"N" vs "NW" when it comes to Mac Studio Fix cosmetics

I am a cool when it comes to cool, warm, neutral shades of cosmetics. I wear Mac makeup, so when it comes to them it's the opposite. So I've always worn NW Studio Fix. I'm more pale than I used to be, so I got color matched again at a Mac counter and I realized when I got home that the shade was  N, neutral by itself. It matched perfectly even though I have pink in my skin. Since then I have used it on other girls who have the same darkness/paleness as me and it matched perfectly. Why is this?? Does Neutral go with all skin tones, because it seems to when it comes to the same darkness/paleness. Thanks /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

I'd be interested to know too b/c I'm very pink toned and always need very cool colors
