To follow through with me here:
- I am by birth sex, male, however, transgender by mind.
- I have never used hormones...ever.

So, I went back in February (28th) to get my blood tested, (since a therapist I saw told me if I felt transgender, it would be a good start...) and requested a hormone level check.

I went to get the results yesterday, and well, my doctor seemed not to know what to say. Apparently, my estrogen level is really high. My level is currently at 156. This is without the use of hormones or anything. The average male-born body is typically around 25-60 at most. The average for females I guess goes from like 40-400?.... if that is so, I am almost halfway there. My doctor claims my estrogen is on par with "a 16 or 17 year old girl"... and is sending me to see a hormone specialist soon when they get the appointment booked for me.

I have no idea how in God's name I accumulated so much estrogen... but some other interesting facts here.... my index finger is longer than my ring finger. I am the oldest of my siblings, and all three of my younger brothers tower over me. I cry to just about everything, and I do get frequent mood swings.

In a way, it sort of makes me feel as though I AM on estrogen or something. I really am highly curious why the heck I have so much without doing that. Deep down, after reading an article a few months ago, I am begin to wonder if I might be intersex or something. (Of course, odds are low, but what else could push my estrogen level THAT high? >_> ;) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />  Kind of reminds me back in 8th grade I had some sickness that my doctors were unable to figure out that kept me out of school for about 2 weeks on the couch...hmm.

Anywho, I dunno when I will see this doctor, but I am hoping the best. I know too much estrogen is bad for a male-born body, but hey, will see what happens. >_>;

This has heavily been on my mind these last 24 hours. .-.

I wish you the very best in your journey and know that there are a great many here who are great listeners. I can only imagine how this news is going to affect the outcome of your gender transformation. Please keep us posted.

You don't mention if you are overweight or not. I say this because overweight males produce additional estrogen. This may be why your body has more estrogen than the average male.

None the less, best of luck with your specialist appointment.

Thanks folks. Yeah, I "am" overweight, but at the same time, not nearly as much as other members of my family and other males I have met. I am about 170. Would weight add "that" much estrogen to a male?....

There are a lot of reasons why someone's estrogen could be high.  You'll probably know a lot more after you see an endocrinologist.  In the meantime, just try not to worry (easier said than done, I know) relax about it if you can and do something nice for yourself.

The best thing to do, is to wait until you see the specialist, have any tests he/she recommends and hopefully get a diagnosis before looking things up on the internet.  I know its hard not to, but the internet has a wealth of misinformation when it comes to healthcare.  I say this just for your own peace of mind.

I wish you the best of luck with this!

Yeah, I am calm, I just want to see this person asap though. It's not really worry as much as it is "curious as heck"...

Either way, I won't know my appointment until Monday at the earliest. Blah. My doctor said the sooner, the better for this, so I HOPE the appointment was put in and I just wasn't contacted about it, but that probably isn't the case.

Anywho, will update I guess once I hear something.

Well it could be a potential plus for you as long as nothing else is wrong. Let the doc check you and if all is well then rejoice in the fact that your hormones match your mind. Good to see you on here.

Thanks Dalylah. I appreciate that message too you sent a lot. Helped me quite a bit, believe it or not.

But yeah, that seems to be all that is abnormal, but hey, who knows. Itching to get to the bottom of this. Stupid weekends. I just hope they set my appointment up for me last week. Don't want to call tomorrow and be told that they need to do it, pushing me to an even longer wait. :/...

One thing I am not up for is my doctor said they MIGHT have to keep me over about 3 nights to do a daily check, as well as during the 4 o'clock hormone cycles. We will see though. :/

It's interesting to hear of those results.  I also have the same digit ratio as you (indicating higher estrogen levels in studies), although I've never had any formal testing done.  While certain foods, vitamins, and suppliments can alter the body's hormonal balance to some extent, it appears that we all have naturally unique body chemistries that can vary greatly from person to person.  It makes me curious to see where I would place level-wise on that spectrum, considering my gender identity and all. Anyway, I just noticed that this post is from a while back, so hope all is well with you!

Casey
