You can choose your friends, but not your relatives.

Who all has brothers and sisters? Personally i dont have either

but I am blessed with very good friends.

I would love to hear about the relationship you have with your siblings and what size of family you have.

I have a brother, as well as a half-sister through my dad's remarriage. My brother is 35 and sis is 17 (I'm 33). We all "get along" but none of us really talk to each other much. My brother, sister and I are very different in every way imaginable and it's hard to find a common ground: I'm a big-business Republican, my brother strongly favors Socialism and my sister has a hard time putting together sentences longer than three words because she's an underachieving airhead. So we usually talk about sports or TV shows. Or if I'm cornered with just my sister I can usually talk about lipgloss.

I am an only and I'm glad. I don't think I could deal with all the rivalry and bickering. The only drawback with being an only is you can only blame the dog so much when you are young. I have a sister in law that I talk to maybe once a year. She is an airhead and she is 40.

Two big brothers for me. We get along great now but that certainly was not always the case, one is 5 and a half years older and the other is 7. When we were kids I used to think their main purpose in life was to torment me. When I was about 8 and my oldest brother was 15, my Mom & Dad started to let them babysit me when they would go out for the evening (Thanks Mom & Dad

). I had to get used to snakes and lizards, my brothers jumping out from behind corners and scaring the heck out of me, they even blew up one of my Barbies with an M-80 firecracker because I guess bombing their plastic army men was getting boring. Me being the receiver of noogies, froggies and charlie horses was a daily occurence at our house. When I got to be a teenager any boyfriend that came around usually got the fear of God put into him, my brothers timing was perfect, they would always be conveniently working out with weights and flexing those muscles when ever I had a date

. Truthfully I always wanted to hang out with them when we were kids, I was such a tomboy, I guess in hopes that they would let me hang with them, and sometimes they did. I could play football, baseball and ride a bike better then any boy in the neighborhood, even gave a couple of those neighborhood boys a black eye just to show em who was boss. My brothers and I are really close now and they both have grown into fine men, we all live just a few blocks from eachother and get together often. We lost our Mom almost 6 years ago and that was when I really knew how blessed I was to have them, but 30 years ago? I would have traded them for a mini bike or a horse in a heart beat

WOW Harleymom, Sounds like you had a lot of fun with your brothers and learned how to handle them and yourself. Sorry to hear about your Mom. I am glad you all get on well now and are close. That must be a good feeling!

No brothers or sisters for me. I'm the only child and our child is the only grandchild of the family. We have little families.

I have 2 younger sisters. One is 2 years younger & the other is 5 so we're quite close in age. Get along brill most of the time but we do have our fights over clothes, make-up, the phone!!!

I have one brother - 3 years younger than me. He'll be 21 in December. We get along pretty good now, but we had our childhood moments.. lol Now he's all about his friends, so I hardly see the kid - usually for about 10 minutes when he comes home to shower.. then he's out again! He's made some bad choices in the friend area and the things he chooses to let himself get involved in... but he'll always be the little brat who I convinced into chewing pink cotton balls when he was like 4 or 5 by telling him it was cotton candy,...

(Hey! I was like 7!) LOL

But the funniest (& most disgusting, might I add) moment that I can think of is the time when he was like 4 or so... he would always go around collecting change around the house, from my parents etc.. always saved the money he got - & I guess he overheard my mom talking about his "saving habits" to my dad becuase the next thing ya know... he comes trotting in the kitchen, and in front of my parent and grandparents, pulls down his pajamas -bends over & spreads em' revealing a wad of $'s stuffed in there... along with a "Look Mom! I've got money coming out of my ass!" Needless to say - everyone was hysterical ( i was pretty grossed out myself)

I'm the youngest of 4, two sisters and one brother. I was pretty much terrorized by all of them from one time or another. Examples: They once dressed me and and sent me out trick or treating, it wasn't Halloween
icon_redface.gif

One of my sisters used to hate taking me for walks so she would hold my hand and run as fast as she could, I'd fall, cry and want to go home.

We usually had a great time growing up but those two things still bug me! LOL

Awwww Tiny, sounds like you and I got pretty much the same treatment from our older siblings. My brothers were great for daring me to do stuff, and because I was such a trusting little dim bulb, I used to fall for it, hook, line and sinker. The Priest at our church used to drop by for dinner sometimes, one night when he came by, one of my brothers had a bunch of his buddies over, I think I was about 6, we were out in the front yard and my brother talked me into playing "Helicopter", guess he thought it would be funny to show his friends, he would lay on his back and balance me with his hands and feet, then he would start spinning me, all was fine until he lost me and I went flying across the yard, landed on my arm and broke my wrist. I was OK when I got up but the look on my brothers face when he saw my arm made me realize something wasn't right, I looked down and saw my hand just kind of dangling there with a very noticeable protrusion and freaked. My Dad came out to see what all the commotion was about and I guess he started to use some colorful language when he saw my arm, little did he know that Father Smith had come outside behind him. We ended up spending the evening at the ER where I got a full arm cast. Father Smith never did just drop by for dinner after that, no doubt my Dad probably put a little bit more in the collection basket at Church the following Sunday .

I realized this after finally seeing your new avatar! Nice to finally see you!

PS... Your hair looks good - I don't see any trace of ES in there!!! (lucky!)

the term only child is not in my lexicon. lol. i have a brother (paul anthony) who is 19 and in the army. he was training to be a linguist. first it was korean, then farsi. the flunked out of both. the success rate in those languages is about 20%. he was really dissappointed that he couldnt make it. he speaks japanese semi-fluently and is a total japanophile. hes waiting for his top secret clearance, and hes now going to be a satellite something or other guy. you know how they have weird important sounding titles for things. he might get a medical discharge in the next 6 months because his health is really poor. its deteriorated since he joined the army, and hes having a lot of really serious health problems that the doctors (both on base and off) cant figure out completely. i just want him to come home. my 8 year old sister (annika violet) is in third grade. shes really athletic and is into soccer. i fear for her, because shes popular and likes stuff like hilary duff and britney spears. shes going through a really bratty phase right now. my 10 year old sister (emerald brooke) is in fifth grade. shes into harry potter like you wouldnt believe. she had a harry potter themes bedroom complete with a stuffed owl in a bird cage. shes really artsy and loves doing crafts. shes just like me when i was a child. shes a quiet loner who loves to read and would like to be an author. shes on a huge beatles kick, which is really adorable. she also loves anything to do with history and archaeology.

Wow what nice names!

  • annika violet
  • paul anthony
  • emerald brooke
I have to say, they are nice!

thanks! ive always thought my moms taste in names was a bit out there. my middle name is lynne. she wanted to give paul the name anton. TG she was talked out of that. emerald was supposed to be axel if she was a boy. i think women should have to sign agreements that they wont come up with baby names when their pregnancy hormones are surging. anyways, pauls father and grandfathers names are paul, my paternal grandfather is paul, and my mom is pauline. i think wierd names almost happening is a thing with my family, because my grandfather wanted to name my uncle clark kent. (they did end up naming him clark.) clark is my maternal grandmothers maiden name, and i love that name. my aunt wanted to name her first son elvis. i dont know what the hell she was thinking. she ended up naming him clark. kids are not in my cards anytime soon, if ever. BF and i are still working that one out. hes john warner the fifth, so no guesses about what i would just have to name a son if i had one.
