kit. On the upper lid, I made a thick line with the NYX Black Liquid Eyeliner (which is very black!) waited for that to dry, then applied a flick of white using the Kryolan White Aquacolor, the same product I used as a base. When the black liquid eyeliner dried, I applied some Ardell eyelash glue on the back of my hand. I dipped an angled eyebrow brush into the glue and then dipped my brush into a pot of iredescent pink glitter.I carefully tapped the brush over the black eyeliner, and successfully did not remove any! I just wanted to give it a sheer sparkle. The kinda fun part began when I started applying the eye crystals. I used Crystazzi rhinestones from Michael’s craft store and a pair of slanted tweezers to apply. I used the Ardell lash glue first on the eyes where I wanted the crystals, then placed them with the tweezers. I lost a few crystals in the process, but found them later! The lashes were the last to go on.. and they are HUGE. These are the NYX Kittie Lashes ! My fiance had an idea of painting the tips, so I actually applied lash glue to the tips of the lashes and dipped them in a matte neon pink glitter from Medusa Cosmetics. Applied another rhinestone at the corners of my eyes for one last added effect. Lips: I used an NYX 835 Pinky Slim Lip Liner and a matte neon pink lipstick from the older Sephora Collection. 2012: I had my fiance draw the 2012 on my face for me, since it is very difficult to do it yourself in the mirror backwards! I used the same Pinky NYX pencil to trace the lines he made. I then applied the Ardell lash glue to the areas where I wanted to place a rhinestone and carefully applied with the tweezers. That is IT! I didn’t use blush or bronzer. Necklace by Betsey Johnson and red ruffle dress by Roaman’s.
  13. I had always feared this day would come. I saw a handbag on iOffer.com, knowing it was a replica even though the seller insisted it was real, and I basically didn't care since it was a handbag I had wanted for many years (rare Louis Vuitton Purple Irvine). The pictures of the bag were great, amazing replica, I thought, and the seller explained to me that the bag was used and that is why the price was low on it. The seller and I exchanged conversations almost on a daily basis after I had made my offer. It was my first time making a high offer on a product online, so I was worried. I saw that the other handbags they were selling had offers that were accepted at half the price of mine and I asked the seller if I could receive a discount. They said it was no problem and asked me to pick another bag from their store. Surprised about this, I picked another bag and asked if it was okay to be doing this and they assured me that it was okay. The seller had good feedback, not much, but enough to make me think it was okay to continue on with the process. So the seller (in China) gave me a shipping confirmation and I was able to track it. The package arrived yesterday and when I opened it, there was a really, really terrible brown Louis Vuitton replica bag in there. I was pretty upset as you could imagine and went to contact the seller. The seller deleted their account off of iOffer.com and their feedback for the past day were all negatives, stating the seller sent the wrong bag. I thought my purchase was safe through PayPal, but when I called them, they said since I didn't purchase through ebay, that my purchase was not covered. I found out on November 1st, that PayPal will start covering purchases made on iOffer.com...I was only a few days away from getting my money back!! I contacted my bank and since I used my checking account, they could do nothing. I contacted several other internet scam sites and made reports. I will not be able to get my money back, it seems. If anyone knows how I can get my money back for this scam, please let me know. I now know to use PayPal WITH my credit card next time, because apparently the credit card companies can help you retrieve your money (surprising). If anyone can offer insight into this, it would be gladly appreciated. Thanks!
  14. Do you guys happen to know if Drugstore.com / Beauty.com are going to have a friends and family 40% off coupon this year? I received one every year at work around this time of year and I haven't heard anything yet.
