I love learning, writing and talking about enhancing natural beauty....both inner and outer. I am most intrigued by finding answers to beauty questions that all women would be interested in hearing the answer too. Like "can I wear red lipstick?" or "what bathing suit works best with my body type?" Some beauty questions I find most interesting are the ones women are most afraid to ask (like uggg....."how can I get rid of this bunion?").

  1. I tend to like loose curls in my hair. A trick I learned from my stylist is to blow dry my hair as I normally do. Then in using larger velcro rollers, grab sections of hair, spray a bit of hair spray and roll sections of hair. Use the blow dryer again after all hair has been rolled into curlers to "heat up" hair. Let rollers set/cool for about 10 minutes. Carefully unroll hair, style gently with your fingers and give one last hit of hair spray when you are happy with the look.
  2. Any drugstore should have a hot oil deep conditioning treatments that you can do at home. Also straight from the home kitchen try, 1 Tablespoon of full fat mayonnise spread on hair and scalp and left for 30 minutes. Then rinse thoroughly. However, since it sounds like your scalp had an "insta-dry" reaction, is it possible you had an allergic reaction to the new shampoo? Do you see any redness/bumps? Just a thought. If you do, you may want to try the over an counter allergy medication, Claritin to see if it helps.
  3. I completely agree that primers are not a waste of money. I don't think you need to get the most expensive one and with many primers you will see that a little goes a long way. Eye shadow primers I think are a must for just about anyone who is wears eye makeup (however, perhaps I need to try the moisturizer trick that was suggested). They just make good sense. The primer will keep eyeshadow where you put it rather than all over your eye area by the end of the day. Also a primer will help stop that end of the day creased look where your eye has natural folds. As for all over face primer, I think it is great for helping your morning makeup application last longer into the day (especially on oilier skin types). Also if you have any find lines or wrinkles, it will stop makeup from slipping into those imperfections and making them more noticeable. However, it may not be right for everyone.
  4. What a great forum with TONS of information. So glad I joined today! I look forward to learning more about beauty and hopefully offer some answers when I can.
  5. Hi, I am new here, but thought I would give my two scents. My mom who is 59 uses the Bare Escentuals line (original formula, not matte). She uses a heavier moisturizer with SPF 30 and a good primer under her makeup to make it stay put and also stops the mineral makeup from settling into her fine lines and wrinkles.
