Ipsy February 2019

Recommended Posts

I signed up, then got nervous and cancelled. I don't know if I will get the bag or not. I saw a bag with lipstick kisses, Valentine themed, and Elemis. I have never tried Elemis and would love to have some. I love February, because everything is pink, my favorite color. Birchbox has a Valentine themed box, but it's sort of minimalist and laid back, a denim blue with really small hearts. I'm not into it. I want over the top pink everything. Ipsy has some really pretty pink and red makeup brushes for the month. If I do get it, I'll let you know all about it.

Have you seen the new system at Ipsy? It's really fun, yet kind of funny too. When I previewed my Glam Room, I could see the same old is going in my bag, a primer [MAC Strobe Cream - is that a primer? Oh no, it's a highlighter.] and that same pink eye brush they always send me [full sized nail polish though]. Then, you are able to add three extra products to your bag. The extras were all really attractive, in contrast to the meh bag. There are full sized products and sample sizes.

Good marketing idea, Ipsy. :smilehappyyes: I have to laugh. To me, this is better than the Birchbox add on program. Ipsy only lets you add three items, so there is a built in spending limit. There is a limited, curated selection of things. There is a fixed prince of $12.00 for full size products and $3.00 for sample size. This is good for people like me who turn to sub boxes out of anxiety about shopping and spending too much. Also with the Ipsy system you can see your bag before choosing ad ons.

This option only was up for one day, yesterday, 2/2. It's gone from my Glam Room now. I would have wanted to add:

  • Full sized Finding Ferdinand Lipstick. This is something I had never heard of before. It's a company that lets you create a customized lipstick and name it. How wonderful is that? You can get a customized mini lipstick for $6.00. I would try to recreate a shade for the 60s or 70s, like one from Yardley or Biba. The lipstick Ipsy had was not custom though. They had two shades to pick from. The full size is usually $30.00.
  • Full sized LXMI Pure Nilotica Melt - This is a beautiful package of an organic ingredient - a fruit butter from near the Nile River. It is $28.00.
  • Sample Elemis Superfood Facial Cleanser - I've never tried Elemis, always wanted to.

That would have been an extra $27, so my Ipsy would have been $37. Seems like a lot, but those are nice products, and I would still be saving on them.

Thanks Ipsy, I like this system of shopping with limits. That's the kind of shopping I need and want. I'm overwhelmed by the universe of choices. I want to have fun shopping, but not endless temptation. This could be a way to do a Low Buy, being allowed an Ipsy bag and three products per month of choice.

Ipsy arrived. It looks so little after Boxycharm. My photos are not working today. The bag is nicer in real life than in the photo. I got three little samples and a nail polish. The nail polish is excellent - has a natural ingredient that is antifungal. Also got the ubiqitous pink eye brush. The info card is really nice now, with really useful info and tips.

Ipsy has a lot of exciting things going on. They let you add items to your bag to upgrade it now, like Birchbox, and they have a luxe version now for $25.00, like Boxy. I think Boxycharm is more impressive for now!

    • Head lice are parasitic insects that infest the scalp and feed on the blood extracted from the skin. They do not pose the risk of any fatal illness. However they can be quite bothersome as they cause a great deal of itching. They are also contagious and spread easily from one individual to another. Children are more prone to infestation by head lice. If left untreated, the continuous itching could result in inflammation and infection. Treatment should be done as soon as head lice are detected. One can make use of commercially available medicated shampoos for getting rid of head lice. Some people also prefer to use natural treatment for head lice. Most people also believe that the best treatment for head lice is by using natural remedies. Natural Home Treatment for Head Lice Home treatment for head lice can be done using fresh onion juice. The juice may be applied to the scalp and allowed to remain for about 3 hours. Following this, the scalp and hair may be washed with a gentle shampoo. Raw custard apple powder can be applied to the scalp at night and washed off the next morning. This is known to be effective in getting rid of head lice and nits. Essential oils are also beneficial in treating head lice. Oils such as tea tree oil or witch hazel may be diluted with some carrier oil and then massaged into the scalp on a regular basis. A solution of vinegar and water can also be used to get rid of head lice. Another effective natural remedy for head liceis a paste of garlic and lemon juice. The pungent nature of the mixture helps to kill the lice and destroy the nits. Some people also obtain relief from head lice by adding some peppermint oil to regular shampoo. A simple treatment for head lice is coconut oil. You can also add some camphor powder to the oil and massage the scalp with it. Allow the oil to stay on for the night and wash the hair with mild shampoo the next morning. After washing the head or using any of these remedies, one must comb the hair with a lice comb. This helps to remove the lice and nits from the hair. Wet or oiled hair is easier to comb. The best treatment for head lice is to maintain good hygiene of the scalp and hair. The head must be washed on a regular basis, especially if you have visited any crowded place. It is also advisable to avoid sharing personal objects such as combs, hairbrushes and caps. The best treatment for head lice would also depend on the type of hair and the condition of your scalp.   I hope I can help somebody with this the article
      I m Katty and I m new here. I m author on blog https://messyhair.net
I m proud wife and mother of 2 kids. That is it for now, we will talk more later
    • I was just wondering if you do? and if so is it hard to continually put make-up on everyday?
    • I was looking at natural ways to slim my face and came across this super detailed, well-sourced article on face exercises. I was skeptical, but there's quite a few studies to back this stuff up. All of the studies I've seen specifically tested the effects for women over 30 and found positive results. Anybody try face exercises before? I've started doing it for a week now and it's relaxing before going to bed. Not sure if the effects will be long-term YET, but I'm trying it out still.
    • The Harvey Prince perfume house sent me an email of some great sample sets they have available. For $5.00 I got their Deluxe Sample Set which has Hello Shampoo and Conditioner minis and some little sample vials of their perfumes. I am delighted with this little buy. I wanted to get samples of their Fango and Sea Salt Spray for the hair, but they are sold out. Maybe they will get more. I do enjoy their products; nice way to treat myself without guilt.
    • I did it. It was hard. I got my new pretty pink credit card in the mail today. I activated it right away, then I called to close it and cut it up right away!!!!!! It feels bad. I wanted that card. I wanted freedom to buy more, eat more. I worked so hard to pay that card (which has a really bad APR) off during my No Buy. Then I opened that card again during my recent binge. I was so close to sliding back. In 2018 I reduced my credit card debts from 16 to 11, with a plan to get to 6 by the end of this year, and then this past month I signed up for four charge cards again. I won't have closure until the new ones are all received in the mail and closed. This is my main concern right now. It hurt to trash that new card, I wanted it, but I saved myself some grief!!!!!
