She seemed to really like her experience with mybeautymatches.com but I just wanted to know if anyone has tried them or a similar site before I commit to signing up and filling out the questionnaire.

  10. Kerry Washington, Jennifer Aniston and Cate Blanchette wore the nude makeup look at the Oscars last night. Here is the breakdown of the products used: Kerry Washington was wearing Marc Jacobs’ Beauty Genius Oil Free Foundation in Cocoa Light ($48) and Neutrogena Healthy Custom Glow Blush & Bronzer in Raisin Glow ($12) on the cheeks. On the lips, Neutrogena MoistureSmooth Color Stick in Healthy Peach ($9). Jennifer Aniston wore Chanel products. The foundation was Chanel Perfection Lumière Velvet Smooth-Effect Makeup in 50 Beige ($47) and on the cheeks were Chanel Le Blush Crème de Chanel in Destiny ($38), and Chanel Powder Blush in Angélique ($45). The Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow Sheer Colour in No. 50 ($58) was used as a bronzer. Cate Blanchette's skin was prepped with SK-II Facial Treatment Mask ($135) (she is the face of SK II), the foundation used was Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation #4 ($62) and Giorgio Armani Cheek Fabric #306 ($46) on the cheeks. Nicole Kidman’s skin was prepped with La Mer Treatment Lotion ($130) and Eye Concentrate ($190). 11. Margot Robbie looked stunning at the Oscars. Here is a step by step makeup how-to by Vogue and her makeup artist Tyron Macchausen. SKIN Prep your skin with Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer to create a base for the makeup and even out your skin tone. Apply Hourglass Veil Fluid Makeup (Macchausen used a mixture of Honey & Beige on Robbie) all lightly all over your face. Use Hourglass Hidden Corrective Concealer just wherever you need it. Apply Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Luminous Light as a highlight on your cheekbones. Take a Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Radiant Light, a slightly darker shade of higlighter and place below to contour the cheeks and create three-dimensional effect. EYES Keep your eyelids bare and apply Hourglass 1.5 mm Mechanical Gel Eyeliner just to the inside of your lower lash line to add dimension. You don't want to have a visible line, so you should pull your eyelid out and wiggle the liner in-between the lashes. Apply several coats of Hourglass Film Noir Mascara to your top lashes, let them dry, and apply a few more. Use Hourglass Arch Brow Sculpting Pencil to add dimension to your brows. LIPS Line your lips with Hourglass Panoramic Long Wear Lip Pencil in Raven. Apply Hourglass Opaque Rouge Liquid Lipstick in Raven for a pop of matte orange-red.
  12. Hi, I'm Alexandra and I was hoping to get some advice from people who might know a little more about these things than I do. This is a question about under eye concealers vs under eye brighteners. I'll start off by describing my skin type: I have fair to medium, dry skin with gold undertones. I am not prone to breakouts and I have been blessed with clear skin, so I don't wear foundation. I do, however, have under eye circles that the "shadows" extend to pretty much around the entire socket. Since I don't wear foundation, I was looking for advice as to which type (or if you have an actual product recommendation, I'm all ears) of product I would be able to use if I wanted to hide my dark circles without wearing foundation or a full face of makeup, since most concealers look really strange if you wear them alone without a full face of makeup. You know how it just makes the upper half of your face look really weird, since your under eye area is naturally always a slightly different shade than the rest of your face and a concealer just kind of paints over that and make your eyes look one color and weird? What kind of product would you recommend that can be worn by itself to help conceal under eye circles that won't look too obvious without a full face of makeup? Something preferably hydrating with benefits and that won't cake or sink into fine lines, since I do get dry under my eyes and concealer tends to settle in. Any ideas or suggestions? I had heard that there was a difference between concealers and brighteners, but I really am not makeup savvy enough to know what that is. Any and all input is greatly appreciated!
  13. Anyone tried the new brightening bricks by Bobbi Brown? The shades look interesting. Here are the shades: Pastel Pink, Pink, Coral and Cranberry I wonder how these compare to the shimmer bricks. I never tried the shimmer bricks but wanted to. These new bricks look like shimmer bricks but with a different pattern.
  14. Are you looking to get any makeup related Valentine's day gifts? Or do you buy your own gift(s) for Valentine's Day?
  15. Anyone tried this kit yet? Looks interesting. Anything with cocoa sounds good to me.
  16. When the short skirts and bright colors of the 60s hit the scene, the glamorous makeup of the previous decade just didn’t cut it anymore. For the youth around town, their makeup needed to be as fun, free-spirited and expressive as their Carnaby Street ensemble. Chucking the red lipstick and feminine rouge of their mums and aunties out the window, they made way on the dressing table for a bold and youthful look that would really catch eyes. What are the views of others on it?
  17. Madonna's makeup artist of 12 years, Gina Brook, used Chantecaille products to create her look inspired by her new album Rebel Heart. Here are the products that were used on her: Start with Chantecaille Future Skin Foundation. "It's an oil-free, light-reflective formula, which works well on stage and lasts through the performance." Contour below the cheekbones with Cheek Crème in Shy, then brush Playful on the apples. Using the Glacier Eye Shade Trio, sweep the light, frosty white shadow across the lids as a base and illuminator, then dust the diamond powder on top and contour in the crease and outer corners with the trio's two darker shades. Draw 24H Waterproof Liner along the upper lash line and wing it out for a strong cat-eye before applying mascara. Finish with Lip Definer in Discreet and Hydra Chic Lipstick in Arctic Rose for matte pink lips. Source: Chantecaille and Harper's Bazaar
  18. I don't usually make changes to my daily makeup look or the way I apply makeup based on Runway looks but they are interesting to follow to see what the top makeup artists come up with and what their vision is at the time. Here are a few looks from the Spring 2015 Runways. Elie Saab Runway models featured a natural look with emphasis on eyes. Makeup artist Tom Pecheux lined eyes in black (top and bottom) and used grey shadow on the lids. The lips were pale peach color. Valentino Runway featured a romantic look by makeup artist Pat McGrath with emphasis on "pure" without mascara. Giorgio Armani runway look drew inspiration from bamboo and Japanese art. Makeup artist Linda Cantello used baby blue eye shadow on the lids paired with a gold liner. For Dior, makeup artist Peter Philips went for the fresh look using Diorskin Nude Air products. 19. Here is a handy visual guide for contouring and concealing from NYX with one of their newest palettes. This is a good reference point for contouring and concealing in general not with just their product.

  21. Hey everyone! Have any of you found items that are trending for fall that you own already? A lot of us are gonna get pulled into the whirlwind of buying the new fall makeup lines and I just wanted to list a few fall makeup trends that I've heard about so far so that you guys could see if you already own some similar items already and won't have to purchase. I know that I tend to buy items every season that are only a shade or two different than what I already have. I found a lot of trends coming out for fall that I already had on my vanity!!!!! *Purple Shimmer Eyeshadow and eyeliner *Coral/ Orange blush *Nude Lips *Metallic Nail Polish *Naturally glowing Skin (BB Creams and light coverage foundation) Here are a few of the things I found will be trends that I already own. If you have any others please share them.
  22. Does anyone have any recommendations of bronzers that suit fair skin tones (most preferably from the drugstore) and or a contouring palette?
  23. Hi, I'm a guy and basically have no idea about this stuff haha. Basically my face is very pale naturally and slightly yellowish. There must be some kind of make up that can help make my face look a more usual colour, I'm not looking for a bright tan or anything just something discrete to put on my face to help. Surely someone can help me out here, I'd be grateful for any ideas
  24. First of all, misery loves company (plus, I'd like to know that I'm not a freak), so I'm hoping someone out here in MUT land has either had this problem (and found a solution) or knows someone who did. I'm 45 and I've noticed over the years ... for lack of a better term ... my upper lip area's skin has gotten ... coarser. Think of a man's upper lip ~ not so much the hair, but the texture. I do have hyperpigmentation ~ but that's more easily covered up than the actual texture. I've tried B's PoreFessional, Smashbox's line of primers, Tarte's Clean Slate, and TF's Primed and Poreless ~ none of them really seem to do the job. I've come to the conclusion that it's either hormonal (thank you to my "early menopause" genes) or dry, dry skin. I actually broke down and used a *pumice stone (yes, you read that right ~ but it's never been used, so there's that, at least) on that area and it seemed to help with the texture some. *For the last two weeks, I've been having to wash off and reapply my makeup at least 4 times each day ~ none of the millions of products I've got seemed to do a damned thing, so I'd wash my face and start over. The pumice stone was, I think, a desperate cry for help. I will admit that I do have terribly dry skin (yet, still combination skin). I look fine (but with a pale face and a fake tan everywhere else) without makeup, except for a few hyperpigmented spots ~ but as soon as I put on foundation, my skin gets so dry it's like a cracked eggshell. There's nothing like having the Sahara desert on your face to really accentuate fine lines! o_O I am taking steps to fix the problem, though. I did a 50% glycolic acid peel the other day, and I'm going to do another one in a few days (I'm an old pro with GA at this point). I might even end up doing another 12% TCA, too ~ though, obviously, not at the same time or even within weeks of each other! So ... am I alone with this? Does it sound like dry skin or do I need to talk to my doctor about hormone therapy (or whatever old women like me are supposed to do!)? My deepest thanks in advance for any commisseration or advice! <3
