Gothic Inspired Makeup
The month of October belongs to grim, the ghastly, the inspiring, and to the artist with enough fortitude and intrepidity to attempt to capture the macabre.  Arm yourself with your favorite dark shadows, liners, and artillery of brushes, as MaekupTalk turns gothic.

To create this gothic-vampy look you will need the following:
  • Black eyeliner pencil
  • Lip & Cheek stain
  • Black thickening mascara
  • Silvery gray shadow
  • Dark purple eye shadow
  • Lavender eye shadow
  • White satin shadow
  • Red Lip Stick
  • Bronzer

The Skin:
  • To create the look above, start out with a cheek stain and blend it upward from the apples of your cheeks.  This flush is concentrated more on the cheekbones than the apples of the cheeks.

Recommended Product:

Sephora’s Lush Flush Lip & Cheek Stain

  • Bronze the perimeter of our face: along the hairline, at the temples, contour under the cheekbones, and the jaw line.

Recommended Product:

Nars Bronzer in Casino

  • Use a white satin shadow (mine had some shimmer to it) to highlight your face and make your skin look pale.  Apply the white above your brows, on the bridge of your nose, under the eyes, and 1/3 of the way up on the forehead.

The white shadow will bring your highlighted features forward while giving you the sexy pale sparkle we see in today’s Holly Wood Vampires. The bronzer will allow you to contour your face to a more angular look.

The Eyes:
  • Apply a matte primer all over the lid to the brow bone.

             Recommended Product:

Urban Decay Primer Potion in Eden

  • Apply a silver shadow to the lid. Stop at the crease.

Recommended Product: Use a packing brush to apply this shadow.

  • With a blending brush, apply a light lavender shadow halfway into your crease, taking it from the inner corner of your eye to the center of your crease.  This will give the darker shadows something to blend into.   Use a smaller brush to apply the same lavender on your lower lash line. Take it from the inner corner of your eye to the mid point of your lower lash line.

            Recommended Product:

            Sephora Blending Brush in #13

  • With a blending brush apply a dark purple shadow from the outer corner of your eye up into the crease. At the midpoint of your crease, softly blend the color into the light lavender shadow from earlier.  Blend softly, back and forth in a windshield motion, followed by soft circular motions to airbrush the edges.  Take the same purple shadow and blend it along the lower lash line, stopping at the center of the lower lash line. This will help you to create the famous smoky eyed V-Shape.

  • With a smaller tipped brush use black shadow and create a smaller V inside your outer purple V.  This will add depth and drama to your eye.  Soften the look with a smudge brush or go back over it with a blending brush.

  • Apply black liner to the top and bottom lash lines.

  • On one eye, use a black pencil liner to create a gothic design. Here are some examples:

Last but not least, the lips!
  • Take your black pencil liner and line your lips.  Contour as desired.
  • Use a lipstick brush to apply your favorite red lipstick.  The lipstick brush is important for this look because it will allow you to blend the lipstick into the black liner and soften the edges.

Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Pur Couture SPF 15

Thanks ladies!  I would love to see some other looks.  Halloween is just around the corner.  Lets play!

Oh I think this is a gorgeous vampy-gothy look! I sometimes wear my everyday makeup this way with the swirls :p /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" /> If I may ask where did you get those designs? I love the one and would be happy to try it out!

Well this was my ZombieWalk 2010 Makeup Job, and I have my other Zombie Friend Chris with me as well!

Photography - http://www.jonathansippel.com/ - for the single shot of me!
This was 2010 and was actually on my birthday! This year its the day before my birthday... hmmm I wonder what kind of Zombie I will be this year?

@ Slinkycat: I did the design free hand. The designs that I posted below are for some added inspiration and example.  You can probably find decals at Halloween stores right now.  Ultraflesh at Sephora has the stencils below.  BTW, I love your Zombie look. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks Ladies! I've seen some stencils ranging from really cheap to really expensive. I've never used a stencil with make-up before. I am not the best artist when it comes to drawing and designing. One woman who I idolize (well pretty much), is Adora Batbrat in Sweden. She is absolutely amazing. You can search for her on youtube and the internet. She has several tutorials and she has a blog etc. I think she's amazing anyway lol!

Well I will have to see if I can copy some of your designs then cause honestly I am not very good with drawing lines with a pencil or a brush... I guess I just need more practice! YAY! LOL :D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

OH my! I did very similar look today! My webs are little different tho, I didn´t add any rhinestones. (I´m referring to the drawings :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" /> )

And I paired it with Lime Crimes black lipstick Styletto :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />
