Memebox: Korean Beauty Box Service

Recommended Posts

So I was contacted by a company called memebox back in September and was asked if I wanted to do a few reviews on my blog of their beauty box. They are one of the top beauty boxes in Korea, apparently, so I was pretty interested.

I've received 3 boxes so far, and I am really loving them. I was wondering if anyone else is getting the memeboxes. What do you think of them? Or is this something you'd be interested in?

They aren't a subscription service, though. Basically you sign up on their website (I think it's memeboxusa.com) and they will send you an e-mail when a new edition of the box is available, and you can decide to purchase it at that time. Every box you get costs $21 and $7 for shipping, however they give you a $7 credit in their online store for each box to sort of reimburse you for the shipping.

I also thought I'd post a few pictures of what the boxes have looked like:

700

700

The last photo is the most recent box which is still available for purchase on their site. I LOVE the fact that there's a full size Dr. Jart eye serum in there! The boxes almost always retail for over $100, which is awesome. (I don't get any kickback for posting this or anything, I just thought they were an awesome company and I know there must be other people interested in Korean beauty products like I am!)

I've been thinking about purchasing one of those! Is the 2nd picture the 3rd or the 4th edition?  Both editions are available.

The last picture is the "3rd Global Edition" as I think the 4th just shipped out to to their partners. They are a great company, and are really helpful in answering questions and issues. I haven't had a single problem so far. I'm kind of obsessed with this most recent box though. The weird lip-gel thing is something I can't wait to try. It's like a sheet mask for your lips!

I was wondering what that lip thing was! lol. I may just get the 4th one since it's available now, I'm not a fan of fake lashes.  So far, they have all looked like great boxes!

I'm definitely curious to what the 4th box has in store for us. I'm not a huge fan of falsies either, although I know they're like a beauty staple in Korea! haha :)

Welcome to MUT! And yea they are really nice boxes! So far I've been pleased with every one, which is rare for a subscription box!

I just e-mailed memebox about the 4th edition and they said,

"The 4th box just came out and we expect to ship out the box end of January.   The reason we opened the 4th box early is because we thought there is a high chance that the 3rd box will be sold out soon :)"     So it looks like the 3rd edition won't be in stock for much longer. Excited to see what the 4th brings!

Im dying to try this subscription! I love skincare and I've had really good luck with Asian BB creams, oil cleansers, and other skincare products, so I think this would be such an awesome value for me (usability wise). I just need to wait until I have a little more wiggle room in my budget. :P

They usually release a new edition monthly, although it can vary occasionally. I would sign up to get a notification for the next box. The good thing is you don't have to subscribe monthly, or at all for that matter. You just have to make an account on their website with your e-mail address and they will message you when a new box becomes available. Then you can decide if you want to purchase it or not. It's not an auto-renew subcription like Birchbox or Ipsy. You can just buy a box when you have the extra money, and not buy one when you're broke! :)

(oh and also, I totally agree with you! I have amazing luck with korean skincare brands, and since I started getting this box I haven't needed to buy anything! I always have new things to try and they're always so gentle and effective on my skin!)

*stops lurking*

I haven't participated in any threads since I joined MUT, but I suppose now is better than never. Not really a coincidence (since most of those who ordered probably already got theirs too), but I got my 3rd Global Edition of Memebox today! I literally just opened it a few minutes ago to check them out and I like the variety so far. I think the cost justifies what they send us.

The face cream called "cheese" cream sounded weird to me at first, but once I tried it I actually liked it! I have it on my face right now, lol. Now I'm excited to try the rest of the items in the box. The Tonymoly lip tint smells like strawberry candy!

Sadly, I missed the 1st and 2nd editions, and never got a notification for the 4th one. Good thing I saw your post, I'm off to order the 4th box. Thanks :)

High five! I usually just read through the posts but I guess I was still pretty excited about the contents of my box that when it popped up here at MUT I couldn't help but join in :)

The face/cheese cream smells lovely-- initially disliked the smell but it's subtle (smells baby powder-ish) if you only use a tiny amount so that's okay. It's not greasy, it absorbed into my skin pretty well. Hope you get your box soon too!

I totally agree about the cheese cream LOL. I was like...wait is this made of CHEESE? But reading the packaging they apparently just meant that it has a similar...consistency to cheese? IDK Korean stuff is weird! It smells really nice and feels nice on the skin, I'm loving it so far!

Memebox told me that they're sending their blogger/youtuber partners the 4th Edition box at the end of January, so I guess I'll have to wait until then for it, but I'm hoping someone posts a spoiler before then!

Has anyone tried the weird lip gel-thing yet? I did earlier today and it was soooo odd haha. I almost scared my fiance to death wearing it! :icon_chee

I love weird skincare stuff too lol! I think that's why I'm drawn to Korean brands. Always coming up with the next new/weird thing! I can't wait to see what in the 4th edition box. I had the first 2 spoiled for me, but I opened the 3rd edition completely spoiler-free and it was such an awesome box for me!

How exciting is this! So much for no/low buy! Lol!! I am new to MUT so I'm learning a lot of different things! I love it! Thank you for sharing this! I will probably get this box as I'm fascinated with weird products as well. Like chin/cheek rollers and the like. Enablers unite!

How was the lip gel product? I don't know if it's a one-time use only patch or if it can be used a few times. I might just end up giving it to someone else because I have no particular desire to get my lips plumped. Now if it claimed to reduce discoloration on the outline of my lips... 6.gif

Oh, thats sooo cool ! Koreans are known for their quality. They would be dishonored and feel shame if they made cheap stuff, like chinese goods. Koreans love quality and being perfectionists. Most koreans I know are doctors or high end fields of work. They strive to be the best in everything and will not go cheap, do shortcuts in any product or cheat people cause it goes against their ethics. This box looks awesome !

I've wanted to try this box since I saw it on @MissJexie's blog (I was creeping the other day). My skincare routine consists of me putting on moisturizer  before I put my foundation on - sometimes. I think this stuff will be fun to play with.

It doesn't plump the lips, really, so no worries! It's supposed to moisturize and treat them. It was VERY heavy and even though it stuck to my lips it kept sliding down, but once I adjusted it once or twice it stuck pretty well. It felt really cooling and soothing, however once I took it off and patted the rest of the serum into my skin, my lips just kind of felt moisturized, but nothing too exciting. Kind of like if you put on a lip balm and then wiped off the excess. Nothing I would buy again, but kind of a fun little "mask" for the lips, I guess!

Everything I've received in the box has been extremely well-packaged and high quality. There have been some things I haven't tried yet or have given away, but everything I have tried has been amazing! I think it's one of the few boxes in this price point that is well worth the money!

haha that's awesome! :) I am the saaaame way with skincare, although I have been trying to start a "routine" lately and I've been trying different things to see what a good combination is. I have always loved Korean BB creams. I LOVE the Skin79 Absolute Total Diamond BB Cream. Just started using it and it manages to be sheer but still covers really well if that's even possible! I think that's the best thing about this box though, is that it's so fun to get it because everything is new and exciting...and occasionally weird lol

    • A good steamer does not have to be available at the spa. You can bring home the best facial steamer and have a great steaming session at the comfort of your home. All you have to do is to follow the right set of rules to get high-end results.    Bring home the best facial steamer from the store. Read the user manual carefully. Before you turn it on, give your face a good wash and do not apply anything. Keep your hair away from the face by neatly wrapping it.  Use normal tap water inside the steamer, turn it on, and wait for vapors to arise. Keep the steamer almost 6-8 inches away from your face. Align your face to get the steam vapors.  Take the steam vapors for a minute and move your face away from it for half a minute. Continuously taking the steam over the face may leave your skin burnt.  Start off your cleansing session and pull out all the black and whiteheads.  Dab a clean towel to remove the water droplets on your face and then apply a good moisturizer.
    • No Buy Program Guide   I found a great new No Buy channel on YouTube (well it found me; it was in my recommended videos), a new No Buy channel from a New York concert pianist, Natalia Lavrova. I find this fascinating, because I love the world of classical music. Here is someone in my dream life, who loves shopping, and beauty subscriptions, who has credit card debt, and is doing a No Buy! I'll be fascinated to watch this channel and hear how this artist's No Buy goes as she is preparing for concert tours abroad! Ms. Lavrova has a really good Shop My Stash video with great tips on winter makeup colors, like icy pink highlighter. I looked for her piano performances on YouTube and they are stunning. This is going to be a big inspiration for me!
    • I made it through the night with no buying! I slept through the shopping craving like it was an illness. I woke up after the 12 hours of sleep and as I was waking up I thought of a happy time in the 90's. I was young; all my family members were alive. I was at a Bond film, Tomorrow Never Dies, (I love James Bond and don't know what I am going to do when his new film is released, since I'm not allowed money for entertainment on my No Buy). On the floor near my feet was a big bag of Estee Lauder products that I had just gotten with my birthday and Christmas money. I had a full size moisturizer and a huge PWP, beautiful. The film had a great ending. The Bond girl was underwater, running out of air, and just in time, there's James Bond, the theme music resumes! Great scene! And walking around the mall after, how happy I felt! And today I am sad that time is gone, many family members are gone, life is sadder, time is running out, and I did not use that bag of Estee Lauder products up! I probably used them a few times and then threw them out and bought something else. And maybe if I had used every drop, in my mind, I could have held on to life, to time, to happiness. At any rate I would have had more money. If only we knew about No Buys and Project Pans then! This is just one of a million examples of how I think about this.  When I woke up Elle S was still analyzing her samples! She was talking about how her project taught her to evaluate (excellent video, Oct 1, 2017).  Last night in bed I took some photos of samples I need to use up. Sorry for so many long posts, but I've really had to work on this for the last 24 hours. Primers, shower gels and body scrub, toners, and masques.
    • I haven't given in and bought anything yet, though I wanted to. I went to bed early (I think it was 5 pm), and I was listening to Elle S 365 Days of Samples playlist on YouTube. It is inspiring. Elle is detailed, persevering, and creative. I was very cozy, and I dreamed I was going to a spa in Europe. I was so excited about the spa, and about the skin care products the spa was going to have in the room for us. My mother was going with me, and I told her I was going to bring a minimal amount of beauty products in my suitcase, because we would be getting some from the spa. When I woke up I was sad, because the dream was so nice. Now I just woke up and I'm hot and thirsty, but the craving to shop has gone down somewhat. Before I went to sleep I looked in my sample boxes. I saw a beautiful mini lotion with a gold bow on the package that I got for Christmas and had already forgotten about. The glittery gold bow sparkled beautifully in the light.  This while experience today of realizing I have been on No Buy so long without realizing it has been interesting. I have been keeping busy with other things. I began going to a a new religious congregation a month after I went back on No Buy (a different religion I wanted to learn about for a long, long time) and have been busy with that, and have been making new friends and socializing more. The new religion is one that fills my need for intellectual and artistic (through its liturgy) stimulation. I've met wonderful people. It's not always easy to keep going there, as I'm shy and reclusive, but I've kept it up. Maybe this is what made the time go so fast without me knowing it.  I guess I'll go and listen to some more 365 Days of Samples.
    • I'm changing the way I keep track of the time on my No Buy in order to motivate myself more. I didn't realize until today that I'm in month 8 of my second year! Four and a half months until completion of Year 2! I want to finish my mini sample products by June 12, 2020. Here is a partial inventory: Shampoo minis - all used up! Face cream, and face cleanser minis - all used up after a great deal of work and patience!  Mini body scrubs - 1  Mini shower gels - 7 Mini face primers - 8 Mini toners - 9 Mini face masques - 12 I still have to add up mini body creams, hair conditioners, and perfumes. I should reorganize them all to get a new perspective.
