Skin Care Routine

Recommended Posts

I am super curious to see what everyone's skin care routine is involving K-Beauty products. It seems like a TON of work, but worth it? Do you go through your entire routine every morning AND night. I can't imagine doing a face mask twice a day.

Any products that are an absolute must? I have combo skin which is terrible. Oily through the T zone, everything else is dry as a bone!!! I am afraid of using moisturizer though as I have acne prone skin.

Looking forward to your responses!

I don't have the time or the patience to do a full K-beauty routine lol so I just include K-beauty products in my regular routine depending on how much time I have. I usually use a K-beauty toner, essence, serum and then a regular moisturizer (non-Kbeauty sometimes K-beauty. I love the Missha Time Revolution Toner and essence. I use different K-beauty serums, toners and essences too, usually whatever I have from K-beauty sub boxes on hand. I don't do a sheet mask every day. I'm lucky to use one once a week. :) Without doing a full K-beauty routine, my skin has changed so much just from using K-beauty products. I highly recommend trying some even if you don't commit to a full K-beauty routine. I think the essences and the serums are a must. Sometimes I'll use all mainstream products but add an essence and serum from K-beauty brands. The days I don't use any K-beauty products, I see the difference in my skin right away. Just the way it looks and feels is so much better the days I use K-beauty products. Brands like Missha, Goodal, Banila, Benton are great. I have a combo skin too and my skin is less oily from using K-beauty brands and just overall healthier looking.

Thank you for the ideas!

I don't do the full K beauty routine either, but I do a number of the steps, because my face is so dry, I mean bone dry. This has helped tremendously and I have noticed a huge difference in my skin, it's very moisturized and my large pores have reduced. So the extra time I take it certainly has been worth it for me.

For cleaning my face, I do a 3 step process. I use a facial cleansing cloth, then I use a cleansing balm like Clean it Zero, then a foaming cleanser. Right now I'm using the Foreo as it came in my Allure box, but I switch cleansers frequently. I do this in the evening only, for the morning I just use a cleansing balm.

For both morning and night, I start with a toner, right now I am using Scinic All day fine pore toner, then an essence, then I'm using Mizon Original Skin Energy Hyaluronic acid as a serum, then an emulsion, and then a cream such as Mizon all in one snail repair cream. I then use a sunscreen during the day prior to applying my makeup.

My toner, essence and emulsion I frequently change up, depending on what I get in my kbeauty subs or something I see I want to try. But the two Mizon products are my holy grail, as nothing else has helped my dry skin issues as these two. I use face mask about 3 or 4 times a week.

I agree with Reija, you can start out by using a few products targeted towards your skin tone and see what works for you. Good luck!

Thank you! I ordered a few things this weekend to try. The few K Beauty items I had I have been using and I can't believe the difference they have made. I usually stay away form moisturizers because my skin gets so oily, so I was nervous about using so much.

I only have one beauty practice that does it all for my skin and hair. I follow that good 'ol saying: "An apple a day keeps the doctor away." LOLS  Oh well seems like that but not really coz it was a practice handed down to me by my oldies:

"A spoonful of apple cider vinegar for that radiant skin and glorious hair." ;)

I am Thai girl. I have a combo skin too, but I don't do the full K beauty routine. I only use cushion everyday because it is very easy to wear makeup and quick too. But, I think, it is not suitable to oily skin. Other step, I use milk cleansing because it is gentle to my skin.

One thing I realised is that only steps are too much but time wise its not. You will get used to things pretty soon.

I do 8 steps every night, masks once a week and exfoliate twice a week.

Things like essence, toner, serum takes fraction of seconds each. For morning I just do a normal face wash with a foam based cleanser.

Well for skin care. I only use mineral makeup. You can sleep as well without taking off your makeup. I suggest you to stop using regular makeup.

Not sure if this is a good advice, to sleep with your makeup on.. Yeah, mineral makeup is so much better than regular, but you shouldn't sleep with it on your face, no matter how much is great..

Yeah the 12 step skincare is just too much for me!  The products are definitely worth checking out though.  I especially like the Mizon Snail skincare line.  I did a review on my favorites (the Snail Recovery Gel Cream and the Black Snail Cream) on my new YouTube channel if you're interested in hearing more!

I want to do the 10 step, I went to sokoglam and got the idea, when I can afford it I will do the full 10 step.  For now I am just doing 1 part of it and I am happy with the results.

I've found that I get amazing results even though I don't do the 10 step process. I even mix my regular products with Korean beauty products and my skin is so much better.

I can already see great results with the one I am using right now. My hubby let me order 4 more products the other day so I will report on those when I get them!  I am super excited

I don't do the full routine either. For me , mask twice a day is too much. I think use mask 2-3times a week is good enough. I also use korea toner and serum. It all depends on what I need for you skin. So I thinks you don't have to insist on doing the full routine. Just use what you need.

I've been using a Korean toner and serum too and just a regular cleanser and moisturizer. I do a mask and a Korean sugar scrub 1-3 times a week.

Here's a rundown of my current skin care routine:

Morning Routine

-Ultra Gentle Cleanser by Face Reality: Face Reality is a Bay Area acne clinic that my esthetician uses.
-Salicylic Toner by Face Reality
-Manyo Factory Galactomyces Niacin Special Treatment Essence: Galactomyces ferment filtrate is the main ingredient in SK-II's Facial Treatment Essence.
-Mizon Snail Recovery Gel Cream: This moisturizer is perfect for oily skin. It's light and not greasy at all.
-Bioré UV Rich Watery Essence: My HG sunscreen
-Makeup

Evening Routine

-Ultra Gentle Cleanser by Face Reality
-8% Mandelic Acid Serum by Face Reality: Mandelic acid fixed my acne problem!
-5% Benzyl Peroxide + Sulfur by Face Reality: Used to spot treat pimples.
-Manyo Factory Galactomyces Niacin Special Treatment Essence
-Stratia Liquid Gold: Stratia is an indie skin care company based out of Southern California. I credit this ceramide product with repairing my skin’s moisture barrier (also known as the stratum corneum).
-Mizon Snail Recovery Gel Cream

While this seems like a lot, it really doesn't take that long. In the morning, I can finish my routine in less than 10 minutes. At night, I usually apply products and do other things in between (like brush my teeth). I've definitely seen an improvement in my skin since starting this routine a year ago.

Hope this helps!

HI I love your thread.

I also love korean skin care

I do the seven step korean skin care routine and loved the effect it gave on my skin.

I'm a fan of snail serum, volcanic clay mask, milk moisturiser, aloe vera, and tomato mask

Hi

Their are THREE MAIN STEPS that I generally follow -

The goal of any skin-care routine is to tune up your complexion so it’s functioning at its best, and also troubleshoot or target any areas you want to work on. As your skin needs shifts with age, so will your products.

i used to do the whole K-beauty routine but I felt it's a lot of work lol but it does make my skin look so vibrant and glowy. Now I only use a moisturiser from Laneige and an eye cream from Missha. My day time routine is wash with a gentle cream cleanser with my facial brush, put Laneige cream moisture or Cetaphil hyaluronic lotion and then face oil (rosehip oil from Purifict and is made in Korea). my nighttime routine is pretty much the same except I add my snail eye cream from Missha. This routine also gives me the same glow and dewy look that I love.

    • We have rounded up not one, but five easy ways to draw that fine stroke of liner on your lid. You can use your pencil, liquid, gel or pen eyeliners and try out any of these five ways to apply eyeliner like a pro. So grab your eyeliner and take a look at five different ways to work the stunning eyeliner look in one go.
    • Steaming at home: A good steamer does not have to be available at the spa. You can bring home the best facial steamer and have a great steaming session at the comfort of your home. All you have to do is to follow the right set of rules to get high-end results. Bring home the best facial steamer from the store. Read the user manual carefully. Before you turn it on, give your face a good wash and do not apply anything. Keep your hair away from the face by neatly wrapping it. Use normal tap water inside the steamer, turn it on, and wait for vapours to arise. Keep the steamer almost 6-8 inches away from your face. Align your face to get the steam vapours. Take the steam vapours for a minute and move your face away from it for half a minute. Continuously taking the steam over the face may leave your skin burnt. Start off your cleansing session and pull out all the black and whiteheads. Dab a clean towel to remove the water droplets on your face and then apply a good moisturizer. Choose a facial steamer with the quickest start-to-steam option. This makes it the best facial steamer. Have a steam session, not more than once in a week as over steaming your facial steam can make it dry or burn it. Moisturize skin immediately after a good steam session to trap moisture and make the skin hydrated.
    • Hi I really need som help to find a good foundation. Im 35 years old and when I put on foundation it looks terrible. On the left side I have no makeup but in the right side I have Max factor radiant lift foundation. I still have acne and thats why I want to use foundation..
    • I'm going to have one day a week off of work for a while! I have not had any vacation since I began my job in 2015. Is No Buy worth it if it lets you work less? Maybe! I think so!  My hair has been a disaster, an absolute mess. It just needs better care. It is long, and I don't want to cut it until I use up all my backlog of hair products. It tangles so badly. I can't comb through the tangles, and they just build up into matted sections. It is just awful. Hair products don't help. My hair got really badly tangled and matted this week. My scalp was also irritated from using too much harsh shampoo. I decided to wait an extra day before washing it again, to let the natural oils soothe my dry and itchy scalp. Ironically, the natural oils also allowed me to detangle my hair, even where conditioners won't do it. It still took an hour and 40 minutes to get the tangles out, I kid you not, but at least I was able to do it. It's ironic that the solution to my problem wasn't buying a product, but just leaving my hair alone and letting my body heal itself.  Also I just had a little haul, but don't worry - it's within my No Buy rules. Time to replace my deodorant. I got an Avon Rare Pearls roll on. Three years ago, I got a stack of Rare Pearls sample cards from the Avon lady, and I thought if I got the deo to match, it would finally motivate me to use them up. While I was looking through the Avon site, I saw that Avon has some really pretty new dental care products. I got myself a really pretty pink toothbrush that has special bristles and Himalayan pink salt! I'm excited, because my teeth are bad and need more care, and this will be nice for me. It's been a while since I got a new toothbrush. The Avon lady had a code to get belif samples too - is belif part of Avon now? No - I jut checked - Avon was bought by the company that makes belif, apparently, and also makes History of Whoo! History of Whoo is one of my dream brands, and I've always wanted to try it. (It's an expensive, beautifully packaged Korean line of products that look like they are made for a Korean princess or empress.) Well that was a good guilt free haul! Very interesting and productive No Buy night.
