QOTD April 27, 2013: If you could go back in time to undo one thing, what would it be?

Recommended Posts

Asking this question without an answer already for myself.... let's see.

I'd probably undo the shop I took back in vocational school. I took drafting and design, but in the end, it wasn't for me. Obviously, I would have switched over and taken Cosmo if possible, but yep, far too late for that.

Oh my.... I am so sorry to hear that.... ):
Don't be sorry! It just so happened we had a slight difference of opinions that day lol. It's just a little stinky because she passed unexpectedly, so there was no coming to grips at first.

Well, I hope you are her were on good enough terms for her to have known no ill or bad intents, thoughts, or desires came out of it, and that you still loved her. ):

1990. LOL Because that was the year I began high school and so I would change the classes I took and taken classes I had no interest in. Would have done other types of sports and do things so differently.

Absolutely!

I did several clubs and stuff, which is how I ended up traveling as a teen. I went to NYC and performed with a choir at Carnegie Hall, then competed in a competition in Boston, all by the time I was 16. I was more the academic club kid, have up sports when I but high school lol.

Sometimes, in certain situations, you just need to walk away. I wish I would have done that in certain situations, instead of staying in them and going through all of the drama.

High school was only a few years ago for me but I'd definitely be more involved in school than I was. I would take it much more seriously & had more fun instead of skipping class just waiting to get out.

I would not have gone to grad school. Feel like I wasted two years of my life. I'm thankful it was paid for so I didn't waste any money, but yeah...that is something I wish I hadn't felt pressured to do.

HS, I went from a tight knit private school in the city to a even tighter knit K-12 school. I hated it, I got kicked out and just stopped caring about school. I was an overachiever type that was into sports and learning anything new. Here I sit 3 years after I would have graduated still a HS dropout unemployed bum with zero direction in life. I'd also like to change the day my father passed. I was more focused on going to hang out with friends then realize something was up with him, he needed to go to the store but told me to go with my friends we could go another day. That day never came. He called me right after I left and sounded so distant telling me goodbye. Part of me is so happy out of everyone in my family my dad said goodbye to me. I got a phone call later that day at work telling me my dad had passed away. To this day it eats me up I ignored his signs of desperation for my own selfish needs and I wish I had stayed home with him.

I would not want to "undo" anything as I feel everything that I did led me to where I am and undoing something could have changed my future.  I do wish I could have gone home when my grandma was in the hospital.  It was not expected that she would pass, so my family said not to come home.  When I got the call I knew she was gone and wished I would have went anyway.

If there's anything I want to undo then that would be to take care more of myself. I have been neglecting taking care of myself and now it has been a big problem for me.

I know it's petty and shallow, but I'd go back to a few years ago and not let myself gain so much freaking weight (ashamed to admit that it's about 50 lbs in 4 years, yikes). Hopefully when I wean myself off of certain medications, it'll be easier to lose weight, since the bulk of that gain happened when trying out new meds.

Definitely would not have spent so much time partying and socializing my first couple of years of college.  I've been in college 8 years now and still no degree.  icon_eek.gif

I have changed my mind on what I've wanted to be 6 times so that has something to do with it, but still!! I always said I wouldn't be that person who put academics on the back burner and partied, but I was definitely that girl! LOL, oh well.  Lesson learned.

Me too! Kind of. I have an AS from a trade school, but the credits don't transfer anywhere so I consider it useless, to me (not knocking trade schools.. it wasn't for me). But I'm a few credits shy of 2 different "real" AS degrees (1 lousy credit for web development and 6 for a general biology I think), and will probably finish them this summer because my baby brother is a few credits shy too and I don't want him to beat me.  icon_evil.gif

Well, how far back in time?  Like long enough to kill Stalin?  Or Castro before he took over Cuba?  Or only my own life?  If anytime, then I guess it would be to kill Stalin before he tortures millions of people.

If only my own life, then it will be a little more shallow.  I wish I'd invested in Apple stock before it took off crazy.  I'd be living on a beach ordering rum and Diet Cokes all day long!

Wait, I want to change that...I always say that I wish I'd either gone abroad for a semester or gone to a ski resort (Florida kid, never skied until well after college) and worked as a waitress for one semester.  I was paying my own way to school and it took me 8 years to get a degree.  I was so focused on getting out of school, I didn't take advantage of the time while I was young and flexible and do things like live in Europe for a semester or live in a ski town for a ski season.  I am happy with how my life came out, but doing something like that would have been fun.  Also, I wonder if I could have gotten a job in housekeeping on a Meditarraen cruise ship for a summer.  I love travel and experiences and wish I'd started earlier.

So from someone who is not young any more, here is my advice to young women:

1) save your money and invest wisely.  It is good to have financial cushion when you are older

2) look for cute clothes at thrift and consignment stores.  Then you are saving money and it is possible to get good quality things

3) when there is a chance for a fun life experience that is very affordable, really consider taking it.  You might get so much more out of it than other ways you could spend that time/little bit of money

    • My Netflix subscription is cancelled. I was only allowed the free month. I wanted so badly to watch a new show called Ares that came out Friday. I did not think I would get to see it before my subscription expired, but I did. I was able to watch it on the last day! I was so happy, because I'm not allowed to renew Netflix per my no buy rules. And I can't live with exceptions to my rules. Ares I loved and hated at the same time. I loved the cast, acting, sets, costumes, hair and makeup, exteriors, and story line. Ares is a great story about a poor and stressed college girl joining an Illuminati type of cult, in Amsterdam. But I hated all the gory horror, and they killed off so many interesting characters. The gory horror is hard to watch, and could be triggering to some. I know the gruesome elements are symbolizing something important in the story, but it's disturbing. The first episodes were good at developing the story, but at the end it was exhausting with all the violence. I think it would have been great as just a psychological drama. Still I'm so glad I got to watch it without violating my rules. Back to watching no buy videos on YouTube now.
    • I didn't tryied the vitimin C serum cream for my skin, I think it very harsh when you are using it at your skin so it would be hard for me to have it I will try something else..
    • Today was pay day. I paid $22.90 extra on my credit card. I realized I'm now halfway done with my goal for the month - to pay $100.00 toward my credit card (including minimum payment). It's halfway through the month, so I am right on track! I made a $30 payment last week. I got deodorant, the only beauty item I need to replace. I ended up not getting the fancy new Secret or an Avon set, but just regular Secret Paris Rose from Dollar General. It was $5 - I thought that was a little high in price. I had this deo before during my No Buys, so it's a tradition. I didn't feel like spending extra or taking the time to order online. Too lazy to fill out the order pages! I sure am out of practice shopping!
    • What am I wishing for right now? Yesterday I was looking at the Yves Rocher French website to see if they have anything new that might come to the US. I found something to love, but not a thing this time. In France, Yves Rocher has special salons. They have some fabulous sounding treatments. One I really fell in love with was an eyebrow treatment. They put eye patches under your eyes, then while those are on, they shape the eyebrows. After all is done, they apply an eye cream. That's what I'd love right now, and I suppose I could copy it at home with what I already have.
    • It feels like it has been January for a long time, but we're only halfway through the month. There's still time to do a lot of things this month!  I have some empties! I finished my three DHC foil packets, the two mini micellar waters from my Yves Rocher Advent Calendar, and my Neutrogena Shampoo mini.  Now using up: June Jacobs Green Tea and Cucumber Shampoo mini Freeman Cucumber and Pink Salt Masque packet MAC Strobe Cream mini in Pinklite - This is a really nice cream that has a bit of pink color corrector and a bit of luminosity. It's great for a no makeup routine! Very pretty, and feels wonderful on the skin. I got it in an Ipsy bag.  I had the Freeman cucumber masque in my project use it up in January 2018. Now I have another one to use. There is a lot of product in the packet. It is enough for several weeks of use. But it is a clay masque, so it gets dry and messy in the packet. I recall having a hard time using it all up before. So I opened the packet all around the edges, and used a spatula to transfer the contents into an empty jar so it will stay fresh and be easier to use up. I'm looking forward to using it with my new masque brush! I will be having some fun masque and movie nights!
