  1. Are you looking to get any makeup related Valentine's day gifts? Or do you buy your own gift(s) for Valentine's Day?
  2. When the short skirts and bright colors of the 60s hit the scene, the glamorous makeup of the previous decade just didn’t cut it anymore. For the youth around town, their makeup needed to be as fun, free-spirited and expressive as their Carnaby Street ensemble. Chucking the red lipstick and feminine rouge of their mums and aunties out the window, they made way on the dressing table for a bold and youthful look that would really catch eyes. What are the views of others on it?
  3. Hello I am looking for a range of MAC studio fix products I really want the Studio Fix Powder Foundation , Liquid and Sculpt I would like the color ranges from NC15-47 Please message or reply if you have these items for sale
  4. Madonna's makeup artist of 12 years, Gina Brook, used Chantecaille products to create her look inspired by her new album Rebel Heart. Here are the products that were used on her: Start with Chantecaille Future Skin Foundation. "It's an oil-free, light-reflective formula, which works well on stage and lasts through the performance." Contour below the cheekbones with Cheek Crème in Shy, then brush Playful on the apples. Using the Glacier Eye Shade Trio, sweep the light, frosty white shadow across the lids as a base and illuminator, then dust the diamond powder on top and contour in the crease and outer corners with the trio's two darker shades. Draw 24H Waterproof Liner along the upper lash line and wing it out for a strong cat-eye before applying mascara. Finish with Lip Definer in Discreet and Hydra Chic Lipstick in Arctic Rose for matte pink lips. Source: Chantecaille and Harper's Bazaar
  5. I don't usually make changes to my daily makeup look or the way I apply makeup based on Runway looks but they are interesting to follow to see what the top makeup artists come up with and what their vision is at the time. Here are a few looks from the Spring 2015 Runways. Elie Saab Runway models featured a natural look with emphasis on eyes. Makeup artist Tom Pecheux lined eyes in black (top and bottom) and used grey shadow on the lids. The lips were pale peach color. Valentino Runway featured a romantic look by makeup artist Pat McGrath with emphasis on "pure" without mascara. Giorgio Armani runway look drew inspiration from bamboo and Japanese art. Makeup artist Linda Cantello used baby blue eye shadow on the lids paired with a gold liner. For Dior, makeup artist Peter Philips went for the fresh look using Diorskin Nude Air products. 6. Does anyone have experience shopping at Bluemercury? According to WWD, Bluemercury was acquired by Macys and they have plans to bring competition to Sephora by opening more stand alone Bluemercury stores as well as integrating Bluemercury products and stores inside Macys. I've never shopped at Bluemercury before so I wonder how it compares to Sephora and if they truly will be a competition to Sephora. Looks like a lot the brands sold at Bluemercury are similar to Sephora with the exception of Bluemercury having maybe more higher end brands (La Mer, Revive etc) than Sephora.
  7. Hey MakeupTalk peeps! I have a question for you- what do you consider to be your beauty base zero? What products do you feel you need to have applied in order to be presentable (and especially before you apply any more intricate makeup)? I think the phrase 'beauty base zero' has become somewhat of a fixture in the makeup circles, though it started out in The Hunger Games series. For me, my beauty base zero is basically what I feel I need to look presentable, and am typically not confident at all and kind of flighty and repressive of my self when I'm out and about without my beauty base zero. For me, this requires: 1. Combed hair 2. Cleaned, moisturized skin, as well as brushed teeth. 3. Skintone evened out by a redness reducing foundation (BareMinerals BareSkin) 4. Blemishes concealed (NARS Radiant Creamy concealer) 5. Brows defined (Anastasia Dipbrow Pommade) 6. Lashes/eyes defined by either some mascara or eyeliner- doesn't have to be both. Then I usually feel presentable enough to actually face other people without hiding behind my hair. Of course other things definitely help, like color cosmetics, but if I'm going to only have a small amuont of time to look presentable, I have to do those 6 things first. How about you?
  8. I am just curious to know is it only me who buys lipstick and nail colours every now and then or everyone who loves to wear makeup buys makeup item whenever get chance! So how often do you gals buy makeup? and what is your favourite makeup item to buy that never bores you!
  9. I want to buy some foundation from MAC, but I have a neutral skin tone. I know MAC has the foundations with pink undertones (NW) and yellow undertones (NC) but what do you do if you are in the middle? I'm very pale also. Should I lean towards NW or NC?
  10. Hey everyone! Have any of you found items that are trending for fall that you own already? A lot of us are gonna get pulled into the whirlwind of buying the new fall makeup lines and I just wanted to list a few fall makeup trends that I've heard about so far so that you guys could see if you already own some similar items already and won't have to purchase. I know that I tend to buy items every season that are only a shade or two different than what I already have. I found a lot of trends coming out for fall that I already had on my vanity!!!!! *Purple Shimmer Eyeshadow and eyeliner *Coral/ Orange blush *Nude Lips *Metallic Nail Polish *Naturally glowing Skin (BB Creams and light coverage foundation) Here are a few of the things I found will be trends that I already own. If you have any others please share them.
  11. Does anyone have any recommendations of bronzers that suit fair skin tones (most preferably from the drugstore) and or a contouring palette?
  12. I have really uneven facial skin tone due to being mildly burned by a whitening cream that a salon attendant slathered on my skin whilst having a facial. Now there's like a really strong demarcation line separating my real skin color from the skin affected by the mild chemical burn from the whitening cream. Is there any way apart from CC creams, foundations or concealers to even my skin color out?
  13. Many medium coverage foundations are suitable to build up to full coverage. Setting spray in between applications can avoid a cakey effect. Has anyone here had experience with setting spray? The Elf setting spray I got said to spray after all makeup is applied. Has anyone used setting spray in the way they described above(putting a layer of foundation then spraying setting spray and then build up more foundation)? If so...should the statement from the above site be only used with cream foundations or does it also work for other types of foundations? Also what would be the best way to build it after using the spray? foundation brush? stippling brush? dry makeup sponge? damp makeup sponge?
  14. Hello! I'm a new person and such, but I figured that I needed to get some advice on some things from all you expert types. Bassically, I have been wanting to be a makup artist since I was about 12. I've always loved makup and have had a great deal of fun over the past 3 years trying on and learning about makup and desperately want to start doing others make up. I am still inexperienced doing others makup, but have decided to do makeup as a "for tips" thing at my local fashion mall so that I can really get used to working with different skin types. (Nearly every one of my friends and my sister have the same skin type.) Even if I loose money doing it I desperately want the experience and want to make people look pretty.. What I was wanting some help with is this.. I am looking for a decent line of cheap makeup for this adventure of mine. In particular, I'm looking for decent foundations, powders, mascara's and concealers. Sadly, I've spoiled myself by getting a great deal of my stuff from sephora these days and would rather not spend a fortune on practice makeup. (But what point is there in doing someone's makeup if it looks bad? >///<; ) Oh, also, if anyone has any advice or articles that they think I should read, I would love it if you posted them. I am still super new to this and love advice.
  15. I recently ordered the "Taupe" blush by NYX through Ebay, as it was my only way to get it. Now I'm a bit worried whether it's real or fake. What made me question it, is that the NYX blushes I've seen online has "NYX ♥ Blush" on the lid. Mine has "NYX ♥ Powder Blush Fard à Joues" on the lid. Sorry for the bad quality, they were the best shots I could get. What do you think, is it fake? And if it is I shouldn't be using it, right?
  16. Hi Everyone! I'm writing this in effort to be informative. I recently was on the look out for the original version of Too Faced's Natural Eye Palette. They recently changed their self-proclaimed best-selling palette by adding 3 new eyeshadows. I really liked the old version so I surfed the net. To my surprise, I discovered numerous Chinese companies selling "replica" better known as counterfeit makeup. The top counterfeited makeup lines are Too Faced, BareMinerals, Urban Decay, Smashbox, Chanel, Mac, Philosophy, GlamGlo, etc. They are selling BareMineral's Foundation for as little as $2.86 per jar. The scary part is that you can't even tell the difference between the authentic & the counterfeit. I guess the whole moral to this story is that if the pricing is too good to be true, then it probably is... Thanks for your time & attention... :-)
  17. Hi, I'm a guy and basically have no idea about this stuff haha. Basically my face is very pale naturally and slightly yellowish. There must be some kind of make up that can help make my face look a more usual colour, I'm not looking for a bright tan or anything just something discrete to put on my face to help. Surely someone can help me out here, I'd be grateful for any ideas
  18. I need help on finding a good foundation for dry skin. I use mac face and body but it is to greasy on my skin.
  19. I'm about to start high school! My face reacts very highly to stress which causes me to get tiny little breakouts all over my T-zone mostly and around my hairline. My T-zone gets very oily and the rest of my face is either dry or just normal (mostly dry, ugh.) I only use drugstore makeup because that's all i can afford, lol. Can any of you suggest any good makeup for my type of skin? I'm basically clueless I also have semi dark under eyes that vary depending on how much sleep I get and whatnot. I try to cover them up but I can never find a good concealer that does the job quite right. I don't like the feeling of having a whole lot of makeup on my face which is why I try to use as little as I have to. If any of y'all could help it would be greatly appreciated.
  20. Hello all you lovely people! I hope you are well and that your June is coming to a good close. If you know where the month of June went, please let me know… It’s flown by so quickly! Anyways, I’m with you here for a haul today (I was feeling spendy once again and was properly channeling my inner Amelia Liana). I am realizing that this haul consists of a lot of pink and rose-tinted items… This was not intentional! Prepare yourselves my fellow beauty lovers. Enjoy! Maybelline’s Color Whisper ($7.49) & Revlon’s Color Burst Lip Butter ($8.49) – These drugstore lippies were all EssieButton’s fault (if you don’t know her, you should <- click here). I went into the drugstore looking to purchase one of Revlon’s Lip Butter’s that Estee consistently raves about (back right), when Maybelline’s Color Whisper products began to call my name – luring me into their clutches. Not too many people talk about Maybelline’s Color Whisper products and it boggles me! I have the shades Pink Possibilities (front and center) and Pin Up Peach (back left). Pin Up Peach is a repurchase for me because I may have possibly left it in the back of my boyfriend’s car… In England… 5000 miles away… I am a hero. Anyways! I really love the color and the formula of the Color Whisper’s, so much so that I not only repurchased my Pin Up Peach, I also invested in another color. Then, as was my original mission, I picked up Juicy Papaya from Revlon’s Lip Butter collection (back right). Yes To Grapefruit Facial Scrub ($9.99) – Thanks to Elysha Lenkin I’ve recently realized that I do not have an exfoliant included in my skin care routine AND that this silly overlooking may be the root of my late skin care problems! Ya know, for someone who blogs about all things beauty all the time you would think I wouldn’t forget how important exfoliation is – and yet, here we are (hero, remember?). Anyways, I watched an empties video a while back by MakeupByTiffanyD in which she RAVED about this product. In light of my recent epiphany, I’m going to give it a go!Nourish Organic’s Ultra-Hydrating Face Cream ($22.99) – I recently posted about my need for a new moisturizer and you guys were so helpful and wonderful in giving me amazing recommendations! I thank you guys so much for that – I love, love, LOVE reading your comments and appreciate you guys so dearly. I did go with DFuentes’s recommendation, from the blog D’s Positive Project, and purchased Nourish Organic’s Ultra-Hydrating Face Cream. I’m super excited to try this out and I will let you lovelies know how it goes!Pure Life Soap Co.’s Rosemary Conditioner ($9.73) – I always see this in my local health foods store and have always been tempted to buy it. So after finishing up my not-so-overwhelming Shea Moisture’s Raw Shea Butter Restorative Conditioner, I jumped the gun and took this baby home with me. Super excited to see how this works out!Too Faced’s Primed & Poreless Pressed Powder ($30) - I needed to replace my old setting powder badly and here we are with this purchase – influenced by heyclaire (and not because we have the same name – that’s a lie, it’s totally because we have the same name). I like it so far, but will be coming to you with a much more in depth review soon.Heritage Products Rosewater ($6.52) - This is a repurchase. I like this as a more natural, better-for-you, and better-smelling version of Caudalie’s Beauty Elixir. I like spritzing this everywhere for no reason at all – it’s just lovely.Sebastian’s Shaper Zero Gravity Hairspray ($16.95) - And lastly, I recently ran out of my Sebastian dynamic hairspray and when running to the store to purchase some more, all they had were this number and some other oddballs. So, I went with this guy and hopefully he turns out to be a keeper! That is it for my recent beauty purchases! What have you bought recently? Have you tried any of these products? I would love to hear your thoughts on them!
  21. Hi guys, I have a question thats been bothering me for a while now and no can seem to help me. I see pictures and tutorials of girls with absolute perfect make up and I can't seem to get the same result no matter what I try. I've tried super expensive makeup and drugstore makeup, i've worked hard on diagnosing my skin type and making sure I buy products that match my skin (I have oily skin) but nothing I do works. The concealer and undereye makeup keeps creasing. I've tried e-v-e-r-y-t-h-i-n-g from BB cream, liquid concealer and presses concealer and I just look much Older than I really am. The creasing that's visible with makeup is not when i'm not wearing any. Because I have oily skin, during the day it just feels like my face is melting and no matter what I try I can't seem to make it work. Girls, HELP!
  22. Everyday Minerals Jojoba Base: I picked this up about a month ago because it sounded so interesting. It’s a mineral foundation infused with jojoba esters to provide the skin with moisture and to stop a powdery finish. The coverage is quite good if you want to build it up, but I mix it with my Silk Naturals Oil Control Tinted primer to set my concealer and finish off my base makeup. I think it’s very appropriate for the summer months because it does leave the skin fairly dewy, and I don’t like looking like I’m wearing powder in the summer (or any time of the year, really). I have the shade Sand, and it’s maybe a tad too dark for me, so be sure to read the color descriptions really well on the website if you think about ordering. Also, I love that you can close the sifter. 100% Pure Tinted Moisturizer: I have spoken about this before in my “Shopping My Stash” post and I used it in my FOTD: Olivia Munn look. I love that it has very little coverage and just makes skin look very luminous. I love that 100% Pure Makeup is pigmented with fruit and that the ingredients list basically looks like a list of food. However, I do find that I canNOT skip powdering this or I will look sweaty. But, let’s face it, I always get a bit sweaty looking in the summer months, so I’m just mindful to bring some blotting tissues and powder in my handbag. I have the shade White Peach which, as I have said before, is deceptively dark. I also think this is helps keep my skin looking clear, along with my skin care routine, of course. I find the best way to apply this is with fingers. I tried using a brush once and it made it look streaky and bleh. Clinique Chubby Stick in Chunky Cherry: I love the color of this lip crayon. I also enjoy that I don’t have to bring along any lip balm when I wear this. It’s a fuss-free lip that still looks very put-together for the summer time. It’s that sort-of “I just ate a popsicle” look with a bit of glossiness. Plus, the ingredients in the Clinique chubby sticks are very similar to those in a natural lip balm. Favorite Lip Combo: Ilia Lipgloss in Peek A Boo with Silk Naturals Rapturous. So I was watching VlogwithKendra do one of her Friday Faves videos and she said she liked to put her gloss on before her lipstick. So, I tried it and WOW, it just makes the lipstick look not so obviously drawn on and it dilutes harsh colors. I’ve been liking my holy grail of lip glosses, the Ilia lip gloss in Peek A Boo with Silk Naturals Rapturous over the top for a “my lips but darker” (and definitely glossier) look. The best part, both products are so moisturizing that I don’t need to bring a balm along with me. Tarte Skinny SmolderEyes Pencil in Onyx ($18): This month I’ve pushed aside my Zuxu Luxe liquid liner, for a more soft and smudgy liner look. This pencil is nice. VERY pigmented and VERY black, so I’m mindful not to put on too much. I love smudging this really close to the lash line on days where I want to look like I’ve tried to do my eye makeup, which is more often recently. It says that it’s waterproof but I do not find this to be the truth. It smudges pretty easily on me. Urban Decay Grindhouse Pencil Sharpener ($10): I know this is a really random favorite, but I lost my liner/cosmetics pencil sharpener. I bought this one because the 100% Pure Lip pencils fit into the larger hole. I like that it has two different sized sharpeners and it makes areally nice point on my Tarte eyeliner. Also, it comes apart completely, so it’s easy to clean. That concludes my June favorites. There aren’t too many this month, and no new skin care as I have been traveling and sticking to my basics. I would love to know if you’ve liked any of these products and some of your favorites. Please leave them in the comments below. Don’t forget to like and share. Oh, and Happy July, I hope you have a lovely fourth! Follow us on our blog! http://www.beautyorsomethingcg.wordpress.com Happy Reading, Beautiful!

  24. Hi, I'm not ashamed of admitting the fact i am a straight guy who occasionally uses makeup to help me through those days when i get acne. Recently ive been using the Dermablend Corrective Stick Foundation to hide the bit of redness I have going on. It does work, but unfortunately it sometimes creates this flaky look around a spot despite me applying moisturizer. I discovered that i should use a primer, but i have also discovered the bb cream as well. I tried applying moisturizer primer then dermablend stick then setting powder but i still get the flakiness around spots, ive also tried moisturizer bb cream then dermablend stick and setting powder but still same. I'm not sure how you women do it, ive seen women with huge cystic acne and still manage to cover it up pretty well and all i've got is couple spots that arent even cystic. Is it the brush im using maybe? Im currently using this https://www.garden.co.uk/make-up-skin-care/make-up-brushes/profi-blusher-brush.html Maybe its the way i apply it? The way i apply it is after the moisturizer and everything, i roll bit of dermablend stick on my cheek then put two fingers on the actual brush and rub it in a downwards motion then apply setting powder and after that i get the flaky look. I need one of you makeup pros to guide me By the way the products are: Moisturizer: http://www.olay.co.uk/skin-care-products/olayessentials/Essentials-Double-Action-Day-Cream?pid=5000174070354 Primer: http://www.smashbox.co.uk/product/6038/18505/Face/Primer/COLOR-CORRECTING-PRIMER-ADJUST/index.tmpl BB cream: http://www.smashbox.co.uk/product/12048/21835/Essentials/SMASHBOX-CAMERA-READY-BB-CREAM-SPF-35/New/index.tmpl?cm_mmc=GoogleBase-_-ShoppingFeed-_-Essentials-_-SMASHBOXCAMERAREADYBBCREAMSPF35&77tadunit=b92211fb&77tadvert=26937551732&77tkeyword=&77tentrytype=s&77tentry=shopping_feed_ppc&gclid=CKaE0paF6L4CFSrpwgodXjgAQQ Dermablend stick: https://www.garden.co.uk/dermablend-corrective-stick-4-5g.html? utm_source=Dermablend&utm_medium=Buyonline&utm_campaign=directlinkstick Setting powder: https://www.garden.co.uk/make-up-skin-care/dermablend/dermablend-loose-setting-powder-28g.html?utm_source=Dermablend&utm_medium=Buyonline&utm_campaign=directlinksetting
