Hey guys,

What can I do to ease sun burn...I went to the beach today and got burnt really bad. I used sunscreen...but I don't think that worked to well (maybe because I didn't reapply).

I have this cream called Dr. Sheffield's Triple Anitbiotic Ointment....it says for minor cuts, scrapes and burns. I'm not sure if I should use it.

Aloe works really well! So does vinegar to take the pain and sting away!

You don't need antimicrobial agents unless you have broken skin, if you have blistered or have burned a large area seek medical advice ASAP. Be sure to drink plenty of water, no caffeine or alcohol, plenty of anti-inflammatory foods (fruit and veg/ oily fish or marine algae for long chain omega-3s).

As Katana says an organic 99% aloe vera gel is highly effective at cooling and healing sunburn; aloe-shea butter is even better as it also has occlusive properties (forms a protective film). An alternative combination with proven wound healing properties is calendula extract with allantoin. Vinegar is not suitable for a bad burn; the acetic acid will encourage the surface layer to slough when you need this to remain in place to protect the new skin from infection and dehydration. If the burn is swollen and painful take an oral analgesic or use an anaesthetic cream formulated for use on burns or mild corticosteroid - any pharmacist will be able to advise on this.

Aloe vera spray or gel is really good for sunburns - if you use it straight away, chances are you won't peel at all!

Make sure to moisturise as well!

I'll try the aloe vera...I'll buy one tomorrow. I think I got burnt bad...I can't shower with hot water...it burns a lot...and when I dry off...even the towel makes my skin hurt.

Eeeek don't towel off, that is abrasive and could remove the protective top layer! The skin needs to be left alone as much as possible, do not allow any harsh chemicals to touch it (shampoo, conditioner, shower gel) just tepid water and air dry, then apply aloe gel or an occlusive cream. You really should seek medical advice if the burn is that severe.

Use Artistry intensive repair serum .It definately works.Artistry products are best.

I am gonna use the aloe vera...I doubt its that bad that I need to go to a doctor. I just have to take care of it. My face started peeling a bit...so I guess the healing has begun.

Peeling proves you have damaged the skin sufficient to kill several layers and have not kept the burn sufficiently hydrated, it is nor a sign of healing. Medical advice is not necessarily a doctor, a pharmacist or nurse would suffice.

HI,

Its really bad to hear this but i really don't have heard about this products...If i get information on this i will definitely tell u...

So if u think that it will work so go for it..But i suggest that u have to talk to your skin doctor first he/she will recommend u the best!!!

I bought a moisturiser called E45 Cream today. It specified that its for a wide range of issues including sunburn. So I'm gonna give it a shot and see if it helps me. My skin doesn't burn anymore when I use a towel. It just looks scaley and dry. So hopefully this cream would help. I've been reading some good reviews about it online.

If any type of cream does not work, maybe use herbal solutions. I mean try using papayas by rubbing it on your sunburned skin, or whatsoever you can do for it to recover your skin appearance.

They are using some skin creams for it but I like these tips because of home remedies and natural. So that I thought to recommend it to them.

Mix up some zinc oxide with either comfrey oil or calendula oil to make a thick paste, then add as much real lavender essential oil as possible. Apply and leave on overnight. The redness, inflammation & burning sensation will be seriously reduced by morning, if not totally gone. Aloe works, but you'll often still peel. It also tightens the skin as it dries, causing more pain. It also doesn't work as quickly as zinc oxide/comfrey/calendula. Zinc oxide helps regenerate healthy, undamaged tissue, as does comfrey - which is loaded with allantoin. It also takes care of inflammation. Lavender oil is phenomenal on all types of burns, the more the better. It kills pain, prevents infection (natural antimicrobial) and also helps prevent blistering. Calendula is also a spectacular skin healer. This mixture is very effective, but still gentle & safe enough for babies & children. I recently fried my skin during our holiday, even wearing sun block, and this is the only thing that helped, and very quickly. Immediately after the burning/redness was gone, i also started using my retinol serum & AHA/BHA moisturizer to get rid of any damaged skin.

Use lots of Aloe gel!  It's incredibly soothing!!
