I'm the same way!

We are refinancing our house which is a good thing but we are going to pay more for the next 3 months so our payments will be lower (short on escrow). So, I'm going to be broke until June. I think it will be good for me (though it will be hard).

I've decided I'm going to do a project 25 pan. Siiiigh. Hopefully I can get through this! I've decided I'm not going to count sample packets or perfume vials. Those things take no time at all to get through, and I don't want to just breeze through this super fast. Also, the goal is to use up stuff that takes up a lot of space, and sample packets don't really take up that much room.

You can do it! I did a project 10 pan,and realized how quickly I got through it. I hit pan on 3 make up products and finished countless bottles of make up remover/hair stuff/etc in less than 2 months.

Well, to be fair I did pick products that were already close and just worked on them every day. And for some reason teh jouer perfector I had just went...fast. I loved it but I'll never buy it again because I should not be able to use a 40 dollar foundation in a month.

I'm not going to pick out specific products, I'm planning on just kinda using what I use and seeing where it goes. I have a ton of shower stuff that's almost done, though, so that should be a nice start. I've decided to not include sample packets either, because then I know that I would only use those in an attempt to be done sooner, hah.

a 40 dollar foundation disappeared that quickly? Sheesh! That is ridiculous.

Yeah as I was using it I was like wow this stuff is great I love how my skin looks. Then less than 2 weeks later I hit pan and I was sooooo confused. Even with a liquid foundation it takes me longer than that to get anywhere with it.

I'm doing good this month! icon_cheesygrin.gif

I thought that I was going to go nuts with my purchases but I've been cautious with my spending. I've only brought a drugstore mascara, lip balm, a pair of cheap sandals, and a perfume rollerball. I've avoided the ULTA and drugstore sales and I'm proud.

But I may or may not have a Sephora cart ready for when I get my tax refund - if I ever get it (darn H&R Block!).

I meant to cancel my coffee sub on saturday (it said I had until sunday to decide) but when I went to check on it on sat afternoon it had already charged me :( :(. I drink a lot of coffee though so it'll save me money so that I don't go to starbucks as much. I still feel bad though...

I also contemplated buying a perfume that i really wanted from urban, i was eyeing it since it was on sale for $20 and now it's $10...but instead I bought $39 jeans that I need...even though I NEED jeans I feel bad for spending $40 and kind of want to return them.

tonx.org  it's $24/month for 6oz every other week. I had even told myself IF I kept the sub I would change it to $38 for 12oz every other week...since it's a better deal and i drink a lot of coffee. but I got stuck with the worse deal lol

My low/no buy for the past 2.5 months has been a good learning experience. I never really paid attention to how long certain products last but would just buy whenever I saw a sale or something that appealed to me at the moment. Knowing I have enough of many makeup and skincare products to last a very long time I realize I need to be choosy about what I am purchasing and not buy just because it is a good deal or a momentary desire.

I'm also less strict about using up products I buy. I now realize if a product isn't working for me I can re-try it later but if it still isn't working for me it isn't doing me or anyone any good languishing in the back of my cabinet. I need to pass the product along, re-purpose it, or toss it. This has been a little difficult to be consistent with because I work hard for my money and I want to get the full use out of whatever I buy :-)

I've used up/given away/repurposed/tossed over 100 products this past 2.5 months. Many were samples from sub boxes accumulated over the past 1.5 years. I've made a huge dent in my surplus and my shelves are no longer overflowing. I've discovered a few items I love, a few I hate, and re-discovered some I had forgotten about.

I still have plenty of products but getting down to a more manageable amount of stuff makes me happy.

Going forward I am planning to be mindful of my purchases so I don't get overwhelmed again. And, I need to do a purge every few months because everything I buy or receive in a sub box isn't going to be the right product for me so I need be realistic and not expect every product will meet my needs/be usable.

Good luck to everyone with your low/no buys.

Good luck to everyone with your low/no buys.

This is a great attitude and one I am adopting as well. When I toss out a mascara that doesn't work, I remind myself I am not being wasteful, it was wasteful when I bought it, and now it is wasteful to continue taking up space in my tiny overpriced apartment.

I've noticed that the less I buy the less I think about buying!! This low buy is starting to work out for me :) but I do still WANT to buy things when I see sales online...deleting emails helps a lot.

Feeling really good--aside from the $32 I spent at the beginning of the month, I haven't bought any cosmetics, or really anything unnecessary (other than lunch, instead of bringing it to work.)  Stay strong for April, everyone!
